This involves hiring and evaluating members of the department, managing workflow and communication among librarians and staff members, strategic planning for the department that includes services for distance learners, participating in university and library committees, providing instruction and reference service, selecting reference materials to support the curriculum, and mentoring members of the department. As a department head I also participate in the Libraries strategic planning to support the needs of the university community.
