1 Dear Design Colleague: We are pleased to invite you to participate in the 10th Annual Interior Design Awards competition sponsored by the PA NJ DE Chapter of the International Interior Design Association. Each year the Interior Design Awards recognize outstanding built work designed by IIDA members in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware. The awards offer an opportunity to celebrate design excellence in our region and highlight the individuals and project teams responsible for the success of these noteworthy projects. Projects will continue to not be judged in competition with each other, but rather by measuring the designer s performance against each project s potential. As in past years, competition entries will be judged by a panel of senior design professionals in New York and all entries will be publicly displayed at the gallery space during the awards ceremony. The jurors will review the entries as a slide show of projects and select the award winners. Award winners will be announced at a reception on June 25, The jury will have sole discretion to determine whether to select a recipient for an award as defined below and how many awards to present. Projects will be considered for the following awards: Best of Year : Awarded to a single work of the most exemplary design quality. Design Excellence Awards: Awarded to works that exemplify high overall design quality. Design Honor Awards: Awarded to works to recognize selective high design quality. Exemplary Element Awards: Awarded for a particular aspect of built work (including furnishing) embodying exemplary design innovation and/or craftsmanship. People s Choice: With the success of last year s People s Choice Award, we will be utilizing the Text-to-Vote again. In addition to the general public voting, we will be sending an blast with an image and short description of the project for the design community to vote as well. IIDA Design Awards Committee s Choice: This award is chosen by the 2015 IIDA Design Awards planning committee. And represents what they feel is the project that best represents design excellence. We look forward to receiving your competition entry and hope you will join us on June 25, Sincerely, The IIDA Design Awards Committee Entry Requirements An entry CD, production photos (CD) and an exhibit board must be submitted for each project. Refer to instructions on page 3 of this packet. Project design must be by an office or individual practitioner located in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, or Delaware. Project construction must be completed between January 1, 2012 and May 1, Projects completed prior to 2012 and projects currently on-the-boards or under construction are not eligible. One staff member at each participating firm must be a member in good standing of IIDA. This staff member is to be listed as the contact on the project entry cover sheet and project identification form. A copy of this person s IIDA membership card must be included with your submission. Membership cards are available at By submitting your project, you are granting IIDA the right to reproduce submitted images for marketing purposes. Participating firms are responsible for obtaining permission to exhibit and/or publish project information and photos prior to submission. 3 Submission Requirements: Binders are no longer required. Entries must be submitted on a CD in pdf format. Two pdf documents per entry are required, the entry and the Project Identification form. Multiple entries can be on a CD. Please include in CD case a removable label or document indicating the firm name and each project. All entries will be assigned a number and will remain anonymous to the judges. No reference to the firm, individual project architects, interior designers or affiliated contractors should be visible in the entry pdf. If the project is the submitting firm s office or facility, the firm name, logo or other identifying element should not be visible in any images. 1. Publication Photos: A CD with four images of each project (JPEG or TIFF only, max 300 dpi) is due with entry form. These photos are used in the awards presentation and IIDA publications. Please label CD and CD case with firm name and title photo(s) by project. Please indicate priority of photos in title, 1 being the preferred photo, 2 the next, etc. (for example DoeResidence_1) 2. Entries will be submitted on CD in pdf. format (See Below). More than one entry may be placed on a CD. The label on the CD case and disc must identify Firm and list projects submitted. Individual CD s per project are NOT required. All forms will be made available in electronic format for your use. 3. Each entry CD must contain the following: a. Entry Cover Sheet pdf (no larger than 7 mb) Identify document by project name_entry Form. (Refer to Page 5) b. Project Information: Project name, client and completion date must appear at the top of the first page of pdf. c. Project description: Please include client name, project name, project location, completion date, and a brief project narrative (maximum 300 words). The project description should include building/site description, project goals and unique aspects of the project. No reference to the firm, individual project architects, designers, consultants, contractors, or other team members should be visible in the entry document. d. Illustrative material: Maximum 12 page (including project information, description and images). Images (300 dpi) should include a site plan (if relevant), one (1) representative floor plan, maximum of (1) exterior and minimum of (3) interior images. Multiple images on a single page are acceptable. Please consider that your submission will be projected onto a screen for viewing by the jurors. No reference to the firm, individual project architects, designers, consultants, contractors, or other team members should be visible. e. Project Identification Form pdf (no larger than 7 mb) Identify document by project name_id Form. One identification form per project must be completed and included on CD as a separate document than entry. Participating firms must include team contact information as noted on the form. 4 Exhibit Board Requirements: Boards must be 40 x40 and mounted on 3/8 or 1/2 thick Masonite, sintraboard, or gatorfoam. Boards are not to exceed 10lbs. Plastic laminate on particle board, painted particle board, or other materials exceeding 10lbs will not be accepted. Boards mounted on regular foamcore are prone to warping and will not be accepted. Please ensure that all edges are wrapped or neat and presentable. Boards must be delivered per the instructions listed on page 2 of this packet. Please package boards in brown paper or plastic to prevent damage during delivery to the display venue. Please note that the display venue is a public space and that IIDA is not responsible for damage that may occur while the boards are on display. Placement of boards within the exhibition space is at the discretion of the Interior Design Awards Committee. Entries may be arranged so that boards from firms with multiple submissions appear together. No changes to the exhibit layout will be made for any reason. Participating firms must pick up their boards from the Steelcase showroom between Friday, June 25 and Tuesday, June 30. Please note that no packaging materials will be retained while boards are on display. Should you engage a courier service to reclaim your boards, please advise them of the nature of the pick-up. All boards that are not picked up by June 30, 2015 will be disposed of. 4 P a g e
