ARCOLA EAST COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION FITNESS SCHEDULE Fall 2016 / Winter & Spring 2017 The Arcola East Community Association runs a variety of fitness classes including cardio, sculpting, yoga, and pilates classes. Most classes are held at the Arcola East Community Centre complex (which houses the Arcola East Community Centre, Jack MacKenzie School, and St. Gabriel School). Please note that the schedule is subject to change. All instructors are properly certified to teach the classes they are teaching. Fall Session runs as noted below for 15 weeks.* Winter/Spring Session is scheduled to run from January 14, 2017 to May 18, 2017 for 16 weeks (No classes Feb. 20th 26 th and Apr. 15 th 20th) There are two prices listed. The FIRST price is for Fall only, or 15 weeks; the SECOND price is for the whole programming year which includes a discount. Due to the popular demand for some classes, you are strongly encouraged to sign up for the entire year. Deadline for refunds is September 26th, 2016. Please note that there is a $10.00 admin fee charged on all refund requests and NSF cheques. Your request must be made directly to Mandy Stephanson, Fitness Coordinator by September 29th, 2016. Please note cancelled classes are indicated along the top for the Fall Session. However, if participants and instructor agree to have class, classes will run as scheduled. CLASS DESCRIPTIONS Awesome Abs (Saturdays at 9:00am) Say good bye to love handles and strengthen your core in this fast paced 30 minute class. This class will incorporate some high Intensity interval training (HIIT) to warm up your body followed by full body movements and core strengthening exercises. This class is suitable for all levels. Class limit of 16 Body Blast (Thursdays at 6:00pm) This class works the body's major muscle groups (chest, upper/middle back, biceps, triceps, shoulders, lower back, abs, butt, legs, thighs). Work is done with flex bands (which are supplied), your own body weight, hand weights, stability balls, bosus, mini stability balls, and agility pods. This is a great class for all fitness levels. A total body stretch and relaxation concludes your 60-minute workout. While there is no cardio portion to the class, you should be prepared to be hot and sweaty! Class limit of 16 BootyBarre (Mondays at 8:15pm) Bootybarre is a fun, energetic, workout that fuses techniques from Dance, Pilates, and Yoga that will tone, define and chisel the whole body. Bootybarre is the perfect combination of strength and flexibility with an added cardiovascular element utilizing the barre. Class limit of 12 Chakradance (Wednesdays at 6:15pm) No dance experience is necessary to try Chakradance. It is a gentle moving meditation used to awaken and balance the seven energy centres in the body. This is done through meditation, intuitive dance, art and sharing. Participants are blindfolded to inspire a deeper connection to the music. More information can be found at Chakradance.com. Class limit of 15 Hot Momma! Postnatal Fitness (Mondays at 9:30am) Hot Momma! Postnatal Fitness classes focus on regaining strength, mobility, and familiarity with your body, reducing tension, bonding with baby, and forming connections with other moms. This class includes a full body workout including strength, cardiovascular, flexibility, and relaxation. Each class ends with a snack and peer-support discussion component, which will allow you to get to know the other moms in the group and talk about all things baby! Class limit of 10 Insanity Live! (Mondays at 7:00pm) This isn't your ordinary cardio conditioning class. This thrilling workout provides support and group motivation to challenge you to work toward your highest potential and unleash your inner athlete, no matter where you are starting from. Join us and start challenging the inner strength in you. Class limit of 15 Pilates with Toys (Tuesdays at 6:30pm) Pilates with Toys is a bodyweight conditioning routine focusing on the 5 principles of Stott Pilates. Pilates improves flexibility, builds strength and develops control and endurance in the entire body. We will use some small Pilates props (such as the stability ball, stability cushions, Fitness Circle, light weights, TheraBands, Bosu, etc) to add challenge or to support Pilates concepts. Mat classes will help you to perfect the 5 basic principles of Pilates that are key to performing the exercises safely and effectively. They show you how to breathe properly and position your body through the exercises. These principles will make you more aware of your core and help you get better results from your workout. The class allows for different exercises to be modified in range of difficulty from beginner to advanced or to any other level. Class limit of 10

