SCHOOL OF EDUCATION PROGRAMMES ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS MODE OF STUDY UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMMES 1. Bachelor of Education (Arts) (i) Minimum Mean Grade of C+ (Plus) at KCSE and must have at least a minimum of C+ in two teaching subjects (ii) A Level: 2 principals and a subsidiary. Diploma in Education from a recognized institution (Those with Distinction and credit may be admitted into 2 nd year of study) Full time 2. Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood and Primary Education) (i) Minimum Mean Grade of C+ (Plus) at KCSE (ii)- A Level: 2 principals and a subsidiary. (iii) Diploma in ECD from a recognized institution (Those with Distinction and credit may be admitted into 2 nd year of study) Full time 3. Bachelor of Education (Guidance and Counseling) 1

2 (i) Minimum Mean Grade of C+ (Plus) at KCSE (ii)- A Level: 2 principals and a subsidiary. Diploma in Counseling Psychology from a recognized institution. (Those with Distinction and credit may be admitted into 2 nd year of study) (iii) Those with Diploma in early Childhood Development and Primary Education or Special needs education will be admitted to 1 st year of study. Full time DIPLOMA PROGRAMMES 1. Diploma in Education (Arts) (i) Minimum Mean Grade of C+ (PLUS) at KCSE and C+ in two teaching subjects (ii) P1 certificate with a mean grade of C+ or its equivalent and C+ in two teaching subjects Full time 2. Diploma in Early Childhood Development and Primary Education (i) Minimum Mean Grade of C (Plain) at KCSE (ii) P1 Certificate (iii) A Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) certificate in Early Childhood Education or its equivalent from a recognized institution. Full time B. SCHOOL OF ARTS AND SOCIAL SCIENCES 1. Bachelor of Arts in Public Administration (i) Minimum Mean Grade of C+ (Plus) at KCSE (ii)- A Level: 2 principals and a subsidiary. (iii) Diploma in Public Administration or related field from a recognized institution (Those with Distinction and credit may be admitted into 2 nd year of study) Full time 2. Bachelor of Science (Communication & Public Relations) i)minimum Mean Grade of C+ (Plus) at KCSE and at least C+(plus) in English and C (plain) in Mathematics 2

Certificate in French Languages in the following levels: (A1,A2, B1 & B2) Minimum grade of D+ at KCSE level Any other certificate awarded by an institution recognized by University of Kabianga Senate Fulltime/Evenings/Weekends. Duration: Three (3) months per level C. SCHOOL OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY DIPLOMA PROGRAMMES 1. Diploma in Information Technology (IT) (i) Minimum grade of C-(minus) in KCSE with D+ (plus) in both Mathematics and English (ii) Diploma in other areas (iii) Certificate in Information Technology or in Computer Systems Technology 2. Diploma in Computer Science (i)minimum mean grade of C (plain) in KCSE with C- (minus) in both Mathematics and English (ii) Certificate in Information Technology from a recognized institutionand at least 2 years relevant working experience. Full time/weekends. Venue: Kapkatet Campus CERTIFICATE PROGRAMMES 1. Certificate in Information Technology (i) Mean grade D+ (plus)in KCSE or its equivalent, with at least D+ (plus) in both Maths and English Fulltime/Evenings/Weekends. 3

Bridging in Mathematics Biology Chemistry Physics (i) (ii) (iii) Minimum mean grade of C+ (plus) and above in KCSE and a minimum grade D+ (plus) in the subject to be bridged for those bridging for degree Minimum mean grade of C- (minus) and above in KCSE and a minimum grade D (plain) in the subject to be bridged for those wishing to join tertiary institutions Minimum mean grade of D+ (plus) and above in KCSE and a minimum grade D- (minus) in the subject to be bridged for those bridging for certificate course Fulltime/Evenings/Weekends. 5 (i) (ii) POST GRADUATE PROGRAMMES 1. Master of Science (MSc) in Forestry Options: i) Tropical Forest Biology and Silviculture Fulltime/Evenings/Weekends. Venue:Kericho Campus Holders of First Class or Upper Second Class Degree in Forestry or Biological Sciences from recognized University. Fields other than forestry will be required to satisfy pre-requisites to the postgraduate courses in forestry. Those with Second Class Honours Lower Division with at least two years relevant working experience. Note: Applicants from fields other than forestry will be required to satisfy pre-requisites to the postgraduate courses in forestry. 2. Master of Science in Agroforestry (i) Holders of First Class or Upper Second Class Degree in Forestry or Biological Sciences from recognized University. (ii) Holders of First Class or Upper Second Class Degree in Agriculture and Social Sciences from recognized University. (iii) Second Class Honours Lower Division in relevant fields and with at least two years relevant working experience. Note: Applicants from fields other than forestry will be required to satisfy pre-requisites to the postgraduate courses in forestry. Fulltime/Evenings/Weekends. 3. Master of Environmental Studies Option: Environmental Planning and Management (i) Holders of First Class or Upper Second Class Degree in Environmental Studies and allied disciplines from a recognized University. (iii) Those with Second Class Honours Lower Division with at least two years relevant working experience. Fulltime/Evenings/Weekends. UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMMES 1. Bachelor of Science in Forestry. 5

