Wells Cathedral School is unique as the only specialist music school in the UK which is set within the context of an all-round but high-achieving educational institution. The Head and Governors are now seeking to appoint an outstanding Principal for kindergartens in which will be the cornerstone of the school s first international venture. Advanced plans are in place to establish the schools in the exclusive Ichon and district of Seoul in conjunction with n business partners. The Principal appointed will lead the school from its infancy and work towards expanding the brand in and to establish the school on the basis of excellence in all aspects. To maintain a tightly scheduled momentum the person appointed will need to start not later than March 2016. He or she will be accountable to a board comprised of the Head and Director of Finance and Resources of Wells Cathedral School as well as n business partners. It is envisaged that the first kindergarten will open on a limited scale in September 2015 and more fully in March 2016. The pupils are likely to come from highly esteemed n families as well as senior expatriates. All families engaging will value the special ethos of Wells Cathedral School, with its unique mix of creativity and tradition, and the opportunity to benefit from the best of the English national curriculum and its Early Years Foundation Stage. For many this will be the first step towards a truly global education based on teaching the highest standards in the English language and the opportunity then to progress further to world-class institutions. Wells Korea would like to establish a kindergarten based on the Early Years (Nursery and Reception Classes, and KeyStage 1 (Year 1 and Year 2) curriculum. At Wells Korea the following classes will be available; 3-4 age group, 5 age group, 6 age group and 7 age group. Through the special partnership they will have with Wells Cathedral School, they are able to take advantage of the high quality resources and experience this school offers. This means the students will have a range of classes from specialist teachers in drama, dance, art and more as part of their education. Wells Korea will deliver a lively school schedule and happy, purposeful environment for children between the ages of 3 to 7 years old. The staff encourage the children to grow emotionally, socially and intellectually, giving them the confidence and independence to cope with the demands of school life as they mature. Wells Korea intends to promote the recent Forest Schools initiative from Wells Cathedral School. This hands on program uses learning and teaching strategies which develop confidence, independence, team working and communication skills. The tradition of excellence in music at Wells Cathedral School is something that sets the school apart from others and allows children to become experts in their chosen field. In we aim to establish a bespoke musical program offering students the opportunity to develop a true passion and proficiency in music and the arts. Person Specification Proven and successful experience in kindergarten school leadership either as an outstanding and high-flying deputy head with relevant experience or an experienced head possessing the flair and energy to take on a major international challenge A collegiate and collaborative team-player capable when necessary of decisive management with an instinctive feel for the correct relationship between head and the board A confident and impressive communicator who will command the interest and imagination of staff, pupils and parents. Someone who will spearhead marketing and public relations in all their facets A strategic and intuitive thinker, an educationalist expert in early years and abreast of change with the capacity to inspire great learning and outcomes; a person who recognizes the traditional perspective of the best preparatory and early years schools but also aware of trends in contemporary education and the importance to leavers of gaining access to the best secondary schools An internationalist with an ability to adjust quickly and successfully to different cultures A first class manager who clearly prioritises and has excellent time-management, conversant with latest technology Business literate fully understanding the importance of P / L and the need for the school to be successful in a commercial context; a natural networker who can bring both institutions and key individuals to understand the ethos and creative spirit that makes Wells Cathedral School so special. Scope and Purpose of the Role The core purpose of this role is to provide professional leadership and management of the school that will promote a secure foundation from which to achieve high standards in all areas of the school s work and future development.
