Curse withdrawals may affect academic prgress if the hurs earned d nt meet the criteria fr quantitative and/r qualitative measures fr satisfactry prgress. Nt meeting satisfactry academic prgress will have an adverse effect fr student aid eligibility. A student wh wishes t take three clinical curses (5 cr. hrs. each) must have the prir apprval frm the Dean f Nursing in rder t maintain their prgram plan. Upn apprval a student may nly enrll in the three clinical curses during the fall and spring semesters (summer excluded). These standards must have cmpnents f a Quantitative Measure (the Pace at which the student must be cmpleting their Prgram f Study) and a Qualitative Measure (the grades a student must be btaining in their cursewrk) and be reviewed at stated intervals. At LCN SAP is reviewed at the end f each enrllment perid. Academic prgress is evaluated the first time a student is awarded student financial aid and at the end f each term thereafter.
The Standards f Academic Prgress (SAP) apply t the fllwing prgrams: Federal Title IV Prgrams: Pell Grant and the Direct Lan Prgram (Staffrd Lan Prgram), and the Direct Parent Lan fr Undergraduate Students Illinis Student Assistance Cmmissin Prgrams: Mnetary Award Prgram Veteran s Educatinal Benefits: All Chapters and Pst 9/11 Benefits Cmpletin Rate and Grade Pint Average Requirement Cmpletin f a minimum f 124 semester hurs credit with at least 60 semester hurs in general educatin curses and 64 semester hurs in nursing curses in accrdance with the curriculum plan is required. All grades earned in curses taken while a student is enrlled at the Cllege will be used as the criteria fr determining academic standards. The student is required t meet the standards listed belw r therwise eligibility t receive student financial aid will be placed in a Financial Aid SAP WARNING/Academic Prbatin status (the first time the minimum SAP is nt met) r a Financial Aid SAP SUSPENSION status (academically dismissed) r a Financial Aid SAP PROBATION status (if a frmal Appeal is apprved). T be in SAP GOOD STANDING a student must be meeting the minimum standards each enrllment perid by having and maintaining a cumulative G.P.A. f 2.5 and nt exceed the permitted number f withdrawals and/r failures t avid academic dismissal ( suspensin) and cmplete their prgram f study within the published time frames frmatted in credit hurs. PACE- MINIMUM CREDIT HOUR COMPLETION (Quantitative Measure) Once a student enrlls in a curse at Lakeview Cllege f Nursing, the degree requirements must be cmpleted within three calendar years fr a fulltime student and six years fr a part-time student. Cmpletin time may vary fr students changing frm full-time status t any ther status, withdrawing frm curses, r being granted a Leave f Absence; hwever, a student will never have mre than six years t cmplete the BSN degree requirements. At the end f each enrllment perid SAP is reviewed. Cumulatively a student must successfully cmplete a minimum percentage f all credit hurs attempted t stay n pace fr cmpleting their prgram befre reaching the maximum time frame allwed. Attempted credit hurs include any credit hurs in which the student was enrlled in after the refund perid is ver. If the student accepted Federal Title IV aid fr days attended during the refund perid (tuitin and fee charges are cancelled) but then ttally withdrew frm all credit hurs the student will be placed n SAP Suspensin. Hwever, this actin will nt result in Academic Dismissal but the student wuld need t reapply fr admissin t the cllege and submit in writing a SAP Appeal that has Cmmittee apprval t be reinstated fr student aid eligibility. Successful cmpletin f a class is a letter grade f A, B, C. Unsuccessful cmpletin f a class is defined as D (Pr/Failure), F (Failure ), W (Withdrawal), WP (Withdrawal Passing), WF (Withdrawal Failing) r I (Incmplete).
A student wh receives a D, F r U in labratry /clinical experience that causes them t fail the curse must retake the curse in the next semester the curse is ffered. Transfer Credit A student wh has attended ther pst-secndary institutins is required t have an fficial grade transcript frm these schls n file in the LCN Recrds ffice. Transfer credit that is evaluated t apply twards their prgram f study at LCN will be included in the ttal credit hurs attempted and earned as part f the quantitative measure (the Pace) f maximum time frame allwance. LCN s Academic Frgiveness plicy takes in t cnsideratin that a student may have had difficult times in his/her life resulting in a sub-standard academic perfrmance at a previus institutin. This can cause the cumulative GPA t fall belw the required 2.5/4.0 fr admissin int the cllege. A student wh finds themself in this situatin can write a statement asking the Admissin's Cmmittee t exclude this previus cursewrk frm the cumulative GPA calculatin. After the situatin has been assessed and deemed apprpriate, the cumulative GPA will then be figured using the last 48 credit hurs f cursewrk, which must be a 2.5/4.0. Hwever, any curse in which a grade f "C" r better has been earned may be evaluated and accepted fr transfer credit. All attempted cursewrk accepted will cunt in the quantitative measure. Minimum Percentage - A student is expected t cmplete all credit hurs attempted t be n pace fr cmpletin f prgram. Please see infrmatin regarding Academic Prbatin/Financial Aid (SAP) Warning and Academic Dismissal/Financial Aid Suspensin. If the student s clinical grade is satisfactry, the grade fr the curse is the thery grade. An unsatisfactry clinical perfrmance results in failure r an F grade fr the curse. Additinally, all students must achieve a 77% cumulative average n prctred in class and final exam(s) and a 77% cumulative average n all clinical written wrk. This des nt include take hme exams and pen bk exams. This will be cvered in the syllabus fr each class.
