CLASS of 2013 SENIOR Activities/Responsibilities Senior Awards Night May 20 th, 6:30 p.m., PBCHS Auditorium. This is a special opportunity for students to be recognized for all their achievements and accomplishments. Class/subject awards will be presented as well as scholarship awards. Students receiving individual recognition will receive invitations in late April; however, all seniors are invited to attend this event with their parents/guardians. We will begin promptly at 6:30 p.m. Dress for the event: Boys - dress slacks, collared shirt, tie, dress shoes Girls nice dress/skirt (must be at least mid thigh in length) or slacks outfit, dress shoes (no strapless or Spaghetti straps tops) No sneakers, shorts, jeans, or head coverings. Senior Check-Out May 20 th Students will report to the Palm Beach Central High School auditorium during their assigned alpha time slot for the MANDATORY check-out process. Seniors will proceed through several stations set up around the auditorium. All textbooks/library books must have been returned and all financial obligations must be met and fees paid (cash or money orders only!) prior to this day. Guidance will do a final check to ensure graduation status. At the final station, students will receive their cap, gown, and tassel. These will be provided only after all conditions have been met and the check-out sheet is completed. Medallions will be distributed the morning of graduation in the staging room. Rehearsal in the Palm Beach Central Auditorium May 22 nd. This is MANDATORY. Students only are to attend and must arrive no later than 7:45 a.m. and remain for the entire rehearsal. All students must enter through the auditorium lobby. Students who do not attend the rehearsal will not be allowed to walk on May 23 rd. We do not want any students or parents to be disappointed, so please be in attendance. Graduation tickets will be distributed following rehearsal; students must present a photo I.D. (school I.D. or driver s license) in order to receive tickets. Senior Breakfast May 22 nd This event is planned for seniors only and is sponsored by the senior class. Students will report to the cafeteria after the mandatory rehearsal for breakfast. Graduation May 23 rd at the South Florida Fairgrounds, 12:00 noon. Students must arrive no later than 10:00 a.m. and assemble in the staging area as directed. Doors will open for invited guests at 11:00 a.m. Guests must be inside the graduation hall before 11:45 a.m. as the doors will then be closed until after the processional, anthem, and pledge. The doors will reopen at 12:20 p.m., and guests will be directed to available seats. Avoid being shut out arrive early plan for traffic delays. Requirements to participate in graduation ceremony : 1. have the required 24 credits 2. be cleared of all financial obligations 3. sign a graduation agreement 4. attend mandatory rehearsals Appropriate Dress must be worn. Males are to wear dark dress pants, white dress shirt, tie, and dark dress shoes. Females are to wear dresses (dress code appropriate) or nice pants outfit and dress shoes. No denim (jeans), bright or dangling jewelry, sunglasses, head coverings, sneakers, flip flops. Gowns are worn over the dress outfit, and caps are placed flat on the head with the tassel on the right. Medallion is worn around the neck.

Only approved cords and stoles designating membership in national honor societies are permitted. No pins. NOTE: If you have not yet ordered your cap & gown, you may do so online at www.herffjonespalmbeach.com; a credit card will be necessary to order online, and the total cost, with tax, is now $66.78. Otherwise, you may order from Herff-Jones representatives who will be on campus for the last time April 15-17 th during lunch in the cafeteria. Tickets Each graduate will receive 6 tickets. Families who do not need all of their tickets are asked to share with other families. If you know now that you will not need all 6 tickets, please notify Mrs. Donna Baxter, graduation co-coordinator. A limited number of extra tickets will be available and may be reserved by written request to Mrs. Baxter using the PBCHS 2012 Commencement Extra Ticket Request form posted on Edline between the dates of April 15 th and April 26th. No requests will be accepted after April 26 th. No one will be admitted without a ticket. Toddlers will require a ticket. Photography Grad Images will be taking graduation photos during the ceremony; these will be available for purchase from the vendor. Family members may not come into the graduation section on the floor or up on the stage to take photos. Pictures of students in caps and gowns should be taken before commencement as gowns will be collected immediately after the program. Graduation is a joyous celebration, but it is also a dignified and formal occasion, involving many serious components such as inspirational messages, speeches, and recognition of officials and accomplishments. We insist that students and audience maintain proper behavior throughout the ceremony. All are asked to be quiet and attentive. NO noise-making devices, flowers, or balloons will be permitted in the South Florida fairgrounds. Any student who arrives under the influence of drugs or alcohol will not participate in graduation. The audience is asked to turn off all cell phones and refrain from applauding or loud cheering until all names are called. This will allow all parents to hear their child s name called. Being respectful and considerate will ensure a fantastic graduation. Reminders for SENIORS The Class of 2013

