Storage & Tranportation When loading HDPE/LDPE pipeline on the vehicle, care hould be taken to avoid impact and enure the vehicle board i free from any harp object like nail, cope iron, etc. While in tranit, pipeline hould be well ecured and well upported over the entire length of the pipeline. Where mechanical handling i employed, metal ling, hook and chain mut not come into direct contact with the pipeline. Pipeline hould be given adequate upport at all time and hould be tacked on a flat urface free from any harp object. Small diameter pipeline can be eaily carried without the ue of auxiliary equipment. Small diameter pipeline can be manually placed in the trench. Pipeline in larger diameter may neceitate either a pecial lifting bar or a ling; alway ue at leat 2 ling. Avoid poitioning pipeline or coil next to an exhaut ytem and other heat ource. Avoid placing any heavy load on top of pipeline. WARNING: DO NOT DRAG THE PIPELINE ACROSS THE GROUND AND AVOID SHARP EDGES. 5 Polyethylene (PE) Pipe
Compreion Fitting 16 Bar A tandard compreion fitting can be utilized to joint a PE pipeline. The compreion fitting are manufactured utilizing PolyPropylene (PP) material uitable for ue in contact with drinking water. The joint are contructed from a body and a lock-nut made from PolyPropylene, a Gaket made from Nitric Rubber of a hardne of 75, and a Locking ring made from white Polyacetal uitable at a maximum temperature of 10 o C, and at a nominal preure of PN 16 and PN 10 at 20 o C. Butt-Fuion Jointing In thi jointing technique the two pipe end are clamped in a hydrolic moving carriage which provide a bai for a number of econdary operation, a follow: The pipe end are trimmed o that they are clean, and o that when brought together or aligned there hould be no viible gap or tep between them. The pipe end are then heated imultaneouly againt a double-ided flat heater plate for a pecific time and at a pecific preure, depending on pipe diameter. Thi tage generally include a oak phae with heat continuing to be applied but with virtually no preure, to enure the pipe aborb enough heat to provide a ecure joint. Following the heating cycle, the end are brought together, again under preure, to form a complete joint. After a pecific cooling time, the Butt-Fuion machine i removed, for aembly onto the next joint. (In hotter climate, it i recommended that the cooling time are doubled). The cooled joint hould be inpected for bead ize and cleanline. De-beading of the joint provide an additional mean of aeing joint quality. Butt-Fuion jointing provide an ideal method for ize-to-ize replacement work, giving maximum poible capacity in new pipe within exiting line. Electro-Fuion Jointing Electro-Fuion fitting work on the principle of an integral electrical heating coil or mat. When energized, thi heat the adjacent material which expand cauing the fitting to be fully fued to the pipe. Thee fitting are energized uing a 40V electro-fuion control box; jointing hould be carried out uing the appropriate pipe clamp. It i important that a uitable 3KVa generator be ued to power the control box on ite. When jointing pipe with electro-fuion ocket fitting, there are a number of baic tep to follow to enure ound joint: Pipe end mut be cut quare and de-burred. Depth of entry mark mut be clearly indicated on pipe. The required urface mut be clean and dry and thoroughly craped. The correct ize pipe alignment clamp mut be ued to avoid movement during fuion. The correct fuion time and cooling period mut be oberved. (In hotter climate it i recommended that the cooling time are doubled). Fitting mut be left in their bag until immediately prior to jointing.
