Managing Director: - (1 Post) LU/AD/1/2014 Applicants must have a Bachelor s degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Economics or related field and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from a recognized university. In addition, the applicant must have at least five (5) years experience in managing a business company or an organization, three (3) of which must have been at a Senior Management level. Responsibilities: The incumbent will be in charge of coordination and management of all Income Generating enterprises of the University. This is a Senior Management position requiring an individual who is dynamic, focused, self-driven honest, and with capacity to generate and implement sound business plans on behalf of the University and deliver within set targets and timelines. He/ She shall prepare quarterly and annual reports to the Company Board of Directors of Laikipia University Investment Services (LUIS) Limited and/ or University Management Board and Council. Terms of Service The successful applicant for the above post will be hired on a three (3) year contract with a competitive negotiated remuneration package. The contract will be based on agreed performance targets and is renewable on mutual agreement. 2. Legal Officer Grade 12 (1 post) LU/AD/2/2014 Applicants must be holders of a Bachelors of Law (LLB) degree and admitted as an advocate of the High Court of Kenya, and must have a current practicing certificate. They must have a post qualification working experience of at least 2 years and demonstrate knowledge and understanding of Civil, Criminal and Corporate Legal Practices. Successful candidates will ensure all Legal matters of the University are effectively managed, oversee Contracts, Agreements and MOU s, among others, which the University enters with other parties, liaising with the Legal Departments in the government and other organizations. 3. INTERNAL AUDITOR I GRADE 12 LU/AD/3/2014 Applicants should be holders of a Bachelor s degree in Commerce (Accounting Option) or its equivalent. In addition, they should be holders of CPA(K) or CIA(K) and have 3 years experience as Auditor II in a larger government institution. Those with Masters in Business Administration (MBA) will have added advantage. Applicants must also be computer literate in relevant accounting packages. 4. MARKETING OFFICER GRADE 10 LU/AD/4/2014 Applicants should be holders of a Bachelor s degree in Business Management/Commerce/with a specialization in Marketing from a recognized Institution. In addition, they should have a wide experience in marketing from service industry for at least 3 years. The position requires a result oriented person who should show a good track record from previous experience. The successful candidate will be expected to design marketing strategies for the University Programmes and other services. 5. SECURITY OFFICER II LU/AD/5/2014 Applicants should be holders of a Bachelor s degree in a relevant field and at least 3 years experience in Security matters. Those who have attained the rank of Inspector of Police from the Police Force will also be considered. Successful candidate will, among other duties, ensure security of students and staff, and coordinate security issues in the University. DIVISION OF ACADEMIC AND RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF ARID LANDS MANAGEMENT 1. Associate Professor: - (1 Post) LU/AC/1/2014 Be holders of an earned PhD degree in the field of Natural Resources Management with a bias in arid and semi-arid lands management from a recognized university. Have at least eight (8) years of university teaching, four (4) of which must have been as a full-time Senior Lecturer. Evidence of supervision of post graduate students. Have at least four (4) articles in refereed journals since being appointed as Senior Lecturer. Have evidence of successfully applying for a grant either individually or as a group since being appointed as Senior Lecturer. Have evidence of active participation in departmental activities and good quality teaching. Have evidence of attendance and contribution at learned/ academic conferences, seminars or Have affiliation to professional bodies. Be computer literate. The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and postgraduate academic programmes, supervise student research projects, conduct research and take up administrative duties. 2 P a g e

Senior Lecturer: - 1 post LU/AC/2/2014 Be holders of an earned PhD degree in Natural Resource Management with a bias in arid and semi-arid lands management or related field from a recognized university. Assistant Lecturer: - (1 Post) LU/AC/3/2014 Be holders of a Master s degree in Veterinary Clinical Studies from a recognized university. Be holders of a Bachelor s degree in Veterinary Medicine and Surgery from a recognized university. Be members of the Kenya Veterinary Association and registered by the Kenya Veterinary Board. Have attended and contributed at learned/ academic conferences, seminars and Demonstrate potential for University teaching and ability to enroll for PhD studies. Have good computer skills. The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate academic programmes, supervise student research projects and fieldwork, and conduct research. Successful candidate will be appointed on a (2) two year contract renewable subject to satisfactory performance. 3 P a g e

SCHOOL OF EDUCATION 4. Senior Lecturer: - 1 post LU/AC/4/2014 Be holders of an earned PhD degree in Agricultural Education and Extension from a recognized university. Have a teaching experience of at least 3 (three) years at the position of Lecturer. Have at least three (3) relevant publications in refereed journals, or 1 (one) book and two (2) publications in refereed journals. Have supervised postgraduate students. Have attended and contributed at learned/ academic conferences, seminars or Have affiliation to professional bodies. Have demonstrated academic and administrative leadership. Be computer literate. The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and postgraduate academic programmes, supervise student research projects, conduct research and take up administrative duties. DEPARTMENT OF SPORTS SCIENCE AND GAMES 5. SENIOR LECTURER LU/AC/5/2014 Have a PhD degree in sports Science or its academic equivalent in the relevant field from a recognized academic institution. Have at least five (5) years of University teaching or research, three of which must have been at Lecturer. Have at least three (3) articles in refereed journals after attaining the grade of Lecturer. OR Have a Masters degree in the relevant area from a recognized academic institution, plus five (5) years of University teaching experience after becoming lecturer, and must be registered for a PhD. Have five (5) publications after attaining the grade of lecturer. Should have successfully supervised postgraduate degree students. Should have attended and contributed at learned conferences, seminars or Should have evidence of continued research and effective teaching. Should have evidence of contribution to university life through active participation in departmental matters, students academic advising, faculty matters, committee membership, etc. Should be a member of recognized professional societies and associations. 6. ASSISTANT LECTURER LU/AC/6/2014 Be holders of a Masters degree in Sports Science or its academic equivalent from a recognized academic Institution. Have attended and contributed at learned /academic conferences, seminars and Demonstrate potential for University teaching and ability to enroll for PhD studies. Successful candidate will be appointed on a two year contract renewable subject to satisfactory performance. 7. Holders of Masters Degree in the relevant field with at least 3 years teaching experience at University level and two (2) publications in refereed journals will also be considered. 9. DEPUTY UNIVERSITY LIBRARIAN GRADE 13 LU/AC/9/2014 Applicants should be holders of a Ph.D degree in Librarianship or any other equivalent qualifications. In addition, applicants should have served at the level of Senior Assistant Librarian in a large institution for at least three (3) years. Holders of a Masters degree with 5 years experience and at least three (3) publications will also be considered. They must be computer literate. 10. ASSISTANT LIBRARIAN GRADE 12 LU/AC/10/2014 Applicants should be holders of a Masters degree in Library and Information Studies or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