6 i. Two years ordinary Diploma with a distinction and credit in Forestry related field from a recognized Institution. NB: The target group of applicants are those who have done relevant diplomas and passed with credit/distinction to qualify for admission into 2 nd Year of study. Evenings/Weekends. Venue: Kericho Campus Duration: 3 Academic Years. (i) 2. Bachelor of Science in Agroforestry & Rural Development. Two years ordinary Diploma with a distinction and credit in Agroforestry related field from a recognized Institution NB: The target group of applicants are those who have done relevant diplomas and passed with credit/distinction to qualify for admission into 2 nd Year of study. Evenings/Weekends. Venue: Kericho Campus Duration: 3 Academic Years. (ii) Bachelor of Environmental Studies (BES) Arts Options: i) Environmental Planning & Management ii) Environmental Conservation and Management (i) Two years ordinary Diploma with a distinction and credit in Environmental Studies related field from a recognized Institution will be admitted to second year of study, those with a pass join first year of study. NB: The target group of applicants are those who have done relevant diplomas and passed with credit/distinction to qualify for admission into 2 nd Year of study. Regular/Full Time Intake: August/September, 2015 Venue: Main Campus Duration: 4 Academic years DIPLOMA PROGRAMMES 1. Diploma in Agroforestry 6

7 (i) Minimum Mean Grade of C- (minus) at KCSE with C- (Minus) in Maths/Physics, C- in any other two science subjects and C (Plain) in English / Kiswahili; ii) KCE Div. III with Pass in Mathematics or Physics, pass in any other two science subjects, and pass in English/Kiswahili ; iii) Holders of Certificate with Distinction, Credit or their equivalent in Forestry, Agroforestry, natural resource management, Agriculture, Horticulture, or in related fields from a recognized institution; iii) Holders of Certificate with Distinction, Credit or their equivalent in Farm management and Community development or in related fields from a recognized institution and at least 2 years field experiences in relevant fields are also admissible. Evenings/Weekends. E. SCHOOL OF AGRICULTURE AND BIOTECHNOLOGY POST GRADUATE PROGRAMMES 1. Master of Science (MSc.) in Agricultural Economics and Resource Management i) At least a BSc. or B.A. Second Class Honours (Upper Division) degree in Agriculture, Agricultural Economics, Economics, Commerce or other related disciplines, from a recognized University 7

8 (ii) A relevant BSc. or B.A. Second Class Honours (Lower Division) degree from a recognized university with relevant post-graduate diploma or one relevant publication in a refereed journal, or 2 published papers in a workshop proceeding, or 3 years relevant work experience. NB: These requirements are specific to the School of Agriculture and Biotechnology Evenings/Weekends Duration: 2 Academic years 2. Master of Science (MSc.) in Agricultural Extension i) At least a BSc. Second Class Honours (Upper Division) degree or its equivalent in Agricultural Education and Extension/Extension or other related disciplines, from recognized universities (ii) A relevant BSc. or B.A. Second Class Honours (Lower Division) degree from a recognized university with relevant post-graduate diploma or one relevant publication in a refereed journal, or 2 published papers in a workshop proceeding, or 3 years relevant work experience. NB: These requirements are specific to the School of Agriculture and Biotechnology Evenings/Weekends Duration: 2 Academic years (i) (ii) F.SCHOOL OF BUSINESS & ECONOMICS POSTGRADUATE PROGRAMMES 1. Doctor of Philosophy in Business Administration Master s degree of the University of Kabianga or from any other University recognized and accredited by the Commission for University Education in any of the following disciplines; Business Management, Business Administration, Commerce, and Economics. Any other Master s degree or equivalent in the relevant area recognized by the Commission for University Education Evenings/Weekends Duration: 3 Academic years 2. Be a holder of a degree at the level of bachelors with at least Second Class honours, Upper division in any discipline from University of Kabianga or any other institution recognised by the University Senate. ii. Be a holder of a degree at the level of a Bachelors with Second Class honours, Lower division in any discipline from University of Kabianga or any other institution recognized by the University Senate provided the candidate has two (2) years experience in a relevant field. Evenings/Weekends Duration: 2 Academic years 3. Master of Business Management Specialization options:- Strategic Management Accounting Finance Marketing Entrepreneurship Operations Management i. Holders of First second class Honours, upper division degree in Business, Economics, Administration Commerce from University of Kabianga an accredited University Recognized by University of Kabianga Senate. ii. Be a holder of a degree at the level of a Bachelors with Second Class honours, Lower division in Business, Economics, Administration Commerce from University of Kabianga an accredited University Recognized by University of Kabianga Senate with at least 2 years experience in a relevant field. Evenings/Weekends Duration: 2 Academic years 4. 10 - Entrepreneurship (3 Semesters) (i). Applicants must have a working experience of at least five (5) years at management level, PLUS (ii). A first degree in any discipline from a recognized University. (iii). A CPA(K) Certificate the equivalent (iv). Higher National Diploma in Business Studies Evenings/Weekends Duration: 2 Academic years UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMMES 1. Bachelor of Business Management (i) Mean grade of C+ and at least C(plain) in English/Kiswahili and Maths Business Studies Commerce at KCSE (ii) Two principal passes and one subsidiary pass at A - Level plus at least a pass in Maths (iii) and English at O Level. Two year ordinary Diploma holders in a business related discipline from a recognized institution (iv) CPA/CPS HND holders from recognized institutions may be admitted in 2 nd /3 rd year of study. CPA/CPS PART I YEAR 1 CPA/CPS PART II /TWO YEAR DINARY DIPLOMA(CREDIT/DISTINCTION) YEAR II CPA/CPS(K)/HND YEAR III 2. BSc. Human Resource Management i Minimum Mean Grade of C+ at KCSE and at least C in Mathematics and English/Kiswahili ii A Two Year Ordinary Diploma in Human Resource Management Business related field with distinction credit) Diploma in Human Resource Management from a recognized institution (may be admitted to 2 nd year of study. iii 2 Principal passes at A level and a subsidiary 3. Bachelor of Hotel and Hospitality Management Candidates must meet Minimum University entry requirement of University of Kabianga, candidates must meet the following additional requirements. 1. candidate must have passed KCSE or equivalent with a minimum grade C in Mathematics, English or Kiswahili 2. Must have successfully completed a relevant course recognized by the University of Kabianga Senate. Such candidates must have passed with at least a credit and have at least one year relevant working experience after obtaining a diploma. 10

