Working within the Purchasing organisation for Supplier Technical Assistance (STA) department, you will be part of the Body Construction New Programmes team, As a key player, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality delivery of new tooled end item body pressings into our manufacturing plants. Initiating engagement at vehicle programme start up, delivering a flawless launch through the key build phases, culminating in a fully approved set of components prior to volume production. As well as contributing to the supplier feasibility sourcing and assessment process, your role will be to support simultaneous engineering activities ahead of final tooling vendor selection, ensuring sourcing is known and understood. You will have direct links with the JLR New model programme and Launch organisations, where you have responsibility for monitoring and communicating the tooling development, through the build phases to job 1. This will require you to support the pre job 1 builds at the JLR assembly plant, becoming the primary interface point between JLR, the supplier and our own STA body construction vendor supplied press tooling team. During the development phases of the vehicle programmes, clear Issue definition and fast resolution is key to a successful launch. You will work with a multi-functional team within the plants, including Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering and Supplier Partner representatives to communicate and resolve any supplied part quality concerns that occur relating to your assigned component portfolio.
Primarily based at our Gaydon engineering development centre, you will be required to travel to any of our three manufacturing facilities within the UK. Support of activities at our local supply base or overseas supplier sites may also be required. Ideally, you will have worked in a Body in White and or Press tooling environment with a proven track record of successful project delivery and complex problem solving. The role would ideally suit Body Construction/Pressings Manufacturing Engineers who wish to expand their field of expertise into a challenging new programme delivery environment within Supplier Technical Assistance.