Power Walk Run & Strength (Saturdays at 9:30am) Start your weekend with a BANG! This high energy class alternates running / walking with strength training that will provide a full body workout incorporating all major muscle groups. Improve your balance, shape, and strength using weights, stability balls, bosu balls, and bands. This class is suitable for all levels. Class limit of 16 Total Body Sculpt (Tuesdays at 7:00pm) This exciting class combines strength training tools such as free weights, bands, tubings and manual resistance to target all major muscle groups to build optimum strength. A great overall body workout with lots of variety and compound exercises working more than one muscle group with creative upper and lower body programs. Whether you are a beginner or advanced, this class offers strength training for everyone! Class limit of 16 Yoga Blast Bodyweight Fusion (Tuesdays at 6:00pm) Yoga Blast is a fast-paced yoga/bodyweight fusion class that combines the mindful approach and basic flow principles of vinyasa yoga with the reps and sets of a standard bodyweight workout! Designed to give you a quick full-body strength and cardio workout in one, this fun class will take you to the edge of what you thought your body was capable of in a safe and accessible way. Suitable for all levels. Class limit of 15 Yoga Continuing (Tuesdays at 9:30am) Cultivate self awareness through yoga practice. Using the body as a workshop, explore body, mind and breath at your own level. Students practice being present to all sensations of change in the body and end the class with relaxation. Class limit of 15 Yoga Flow into Connection (Mondays at 7:15pm) Plan to sweat, smile, and emerge renewed in this class. We will work on body awareness, linking breath with movement, to become your ultimate expression. Unleash your inner yogi and return to your true nature Joy! Come to connect. Come to breath. Come to fly. All levels and ages welcome! Class limit of 15 Yoga Gentle/Beginner (Wednesdays at 6:15pm; Thursdays at 9:30am) Cultivate self awareness through yoga practice. Using the body as a workshop, explore body, mind and breath at your own level. Students practice being present to all sensations of change in the body and end the class with relaxation. Class limit of 15 Yoga Teen Girls (13+) (Mondays at 6:00pm) When the physical, mental, and energy bodies align, one begins to glow from the inside out! In this class, we will work on body awareness, and movement with breath, while building strength and flexibility. Come to sweat, and free yourself for inner well-being and bliss, while experiencing a deep sense of belonging. Let us journey together and see where we can go! Class limit of 15 Yoga Power Vinyasa/Flow (Wednesdays at 7:30pm) Power Vinyasa Flow - Vinyasa Flow is connecting breath with movement. Sharma s teaching philosophy is focused on providing the tools for students to compassionately connect with the needs of their body. Practicing from a place of honour and well-being she weaves her love of mindful meditation throughout her classes. This class is best suited for those with some yoga experience or those who want to compliment a regular workout regime. Class limit of 15

Yoga Sunrise Yoga (Saturdays at 7:45am) Awaken your body and start the weekend finding peace and balance in a cozy room. Enjoy gentle stretching poses along with some challenging poses and end with a short meditation. Let go of your daily life and relax for an hour. This class is suitable for all levels. Class limit of 15 Yoga Vinyasa/Flow Multi-Level (Thursdays at 7:00pm) This class based in flowing movements will connect you with your breath as you build strength and endurance, develop your core awareness and improve your balance and posture. Come prepared to sweat, laugh and challenge yourself with playful asanas and breath work that will leave you feeling balanced and at ease. Class limit of 15 Yoga Vinyasa/Flow Multi-Level (Wednesdays at 9:30am) Vinyasa Flow is connecting breath with movement. Sharma s teaching philosophy is focused on providing the tools for students to compassionately connect with the needs of their body. Each Zumba class is designed to bring people together to sweat it on. Take the work out of workout, by mixing low-intensity and high-intensity moves for an interval-style, calorie-burning dance fitness party. Once the Latin and World rhythms take over, you ll see why Zumba Fitness classes are often called exercise in disguise! Super effective? Check. Super fun? Check and check! A total workout combining all elements of fitness cardio, muscle conditioning, balance and flexibility, boosted energy and a serious dose of awesome each time you leave class!
