1 Step-by-Step Guide for Applying 1. Start taking the prerequisite courses o Track I Associate Degree Option: Minimum 2.5 GPA in the Sciences: o BIOL 200 and 202, or o BIOL 204 and 206, and o BIOL 220 Courses must be within past 7 years for Physiology and Microbiology and 10 years for Anatomy More than two (2) repeated grades may affect admission Minimum 2.5 GPA in the General Education Fixed Set courses: o PSY 204 Developmental Psychology o ENG 110 (or 101) Reading & Composition o MATH 091 Intermediate Algebra (or higher math level course) o ANTH 102 Cultural Anthropology, or SOC 101 Introduction to Sociology o Track II 30-Unit Option (Non Graduate): Minimum 2.5 GPA in the Sciences: o BIOL 202 or BIOL 206 (4 units), and o IVC s BIOL 220 (5 units), or a 4-unit Microbiology course Courses must be within past 7 years for Physiology and Microbiology and 10 years for Anatomy More than two (2) repeated grades may affect admission 4. Complete courses for the major/degree (Track I Option only) Degree courses can be taken concurrent with Nursing but must be completed prior to graduating from the program. o POLS 102 and HIST 120 or 121 o PE 100 and One PE Activity Course o SPCH 100 o One Humanities Elective Course (see College Catalog) o A grade of C or higher is required in all classes 5. Take the TEAS Pre-entrance Test - After completion of the above prerequisites, or when enrolled in the last prerequisite courses, schedule for the TEAS test. o Tutoring required before testing o The TEAS is required for Track I and II options o Contact the IVC Nursing Learning Center below for a schedule Building, Room 2158

2 Phone: Apply to the RN Program - o Pick up an application packet from Office 2155 or download it from the website o Submit the application, applicant checklist, and all required documentation to Office 2155 The best times to submit an application are during the months of January and February and July and August, although there is no deadline for applying. Students are notified of status once the application has been reviewed. 7. Transition/Bridge Course Students who have submitted an application and have met the admission criteria are notified of the course schedule. o Course is offered as non-credit and during the Summer session o All costs related to the course are incurred by the student o Upon successful completion of this course, placement is made into the RN Program o Admission is based on space availability For more information, contact the Nursing Department Office below - Phone: laura.hartsock@imperial.edu Office: Health Sciences Building 2100

3 Summary of Course Requirements: To calculate GPA - Track I Associate Degree Option Science Prerequisite* 2.5 Minimum GPA Course Title BIOL 220 General Microbiology 5 BIOL 200 and Human Anatomy & Physiology, Part 1 4 BIOL 202, or Human Anatomy & Physiology, Part 2 4 BIOL 204 and Human Anatomy 4 BIOL 206 Human Physiology 4 *Current CA LVN license plus Math 090 or 091 are required. Courses must be within 7 years for Physiology and Microbiology and 10 years for Anatomy, from the time of applying. Two (2) or more repeated grades (D, F, and W) in Sciences may not qualify the student. The Committee meets throughout the year on an as needed basis. For questions or changes, contact Laura Hartsock below or laura.hartsock@imperial.edu Student Signature: Date: Previous convictions: When applying for the RN license, the CA Board of Registered Nursing states that they will consider the nature, severity, and recency of the offense(s), as well as rehabilitation and other factors, but cannot make a determination for approval or denial of a licensure without evaluating the entire (licensure) application and supporting documentation. To guide the student with licensing requirements, it is advised that a typed, one-page statement be submitted with the IVC Nursing application identifying the occurrence(s). A background check and drug screen will be required if admitted to the program.

5 Track II - 30 Unit Disclaimer Form (For 30-Unit Option Applicants Only must be submitted with Application) By signing below, I acknowledge that I have been advised of the following possible ramifications in selecting the 30-Unit Option, Option 2, as a route to advance to RN: Licensure as an RN is for California only, and the license may not be recognized in other states. If I take the NCLEX RN exam as a 30-Unit Option student, I will be considered a nongraduate with the BRN for the duration of my license. Upon completing this option, I will not be granted an A.S. degree in Registered Nursing. I understand that IVC is only the facilitator of the minimum requirements needed to apply for the NCLEX RN exam. A degree may be obtained at a later time. I understand that employment may be limited. Some agencies require an Associate of Science degree in Nursing for employment. I understand that it is uncertain if a Bachelor of Science Program will accept this option for admission. I understand that space in the RN program may be limited and have reviewed the Prioritization Section. I understand the NURS 204 Transition to A.S. Degree Nursing course is highly recommended.
