1 Artist in Residence Application Parent Artist Residency The Neon Museum invites qualified Nevada artists to submit proposals for participation in the annual Parent-Artist residency. A partnership between the Neon Museum and the UNLV Marjorie Barrick Museum, the residency calls for working artists who are also parents or grandparents of children 18 and under to create work inspired and enjoyed by their children and, by extension, children of all ages. PROJECT SUMMARY: One (1) artist or artist collective will be chosen to create a project for a two day residency at the Neon Museum s North Gallery exhibition space. The residency must incorporate a participatory component in the form of a public program to be held in conjunction with the residency. All or part of work created for the residency or as a result of the public program will then be installed at the UNLV Marjorie Barrick Museum lobby for a minimum of 4 weeks. The artist is also asked to incorporate an additional participatory public program to be held at the Barrick Museum during, and in conjunction with, the exhibition. ELIGIBILITY: This project is open to visual or literary artists over the age of 18; artist must be a parent of at least one child under the age of 18. While preference will be given to artists registered with the Nevada Arts Council artist registry, all artists living in Nevada are eligible to apply. SELECTION: One artist or artist collective will be chosen. Selection criteria will include demonstrated artistic excellence, quality of proposal, quality of proposed public program, and a demonstrated ability to complete the project within the project schedule (below).

2 PROJECT BUDGET: Each artist or artist collective selected will be paid an honorarium of $1000 for materials, artist fee and travel costs. Each respective museum will provide staffing support to assist the artist in administering his or her program component. No additional funding is provided to the artist by the Museum. SUBMISSION: Qualified artists should 1.) complete the Artist in Residence Application Checklist (below) and submit it with: 2.) a signed Artist in Residence Application form; 3.) Support Materials as described in the Artist in Residence Application. Support Materials must adhere to the directions. Application materials must be ed via a Dropbox link or hand delivered. The deadline for submissions is Friday, October 2 at 5:00 pm.
