1 Installation Instructions For Use with PXPV230, PXPV265, PXPD230, and PXPD265 models Attention! - Please read these instructions completely before attempting installation. Always unplug the power supply receptacle. 2 1. Unplug unit/disconnect Power supply for the PTAC unit 2. Remove Decorative Front by pulling out and up from back bottom corners 3. Slide the Unit forward out of the Shell 4. On the rear side of the unit, remove the Fresh Air Door by opening the door to expose the two screws securing the filter to the inner wall. Remove the two screws and slide out the filter/door assembly (Figure 1) 5. Unhinge the door from the filter, and disconnect the spring wire attached on the bottom of the door. 6. Attach the Motor Mount to the Fan Bracket (Figure 2) Figure 1 Figure 2 Step _01 Friedrich Air Conditioning Co. Page 2 of 8

On the rear side of the unit, remove the Fresh Air Door by opening the door to expose the two screws securing the filter to the inner wall.

3 7. Align the Fan Bracket within the fresh air intake opening (Figure 3) NOTE: Fan not present within the PXPD models) 8. Secure the Filter within the Fan Bracket, and screw the filter to the inner wall, through the Fan bracket with the two supplied screws (Figure 4) 9. Using a Power Drill and 1/8 Drill Bit, drill a hole in the center of the top of the door flange, 3 inches from the hinge. Insert supplied.375 Screw from inside door and install the supplied wire nut over the screw. This will be the Motor s contact point to open the door. It is also necessary to bend the wire connector flange to the vertical position. 10. Reattach the Fresh Air door to the filter and secure the Spring to the hole on the door and fasten the spring to the existing screw to the right of the Fresh Air door (Figure 5) Figure 3 Figure 4 Figure 5 Bend flange to vertical position _01 Friedrich Air Conditioning Co. Using a Power Drill and 1/8 Drill Bit, drill a hole in the center of the top of the door flange, 3 inches from the hinge. Insert supplied.

4 11. Remove the screw securing the wire cover and route the Motor and Fan (if present) wires to the inner wire access opening. (Figure 6) 12. Wrap Fan (if present) and Motor wires with included Split Tubing for protection. 13. Attach the split tubing to the right side inner wall brace using the provided wire tie (Figure 7). Continue to route the wrapped wires through the existing wire clips (Figure 7) 14. Push Wires into the interior cabin Figure 6 Figure _01 Friedrich Air Conditioning Co. Page 4 of 8

Attach the split tubing to the right side inner wall brace using the provided wire tie (Figure 7).

5 15. On the indoor side of the PTAC, remove the screw securing the power cord to the base pan. 16. Where the power cord plugs into the control can, remove the screw holding the can to the inner wall (Figure 8) 17. Remove the screw securing the Control Panel to the Main Electronic Control Can. Leave all wiring to panel intact, and set Panel the side. 18. Remove the screw securing the Control Panel to the Main Electronic Control Can.

6 19. Pull the Main Electronic Control Can forward from the top of the inner wall. The rear tab will need to clear the inner wall s top flange. (Figure 9) 20. Lift the Control Can up and out, all wires will stay attached to the can. (Figure 10) 21. There will now be access to the inner wall. Figure 9 Figure _01 Friedrich Air Conditioning Co. Page 6 of 8

7 22. Place the PXPV/PXPD Control assembly into the lower slots. Wire the Fan, Motor, and Wiring Harness to the control assembly, according to the supplied wiring diagram. (Figure 11) (PXPD models will have no fan) 23. Reattach the Main Electronic Control Can to the inner wall. Begin be setting the can into the upper slots (Figure 11) 24. Find the PTAC Fan wiring connector, located on the left side of the Control Can (Figure 12). Disconnect the fan motors connectors and connect the PXPV/PXPD connectors (Figure 13). Wire Fresh air motor and fan to the PXPV/PXPD Control assembly. Refer to the provided Wiring Diagram for further wiring instructions (pg 8). 25. Secure the Control Panel back to the inner wall. Reattach the PTAC Decorative Front. Return the unit within the shell, and reconnect the power supply. Figure 11 Figure 12 Figure 13 Slots for Main Control Can Vent Door/Fan On/Off Switch Operation: Wired to PXPV/PXPD Control box Place the Vent Door On/Off switch in the ON position to activate the Power Fresh Air Vent (PXPV) or Powered Fresh Air Door (PXPD) PXPV- When the Vent Door On/Off switch is in ON and the PTAC s indoor blower is engaged, the powered door will open and the fresh air vent fan will run PXPD- When the Vent Door On/Off switch is in ON and the PTAC s indoor blower is engaged, the powered door will open When the Vent Door On/Off switch is in OFF, the door will remain closed and the fresh air vent fan will not run _01 Friedrich Air Conditioning Co. Find the PTAC Fan wiring connector, located on the left side of the Control Can (Figure 12). Disconnect the fan motors connectors and connect the PXPV/PXPD connectors (Figure 13).