1. Be at Palm Beach Central High auditorium on Monday, May 22 nd no later than 7:45 a.m. for a mandatory rehearsal. Do NOT bring or wear your cap and gown unless you need to make a switch to the size of your cap or gown. 2. Give all handouts provided at the senior meeting to your parents. They contain important information. 3. Turn in your Project Graduation wiaver form if you have not already done so. 4. Be at South Florida Fairgrounds on Thursday, May 23rd by 10:0 0 a.m. Follow guidelines for dressing appropriately. Do NOT bring your cell phone. 5. Remind your family and other guests about the graduation guidelines. NO noisemakers, flowers, balloons, or other disruptive items. Arrive early. Respect the dignity of the ceremony. 6. Do NOT do anything at the rehearsals or at graduation that will prevent you from receiving your diploma. 7. Take pictures wearing your cap and gown ahead of time. Gowns are turned in immediately following commencement with no opportunity for postcommencement gowned pictures. Graduation Information for GUESTS Class of 2013 Palm Beach Central High School In order to make the graduation ceremony a pleasant and enjoyable occasion for everyone, we re asking that all guests read and adhere to the following procedures. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Arrive at South Florida Fairgrounds at least 30 minutes prior to the start of the 12:00 noon graduation. Doors will open at 11:00 a.m. Traffic will be heavy. Plan accordingly. Use designated parking spaces available. Parking is available free at the fairgrounds. No one will be admitted during the processional. Doors will close at 11:45 a.m. and reopen about 35 minutes later. Don t be shut out! Restrooms are located outside the main lobby area. Please use facilities prior to the start of the ceremony. No horns or other noise making devices are permitted and will be confiscated. Violators will be removed from the ceremony. Seating is open. Please do not attempt to save large areas. Handicapped-seating is available to those in wheelchairs. A maximum of one guest may sit with an individual needing to sit in the handicapped-seating area. Turn off cell phones prior to entering the South Florida Fairgrounds. Unruly behavior will subject an individual to be removed from the ceremony. Guests under the influence of drugs or alcohol will be removed. Smoking is prohibited. No food or beverages are allowed. No flower deliveries will be accepted. No balloons are allowed. No strollers will be allowed in the main area. They are to be left in designated areas of the lobby. No facilities are available for secure storage of items. SAMPLE ONLY! Graduation Agreement [Actual form will be Class of 2013 completed and signed Palm Beach Central High School at checkout on May 20.] This is to certify that, upon successfully completing the checkout process, I am fully aware that I am obligated to fulfill the following for marching and receiving my diploma. 1. I am to attend the rehearsal at Palm Beach Central High School on Wednesday, May 22 nd at 7:45 a.m. 2. I am to arrive by 10:00 a.m. at the South Florida Fairgrounds for graduation on Thursday, May 23 rd.

3. I will be dressed following the graduation dress code upon my arrival at the fairgrounds on May 23 rd. 4. I am to proceed immediately to the staging area and remain there until the ceremony begins. 5. I am to behave with dignity and consideration for my fellow graduates and with respect for all adults at all times before, during, and after all rehearsals and the graduation ceremony. 6. I will write my name inside my cap to use for identification at the gown-return table after graduation. I must return the gown and have my cap identified in order to receive a ticket to exchange for my diploma. 7. I will not write on, decorate, or otherwise deface my cap and gown. Any infraction of the above provisions will result in my failure to be given the privilege to march and/or receive my diploma.
