Tour Itinerary & Suggested Drives DAY 1 Departing Laon after breakfast, today you ll have the choice of taking a leisurely scenic or direct drive through France and to the Black Forest with arrival at the Hotel Schloss Hornerg late afternoon - Mileage approx. 302 miles DAY 2 The Day at Leisure OR - A scenic drive along the German Clock Road (Deutsche Uhrenstrasse) What could be more typical of the region than the German Watch-and-Clock Makers Road (Deutsche Uhrenstrasse)? It links the Black Forest villages, museums and clock manufacturers that continue the centuries-old tradition of making timepieces, including, of course, the famous cuckoo clock! And it is so pretty, too: forest and meadow, trout streams and shingle-roofed Black Forest farmhouses. DAY 3 The Day at Leisure OR A spectacular drive through the Black Forest High Road to the famous spa town of Baden Baden(Schwarzwaldhochstrasse) Anyone visiting the Black Forest by car must drive the Schwarzwaldhochstrasse. At about 3,000 feet/900m, the 44- mile/70km stretch of the B 500 road runs along the ridges of this low mountain range. Along the way, you can look up at the 4,900-ft/1,493m Feldberg, the highest point in the Black Forest, and down into some spectacular ravines. OR Enjoy a morning visit to the National Automobile Museum in Mulhouse with 400 vehicles on show, the Schlumpf Collection is certainly the most prestigious collection in the world and well worth a visit. Then in the afternoon exlore the Alsace Wine Road to the picture-postcard town of Colmar before returning to the hotel late afternoon. Hotel Schloss Hornberg This castle hotel in Hornberg lies in the hills above Gutachtal Valley in the Black Forest surrounded by its own gardens and offers spacious rooms with free Wi- Fi. DAY 4 Departing the Hotel and the Black forest after breakfast, today you begin the homeward drive through France and into Belgium for an overnight stop in the wonderful town of Dinant - Milege approx. 254 miles DAY 5 Departing after breakfast today sees you making your final journey back to Calais and the UK.
