Managing Director: - (1 Post) LU/AD/1/2014 Applicants must have a Bachelor s degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Economics or related field and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from a recognized university. In addition, the applicant must have at least five (5) years experience in managing a business company or an organization, three (3) of which must have been at a Senior Management level. Responsibilities: The incumbent will be in charge of coordination and management of all Income Generating enterprises of the University. This is a Senior Management position requiring an individual who is dynamic, focused, self-driven honest, and with capacity to generate and implement sound business plans on behalf of the University and deliver within set targets and timelines. He/ She shall prepare quarterly and annual reports to the Company Board of Directors of Laikipia University Investment Services (LUIS) Limited and/ or University Management Board and Council. Terms of Service The successful applicant for the above post will be hired on a three (3) year contract with a competitive negotiated remuneration package. The contract will be based on agreed performance targets and is renewable on mutual agreement. 2. Legal Officer Grade 12 (1 post) LU/AD/2/2014 Applicants must be holders of a Bachelors of Law (LLB) degree and admitted as an advocate of the High Court of Kenya, and must have a current practicing certificate. They must have a post qualification working experience of at least 2 years and demonstrate knowledge and understanding of Civil, Criminal and Corporate Legal Practices. Successful candidates will ensure all Legal matters of the University are effectively managed, oversee Contracts, Agreements and MOU s, among others, which the University enters with other parties, liaising with the Legal Departments in the government and other organizations. 3. INTERNAL AUDITOR I GRADE 12 LU/AD/3/2014 Applicants should be holders of a Bachelor s degree in Commerce (Accounting Option) or its equivalent. In addition, they should be holders of CPA(K) or CIA(K) and have 3 years experience as Auditor II in a larger government institution. Those with Masters in Business Administration (MBA) will have added advantage. Applicants must also be computer literate in relevant accounting packages. 4. MARKETING OFFICER GRADE 10 LU/AD/4/2014 Applicants should be holders of a Bachelor s degree in Business Management/Commerce/with a specialization in Marketing from a recognized Institution. In addition, they should have a wide experience in marketing from service industry for at least 3 years. The position requires a result oriented person who should show a good track record from previous experience. The successful candidate will be expected to design marketing strategies for the University Programmes and other services. 5. SECURITY OFFICER II LU/AD/5/2014 Applicants should be holders of a Bachelor s degree in a relevant field and at least 3 years experience in Security matters. Those who have attained the rank of Inspector of Police from the Police Force will also be considered. Successful candidate will, among other duties, ensure security of students and staff, and coordinate security issues in the University. DIVISION OF ACADEMIC AND RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF ARID LANDS MANAGEMENT 1. Associate Professor: - (1 Post) LU/AC/1/2014 Be holders of an earned PhD degree in the field of Natural Resources Management with a bias in arid and semi-arid lands management from a recognized university. Have at least eight (8) years of university teaching, four (4) of which must have been as a full-time Senior Lecturer. Evidence of supervision of post graduate students. Have at least four (4) articles in refereed journals since being appointed as Senior Lecturer. Have evidence of successfully applying for a grant either individually or as a group since being appointed as Senior Lecturer. Have evidence of active participation in departmental activities and good quality teaching. Have evidence of attendance and contribution at learned/ academic conferences, seminars or Have affiliation to professional bodies. Be computer literate.
