Place pet waste loose into your organics (green lid) bin and not in plastic bags even those bags labelled biodegradable. If you have collected your pet s poo in a plastic bag, these will need to be emptied into your organics bin (green lid) and the bag placed in the waste bin (red lid). Kitty litter must be the compostable type that is made of compacted paper otherwise place in your waste (red lid) bin. Biodegradable is NT compostable. Biodegradable items may only be placed in the waste (red lid) bin. Small amounts of cooking oil can be disposed of in home garden composts. ousehold cooking oil can be stored in a sealable jar or wiped up with absorbent paper and placed in your waste (red lid) bin. Council provides a Kitchen rganics Basket and roll of liner bags to collect food scraps, napkins, tissues and paper towel for disposal into the organics (green lid) bin. emove all lids from jars, bottles and plastic containers. Plastic lids and bread tags can be collected in an empty plastic milk bottle and put in the recycling bin. If lids are too big (e.g. from margarine or ice cream containers) to be placed in the top, a slit can be created down one side to slip these through. Metal bottle tops and jar lids may be collected in a rinsed can, crushed to seal and placed into recycling (yellow lid) bin. Small amounts of shredded paper can go in the organics (green lid) bin, along with your garden and food waste therwise, you can put the shredded paper in a large paper bag, old envelope or cardboard box, so that it cannot clog the recycling machinery, and then put it into the recycling (yellow lid) bin. Ionisation type smoke alarms can be identified by the black and yellow radiation symbol which appears on the smoke alarm casing. An exemption under the Environment Protection Act 1995 permits up to two ionisation smoke alarms to be disposed of into your general waste (red lid) bin over a seven day period. ld photo-electric smoke alarms (no radiation symbol) can be discarded into your general waste (red lid) in any amount.
