May 15, 2012 RENAISSANCE COURT GALLERY CALL FOR EXHIBITION PROPOSALS The Chicago Department of Family & Support Services Senior Services, Area Agency on Aging and the Renaissance Court Gallery Committee invite Chicago area artists age 55 and over to submit proposals for one-person, group and organization sponsored exhibitions to be held between January 2013 - December 2015. We encourage artists to submit proposals, regardless of whether you have had the opportunity to hold a one-person or group show in the past. The following requirements must be met in order to submit: Artists must be age 55 or older and live in the Chicago area. Group or organization sponsored show submissions must include at least 90% of artists age 55 or older or include subject matter pertinent to older adults. Must submit a proposal using the Proposal Form for Individual Artist Exhibition in the Renaissance Court Gallery or the Proposal Form for Group or Organization Sponsored Exhibition in the Renaissance Court Gallery. Proposals must be submitted on or before the July 2, 2012 deadline. Artists should be living and still creating new works. Artists who have had exhibitions in Renaissance Court Gallery after January 2006 will not be considered. (Artists who have exhibited in group shows, but not as individuals, are eligible.) Craft exhibitions will not be accepted. Individual Artist Exhibitions: Artists must complete and submit the Proposal Form for Individual Artist Exhibition Artist in the Renaissance Court Gallery by the July 2, 2012 deadline. Group Shows or Organization Sponsored Shows: Exhibitions which include works of 3 or more artist are considered group shows. Groups must complete and submit the Proposal Form for Group or Organization Sponsored Exhibitions in the Renaissance Court Gallery by the July 2, 2012 deadline. PROPOSAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR INDIVIDUAL ARTISTS BIOGRAPHY AND EXHIBITION HISTORY Attach a brief biography and exhibition history of one page or less. Digital images Include 6-8 images of work in the style described in the proposal. Each proposal must include slides in the style of artwork proposed for the exhibition on a CD that can be down loaded. Please write your name on the CD. Digital images: Digital images (6-8) must be submitted in 72 150 dpi, jpeg format on CD. Please return a completed Inventory List (see Inventory List page) and include a thumbnail sheet of the images. Please do not send Power Point or images imbedded in a PDF document. Include a self-addressed, stamped envelope for the return of your materials. We will send them back following the jurying process. Other Standards Painting, drawing, photography, printmaking, mixed media, fiber art and three-dimensional objects are acceptable. If your proposal is accepted, the art work must meet professional framing standards and be ready to hang with wires firmly attached. Artists showing three-dimensional work must supply pedestals. Due Date: Monday, July 2, 2012 at 4:00 p.m. Submissions must be received in the mail or delivered to Renaissance Court on or before Monday, July 2, 2012 at 4:00 p.m. Proposals received after this deadline will not be considered. Those mailing entries should leave ample time for delivery. Following the initial judging, artists may be asked to come in for a more complete look at the artwork proposed for exhibition. Washington St. Chicago, IL 60602 If hand delivering, proposals will be accepted during regular work hours: Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., except holidays. The Renaissance Court Gallery Committee: The Renaissance Court Gallery Committee consists of artists as well as art professionals. The committee shall meet in to consider all the proposals. Artists will be notified by mail of their decision by August 15. The decisions of the gallery committee are final.
