AUX/IPOD EXTENSION CORD KIT KIT P/N 2877197 Application Victory Vision ; Victory Cross Country Before you begin, read these instructions and check to be sure all parts and tools are accounted for. Please retain these installation instructions for future reference and parts ordering information. This Kit Includes: Qty. IMPORTANT: For your safety, and to ensure a satisfactory installation, perform all installation steps correctly in the sequence shown. IMPORTANT: To ensure proper operation of your new audio accessory consult with your authorized Victory Service Center to have your radio software upgraded to match software of your audio accessory. Software level mismatches can cause undesired radio operation. NOTE: On Victory Vision models Polaris part number 5413122-Grommet may be purchased form your local dealer to seal the exposed hole in the storage compartment after AUX Extension cable is installed. ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS for Victory Vision 1. This kit requires that all audio components must be running the latest available software version. Consult with your authorized Victory Service Center to update all audio component software. 2. Remove key from ignition after insuring it is in the off position. 3. Lift both the left and right edge of the instrument bezel using a plastic windshield tool or a screwdriver protected with tape as to not damage the bezel. Figure 1. Figure 1-1-
4. Push and release the inner edge of the left compartment door to open it. Remove the rear console panel by lifting at the corner to release the tabs. Figure 2. Figure 2 5. Remove five bridge console screws using 4 mm and 6 mm Allen wrenches and a 10 mm socket as shown in Figure 3. Make a note of washer locations under the console and ground wire location under rear M6 console screw. 6 mm Allen Torque to 36 in. lbs. (4 Nm) in Sequence as Shown 4 6. Disconnect wires from console, including radio connector and AM/FM antenna. Note the locations for reassembly. Take care not to damage antenna connector when removing. 7. Remove console. 8. Remove AUX/iPod cord from storage compartment by removing the grommet holding the cord in place. This is achieved by gently pulling the cord towards the left side of the motorcycle (as sitting on it) through the storage compartment. Ground Wire 3 4 mm Allen 36 in. lbs. (4 Nm) Figure 3 10 mm Socket 2 1 9. Disconnect the AUX or ipod connection(s) by carefully pushing the locking tab on the main wire harness side of the AUX/iPod connections. Route wires back through the hole in the storage compartment. Figure 4. 10. Use Polaris PN 5413122-Grommet, or equivalent to seal the hole where the AUX/iPod cord was by inserting the grommet in the hole from the inside of the storage compartment. 11. Connect AUX Extension cord to main motorcycle harness. 12. Connect AUX/iPod harness to AUX Extension cord. 13. Route to desired location on motorcycle. Figure 4 14. Replace the center console loosely on the motorcycle. NOTE: Place a soft, clean cloth over the left fuel tank cover and the instrument panel to prevent cosmetic damage. 15. Lay the center console on its left side and connect all wires removed previously. Be sure wires are routed properly away from moving parts. Be sure wires do not rub on handlebars, triple clamp, or other moving parts. 16. Install console and align mounting holes. Install (four) M6 screws with ground wire attached to rear right M6 screw and washers in proper location that was noted when removing console. -2-
17. Torque screws as shown in Fig. 3 to 36 lb-in (4 Nm). For proper console alignment, tighten the rear left screw first, followed by the rear right, front left, and front right. 18. Install M4 screw in LH glove compartment. Torque to 36 lb-in. (4 Nm). Close and latch door. 19. Replace rear console panel. 20. Replace the instrument cluster bezel by aligning the tabs and pressing firmly until seated. ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS for Victory Cross Country NOTE: ipod Cord kit P/N 2877195 or AUX Audio Cord kit P/N 2877196 must be purchased with this kit. It is also recommended to purchase the ipod/mp3 player/cell phone case kit P/N 2877738 to mount your ipod or mp3 player in the right saddlebag. 1. Turn key to the off position and remove key from ignition. 2. Remove the headlight bezel by gripping it at the top outside edges. Pull forward using your thumbs to push against the headlight. Once the two upper spring clips come loose, move your fingers down the sides between the fairing and the bezel. WARNING: Do not bend the bezel downward until the lower two clips are disengaged. Pull forward to remove the bottom two spring clips. Figure 1. 