SAN FRANCISCO STATE UNIVERSITY INFORMATION Program Description The RN-BSN is a plan of study designed for Associate Degree and Diploma RNs interested in obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. The plan provides credit for previous course work and flexible scheduling to accommodate the working nurse. Students have the option to study parttime or full-time. If a student meets University general education and other degree requirements, it is possible to complete the course of study in one to one and a half years through full-time study. Application Requirements Submit a CSU Mentor application to SF State between October 1 st November 30 th, selecting the RN-BSN major. A separate application to the School of Nursing is also required. Each RN-BSN applicant is evaluated individually by an RN-BSN Committee member, who will serve as the faculty advisor, in developing a curriculum plan. It is imperative that RNs identify themselves as RN-BSN applicants both on the University application and on the application to the School of Nursing. Interested applicants should attend an informational session offered by the School of Nursing; dates, times, and locations for these sessions are posted on the School of Nursing website. Prerequisites RNs must provide documentation for the following prerequisites: 1. Graduation from an accredited Associate Degree program or its equivalent with a GPA of 2.50 in all nursing courses and overall college GPA of 3.0 2. Must be eligible for Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of California. Must be licensed as an RN in California or be exempt by virtue of military status prior to enrolling in nursing courses. The following foundation courses are part of graduation requirements for the BSN degree. Applicants who have not completed at least 7 of the 8 prerequisite courses by the end of the fall semester, in which they are applying to the RN-BSN Program, will not be considered for admission to the RN-BSN Program. These courses may be done in community colleges or at SF State. Visit www.assist.org to find comparable community college courses.
