The program is designed to prepare graduates to pass the NCLEX-RN exam and perform as an entry level Registered Nurse. The program is comprised of approximately 37 units of Nursing Theory and Clinical Experience plus approximately 36-0 units of science and general education courses. Students are taught using a combination of classroom theory sessions, hands-on simulation practice sessions

2 in the Nursing Resource Lab (NRL) and live clinical experiences concurrently provided in regional healthcare facilities. Multi-media resources are used to deliver instruction in the classroom and the NRL utilizing technology that includes the most current computerized simulation equipment. Pre-requisite coursework must be completed prior to admission, with an overall GPA of 2.0 and no grade less than a C. Most students admitted to the program have completed all other coursework. Students who have not completed all General Education requirements prior to admission must have a plan established to complete those courses prior to completion of the nursing courses. Students cannot complete the nursing program unless they are eligible for graduation with an Associate Degree. The most current information regarding program requirements and the application process can be found on the college website www. cmccd.edu, select Programs, select the Health Sciences/Nursing link and then use the RN Program tab. Admission selection decisions are made each February for the class to begin the following August (Fall Semester). Admitted students are required to attend a mandatory orientation session usually held in March of each year. Please note: Students are strongly encouraged to complete all general education courses while waiting for program entry. Licensure can be achieved when all courses required for the degree are completed. Recommended courses prior to program entrance include: HS 13, HS 61, HS 6, HS 67, HS 70, HS 71, HS 81 and COUN 11; and a keyboarding course. Graduates are awarded the Associate in Science Degree in Nursing and are eligible to apply to the state board of nursing to take the National Council Licensing Examination (NCLEX) and become licensed as a registered nurse. 5 CSUSB Admission: CSU, San Bernardino has a 6-quarter RN to BSN program. Program admission is contingent upon meeting minimum requirements and enrollment in specified nursing courses requires passing a drug screen and a background check. Students are encouraged to complete all lower division general education courses prior to enrollment, but only the following pre-requisites courses are required for admission to the program. Elective courses may be used to complete unmet lower division GE courses. Oral Communication/Speech Meets CSU GE Area A1 Written English Composition Meets CSU GE Area A2 Critical Thinking/Logic Meets CSU GE Area A3 Statistics (starting in Summer 2013) Meets CSU GE Area B RNs accepted to the RN to BSN program must have: A current license as a Registered Nurse in California Completed at least 60 semester units of baccalaureate-level transferable college units. RNs may transfer 70 units to CSUSB. Completed an AD or Diploma in nursing with a minimum of 30 semester units of nursing coursework with a grade of C or better in each course (Possession of an ADN does not guarantee admission to CSUSB). Completed nursing pre-requisites of English, Critical Thinking, Oral Communication, and Statistics with a grade of C- or better Gained admission to the university with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher Met drug screening and background check requirements. Prior to the program start date students must provide proof of up to date immunizations as outlined by the Department of Nursing (the specifics of this are provided to successful applicants along with a deadline date for completion).