1) Grip Bezel Along Upper Edge and Pull Forward to Disengage Upper Clips Figure 1 3. Remove the headlight assembly by removing the four screws with a 5 mm hex Allen socket wrench. Figure 2. 2) Slide Fingers Between Bezel and Fairings Along Sides and Pull Forward to Disengage Lower Clips Removed Four Headlight Fasteners 4. Disconnect the two electrical connectors from the back of the headlight housing by lightly prying the side tabs on the connector by pulling on the connector base. Figure 3. 5. Remove left and right side covers to access seat bolts. 6. Remove the two seat bolts using a 6 mm hex wrench. Retain screws for reinstallation. 7. Remove fuel tank screws using a 6 mm hex wrench. 8. Slide the fuel tank toward the rear of the bike to disengage front fuel tank mount tabs and set tank out of the way. 9. Remove right hand saddle bag. 10. Route the white 3 and 4 position male connectors behind the main wire harness on the left side of the steering head into the fairing. Route along the top of the frame using existing wire harness retention features. Figure 4. Cable Tie Route Under Main Harness and Through Hook Figure 4 11. Remove the two black rubber caps from the AUX/iPod (one 3-pin female connector and one 4-pin female connector) connection on the fairing harness and plug the AUX Extension cable in. The AUX/iPod will be bundled in the lower left (looking in from the headlight opening) cable tie. Figure 5. ipod/ AUX Connectors Figure 5-4-
12. Route the AUX Extension harness along the left side of the main wire harness until the harness reaches the plates that connect the main frame and sub frame, then route the harness between the two plates and follow the tail light wiring back to the fender. Route the AUX Extension harness next to the tail light wiring under the raised portion of the fender. Figure 6. AUX Extension Harness Figure 6 13. Route the harness between the sub-frame and fender making sure not to let the connector go too far down (the whole length of the connectors plus about ½ of the harness should be seen below the fender); too much length will cause the harness to make contact with the drive belt. Use a supplied cable tie to attach the AUX Extension Cable to the fender, to the rear lighting wiring under the seat, to the main wire harness crossover bundle under the rear of the fuel tank, and to the left side of the main harness by the steering head. Make sure to start at the rear of the motorcycle when attaching cable ties to ensure the length on the female end is correct. Figure 8. Cable Ties -5- Figure 8
15. Remove the solid grommet from the right saddlebag. 16. Insert the ipod Cord (kit P/N 2877195) or AUX Audio Cord (kit P/N 2877196) through the hole where the solid grommet was in the right saddlebag and seat the grommet attached to the ipod cord or AUX cable. Figure 8. Figure 9 17. Place the right saddlebag on the right exhaust and mate the connectors of the AUX Extension cable and the ipod or AUX Cord. For ease of installation pull the AUX/iPod cable toward the fender to allow more room for connections to be made. Figure 9. Figure 10 18. Replace the right saddlebag by inserting the locking pins and twisting them clockwise to engage. 19. Replace fuel tank by gently placing the tank on the frame, next push the fuel tank forward to engage the front mounting features of the tank making sure the fuel line is routed under the tank as much as possible (see Figure 10), replace grommets, top-hats and screws. Torque to 18 ft. lbs. (25 Nm). NOTE: The use of rubber lubricant on the grommets will ease reinstallation. Fuel Lines Should Be Routed Under The Tank As Much As Possible Figure 11-6-
20. Replace seat by inserting the rear tab into the frame slot and setting the front on the front of the sub frame ensuring the seat tabs are not pinching any wire harnesses. Torque to 10 ft. lbs. (14 Nm). 21. Replace side covers by lining mounting tabs and firmly pressing tabs into the grommets. 22. Use a supplied cable tie to attach the AUX Extension cable to the fairing harness. Figure 11. 23. Reconnect the headlight connectors in the location noted while removing them. 24. Install the headlight with the M6 screws making sure the two alignment pins on each of the top and bottom bracket are engaged. Torque to 36 in. lbs. (4.1 Nm). Figure 2. 25. Install the headlight bezel by snapping the top and then bottom clips in place. Push straight back, do not twist the bezel.
