2 Contents This booklet gives details of all of our summer events, offering a wide range of classes, courses and summer schools for all ages. 3 Children s Summer Classes A week-long course involving two daily classes in ballet and creative dance. Themed classes let you use your imagination to create an original dance with your teachers. A fun week ends with a lively presentation with props and make-up, for parents and guardians. Photo: Foteini Christofilopoulou Who can attend Students aged 4 7 years Venue RAD headquarters 36 Battersea Square, London SW11 3RA Dates Week 1: Monday 25 July Friday 29 July Week 2: Monday 1 August Friday 5 August Times Monday Thursday 4 5 years: 9.30am 11.15am 6 7 years: 11.30am 1.15pm Friday All students (4 7 years): 9.30am 1.30pm Fee 100 for one week Closing date for applications Monday 4 July Duration 2 x 45 minute sessions per day over 4 days, with a 15 minute break. The final day is longer for rehearsals and presentation. 01

4 Summer Schools Our Summer Schools let you develop your skills while trying out new styles of dance. Taking place in London and Dartington, each week closes with an open day to celebrate your achievements. Photo: Brian Slater 02

5 london Who can attend Students aged 8 18 years, studying RAD Grade 2 or the equivalent and above Venue RAD headquarters, 36 Battersea Square, London SW11 3RA Dates Monday 18 July Saturday 23 July Monday 25 July Saturday 30 July Monday 1 August Saturday 6 August Content Students take one-hour daily classes in: ballet group dance/repertoire creative dance hip hop, musical theatre or street jazz, and non-dance workshop, e.g. drama, singing or Benesh Movement Notation. Fees 368 for one week 663 for two weeks Fee includes a ticket to a West End show, disco, light buffet lunches, snack and drinks (Monday to Friday). Closing date for applications Tuesday 3 May (for all weeks) Accommodation Accommodation is available for an additional fee. See page 13 for details. DARTINGTON In association with Wayne McGregor Random Dance Who can attend Students aged 8 18 years, studying RAD Grade 2 or the equivalent and above Venue Dartington Hall, Totnes, Devon TQ9 6ED Dates Monday 25 July Saturday 30 July Content Students take daily classes, totalling a minimum of four hours per day*, in: ballet group dance/repertoire contemporary technique (senior levels) creative dance musical theatre, and singing (junior levels). Fee 289 Fee includes a film screening, light lunches, snacks and drinks. Closing date for applications Monday 9 May Accommodation Accommodation is available for an additional fee. 6 Summer Intensive Examination Syllabus Course Run over consecutive days, each covers syllabus classes, followed by pointe work and coaching of the variations for females, and virtuosity and coaching of the variations for males. Photo: David Tett Who can attend Students aged 11 years and above, studying RAD Intermediate Foundation Advanced 2, with a thorough knowledge of the complete syllabus, including their chosen variations We are only able to accept male students who are studying for RAD Intermediate Foundation, Intermediate, Advanced Foundation and Advanced 1 exams. Venue RAD headquarters, 36 Battersea Square, London SW11 3RA Dates Monday 22 August Friday 26 August Times Intermediate Foundation and Intermediate: 11.00am 1.45pm Advanced Foundation, Advanced 1 and Advanced 2: 3.15pm 6.00pm Fee 189 Closing date for applications Monday 1 August Students on the Summer Intensive Examination Syllabus Course, who are ready to take the exam, may do so in the week following the course. 7 Mat-based Pilates Course Improve your core strength and posture through stretching, muscle toning and conditioning. Pilates is popular with dancers for stabilising and strengthening core stability, and correcting body alignment. Each session includes precision breathing, release stretching, Pilates movements and relaxation. Also taking the Summer Intensive Examination Syllabus Course? 8 Summer Stages Step into the spotlight and join us for an inspiring and exhilarating week of dance. This specially designed intensive course shows you how it feels to be part of a creative process while developing your skills as a dancer and performer as you train for a week at RAD headquarters in London with students from around the world. Work with choreographers in ballet, repertoire, contemporary and jazz to create original dances that you ll perform in the RAD s performance space on the final day. Photo: Brian Slater 06

9 Who can attend Students aged 12 years and above, studying RAD Intermediate Foundation or the equivalent and above Venue RAD headquarters, 36 Battersea Square, London SW11 3RA Dates Monday 8 August Saturday 13 August Students are required to attend all timetabled classes Monday to Saturday as well as the performance on Saturday afternoon. Content Students take daily classes in: ballet repertoire contemporary dance, and jazz. They also participate in rehearsals for the performances. Fee 390 Fee includes a ticket to a West End show. Closing date for applications Friday 6 May Performance Saturday 13 August: 2.30pm A box office will operate from the main reception at RAD headquarters from Tuesday 9 August. 10 A week in the West End new for 2016 A week comprising three 2-day sessions letting you immerse yourself in some of London s most popular musicals. Each includes a masterclass and theatre ticket with the option to buy extra for friends and family. Multiple booking discounts are available. 12 Adult Summer Course An intensive course over five evenings covering: ballet improving body alignment, co-ordination and general well-being. This class has live piano accompaniment. jazz an energetic blend of modern dance styles. You ll learn a routine and improve your recall, musicality and performance. mat-based Pilates improves strength, posture, flexibility and balance. The perfect complement to dance training, this is a fun way to increase your fitness levels and to learn new skills. Designed to relax and invigorate, it is suitable for all levels. 14 Tuition awards & discounts Photo: Foteini Christofilopoulou Tuition Awards UK These are given at each RAD summer school and at Summer Stages to a student (at any level) who has shown significant improvement. The award is for one week s tuition at a summer school or Summer Stages in 2017 or Discounts Sibling discounts Two sibling students: 10% off total cost of tuition fees Three or more sibling students: 20% off total cost of tuition fees. Group discounts A 10% discount will be applied to the total cost of tuition fees for groups of 10 or more students within the same price band. Multiple booking discount A 10% discount will be applied to the total cost of tuition fees for any single participant booking two or more summer events at the same time. To qualify for these discounts, applications must be received together before the closing date. Only one discount can be applied per applicant. Please ensure you calculate the discount on the application form. 12

15 accommodation Accommodation is available for the London Summer Schools, Summer Stages and Dartington Summer School. Students must be at least nine years old to apply. London Accommodation fee includes: ensuite single rooms internet access breakfast and evening meals each day, and coach transfers to and from RAD headquarters. A private coach will transport residential students to and from the RAD each day, with chaperones and a housemother in attendance during the their stay. London Summer School Accommodation is at Digby Stuart Campus, Roehampton University, London. Residential students should enrol at Digby Stuart Campus as per the dates below. Confirmed times will be listed in the information pack. Week 1: Sunday 17 July Week 2: Sunday 24 July Week 3: Sunday 31 July Summer Stages Accommodation is at Marylebone Hall, University of Westminster, London. Residential students should enrol at Marylebone Hall on Sunday 7 August. Confirmed times will be listed in the information pack. Please note, accommodation cannot be booked for Saturday 8 August, for students attending either the London Summer School Week 3 or Summer Stages. Dartington Accommodation is onsite at Dartington Hall, Totnes, Devon TQ9 6ED. Residential students should enrol at Dartington on Sunday 24 July. Confirmed times will be listed in the information pack.
