Be sure to stop by designated welcome areas to receive free gifts and seek assistance as needed. FALL LEADERSHIP RETREAT TERRAPIN ADVENTURES Saturday, October 1 The retreat is intended for those interested in becoming more comfortable with their leadership skills. Whether you are new to campus or a seasoned leader, you will find yourself challenged and welcomed! We will participate in trust-building exercises in the great outdoors, including a low-ropes course and team-building activities. Deadline to register is Friday, September 30. CCBC Catonsville: Thursday, November 10 at 1 p.m. Student Services Center, Room 100 CCBC Essex: Monday, November 7 at 12:30 p.m. College Community Center, 2 nd floor lobby AQUARIUM NIGHT Tuesday, November 22, 7-10 p.m. Office of Student Life sponsors the annual CCBC night at the National Aquarium in Baltimore. Admission for all CCBC students is FREE with a valid CCBC ID; tickets for faculty, staff and guests are $1. There is a limit of four guest tickets per person. STUDENT LEADER PROGRAMS The Student Leader Programs are seeking motivated students who are interested in serving the college while also gaining leadership skills and tuition reimbursement. FYE Mentor Program: Mentors assist the FYE program by helping first-year students feel comfortable and connected to CCBC, participating in CCBC s New Student Orientation, collaborating with ACDV instructors to assist with in-class workshops, sponsoring and supporting FYE events, and attending weekly office hours to allow students the opportunity to seek one-on-one support and mentoring. Student Life Ambassador Program: Ambassadors assist with Student Life events, give campus tours to prospective students, blog for CCBC s website, assist with Peak Registration, and represent CCBC at a variety campus events. Student Government Association: There is a Student Government Association on each of the three main campuses. The executive board members advocate for students regarding policies and regulations that affect students collegiate experience. To be considered, students must have completed at least one semester and 6 billable credits at CCBC, be enrolled in a minimum of 6 billable credits per semester, commit for at least one semester, have and maintain a 2.3 GPA, and attend mandatory team meetings. ALTERNATIVE BREAK Make a choice to spend your break making a difference in a community and in yourself! Alternative Break is an immersive program that allows students to spend a week serving others. Students travel outside of Maryland and in some instances the U.S., at a very low cost to deeply engage in the experience. This year, there will be a winter trip from January 14-21 and a spring trip from April 8-15 Information about the winter trip including the location & applications will be available the first week of classes. If you are interested, email Toni Aho at taho@ccbcmd.edu for additional information. SPRING LEADERSHIP RETREAT Kick the semester off right with an overnight leadership retreat January 10-11. Specific date details to be announced soon. Contact your Student Life Office for more details. Faculty, staff and guest tickets are just $1 each, with a limit of five tickets per person. Exhibits include: Dinosaur Mysteries, The Blue Crab, Newton s Alley, Harbor Lobby, Human Body, Cells: The Universe Inside Us, OPIS, and three planetarium shows (7 p.m., 7:45 p.m. and 8: 30 p.m.). Planetarium tickets will be available at the door. First-come, first-serve! Tickets are limited and available through the CCBC Catonsville and CCBC Dundalk Student Life offices and the CCBC Essex Box Office.
