HIRING AN APPRENTICE Apprenticeships Explained Apprentices are aged 16 and over and combine on-the-job training with studying towards their chosen apprenticeship qualification, and can be new or existing employees. In regards to hours of work, Apprentices must work for a minimum of 30 hours per week. Apprentices or employees undertaking an apprenticeship must be paid the National Minimum Wage rate per hour dependent on their age whilst working for you. Higher Apprenticeships in Advertising & Marketing Communications have been developed by industry experts in response to the industry s current and future skills needs. Knowledge and competence (Combined Qualification) TRANSFERABLE SKILLS, EMPLOYEE RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ERR) & PERSONAL LEARNING AND THINKING SKILLS (PLTS) The specification for Apprenticeship Standards in England in April 2013, Personal Learning & Thinking Skills (PLTS), Functional Skills & Employee Right & Responsibilities (ERR) are no longer mandatory in Higher Apprenticeships at levels 4-7.