11 Diploma holders with credit and above from recognized institutions will be admitted into the second year of study. Venue:Kericho Campus 4. Bachelor of Tourism Management i. Mean grade of C+ at KCSE and at least C in English/Kiswahili and Mathematics Business Studies Commerce. ii. Two principal passes and one subsidiary pass at A-Level plus at least a pass in Mathematics and English at O level iii. Two year ordinary Diploma in Tourism Management from a recognized institution May be admitted in 2 nd year of study. 5. B. A. Economics KCSE Mean grade of C+ and at least C (Plain) in English/Kiswahili and Mathematics Business Studies Commerce Two principals passes at A level two year ordinary diploma in an Economic related field. DIPLOMA PROGRAMMES 1. Diploma in Business Management Minimum grade of C- (minus) at KCSE level with at least C- in English/Kiswahili and D+ in mathematics or Accounting, Economics, Commerce and Business Studies. A bridging certificate with at least C- and D+ in English and mathematics, from University of Kabianga, KNEC or national polytechnics may be used to substitute English and mathematics respectively. A level qualifications with at least subsidiary pass. Any Business certificate awarded by University of Kabianga or KNEC. 2. Diploma in Human Resource Management Minimum grade of C- (minus) at KCSE level with at least C- in English/Kiswahili and D+ in mathematics or Accounting, Economics, Commerce and Business Studies. A bridging certificate with at least C- and D+ in English and mathematics, from University of Kabianga, KNEC or national polytechnics may be used to substitute English and mathematics respectively. 11

12 A level qualifications with at least subsidiary pass. Any Business certificate awarded by University of Kabianga or KNEC. 3. Diploma in Hotel and Restaurant Management Minimum grade of C-(minus) at KCSE level with at least D+ in English/Kiswahili. A level qualifications with at least subsidiary pass. Any other certificate awarded by University of Kabianga Senate or KNEC. 4. Diploma in Tourism management Minimum grade of C-(minus) at KCSE level with at least D+ in English/Kiswahili. A level qualifications with at least subsidiary pass. Any other certificate awarded by University of Kabianga Senate or KNEC. Fulltime/Evenings/Weekends Duration: 2 Academic years CERTIFICATE PROGRAMMES 1. Certificate in Business Administration Minimum grade D+ at KCSE level Any other certificate awarded by an institution recognized by University of Kabianga Senate Fulltime/Evenings/ Weekends Duration:2 Semesters F.SCHOOL OF INFMATION SCIENCES & KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMMES 1. Those with credit or distinction will join in second year. Full time/evenings/ weekends Duration 4 Academic years DIPLOMA PROGRAMMES 1. Diploma in Information Sciences KCSE mean grade of C- (minus), with at least a C in English and Mathematics; o KCE division III with at least a pass of 8 in English or Kiswahili and Mathematics A certificate in one of the information sciences disciplines (Archives and records Management, Library studies, publishing and media studies and information technology) with distinction or credit, obtained from an institution recognized by University of Kabianga Senate.
