SCHOOL OF PUBLIC HEALTH a) DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH MANAGEMENT & INFORMATICS i. PROFESSOR PhD Degree in Health Informatics/ Health Management/ Health Administration from a recognized university At least twelve (12) years of University teaching at Lecturer level, (5) of which as fulltime Associate Professor Successfully supervised at least four (4) Masters students and at least two (2) PhD students since being appointed Associate Professor At least four (4) articles in refereed journals, since being appointed as an Associate Professor Evidence of successfully applying for a grant either individually or as a group since being appointed as an Associate Professor Evidence of attendance and contribution at learning conferences, seminars and - Health Informatics - Health Management - Health Administration - Health Law & Ethics ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR PhD Degree in Health Informatics/ Health Management/ Health Administration from a recognized university At least eight (8) years of University teaching, four (4) of which as full-time Senior Lecturer Successfully supervised at least four (4) Masters students and one (1) PhD student, since being appointed Senior Lecturer At least four (4) articles in refereed journals since being appointed as a Senior Lecturer Page 1 of 6

SENIOR PhD Degree in Health Informatics/Health Management/Health Administration/ Computer Sciences from a recognized university At least five (5) years of University teaching, three (3) of which as full-time Lecturer At least three (3) articles in refereed Journals since being appointed Lecturer Successful supervision of at least three (3) Masters students Evidence of applying for a grant either individually or as a group since being appointed as Lecturer Evidence of attendance and contribution at learned conferences, seminars or - Health Informatics - Health Management - Health Administration - Computer Science PhD Degree from a recognized university or have successfully defended PhD thesis in Epidemiology/Biostatistics/Medical Statistics/Computer Science Evidence of university teaching experience as Tutorial Fellow or Assistant Lecturer Masters Degree in Epidemiology/Biostatistics/Medical Statistics with extensive teaching experience will also be considered - Epidemiology - Biostatistics - Medical Statistics - Computer Science Page 2 of 6

TUTORIAL FELLOW Masters Degree in Social Medical Sciences/Health Economics/Health Behaviour/Epidemiology/Computer Science from a recognized university Willing to pursue a PhD Degree PhD registration will be an added advantage - Social Medical Sciences - Health Economics - Health Behaviour - Epidemiology - Computer Science b) DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY HEALTH AREAS OF SPECIALIZATION: - Epidemiology and Disease Control - Health Management and Policy - Monitoring and Evaluation - Biostatistics and Biometrics - Maternal and Child Health - HIV/ AIDS and Tuberculosis - Community Nutrition - Community Medicine i. ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR PhD Degree in the relevant area of specialization from a recognized university At least eight (8) years of University teaching, four (4) of which as full-time Senior Lecturer Successfully supervised at least four (4) Masters students and one (1) PhD student, since being appointed Senior Lecturer At least four (4) articles in refereed journals since being appointed as a Senior Lecturer Evidence of successfully applying for a grant either individually or as a group since being appointed as a Senior Lecturer Evidence of attendance and contribution at learning conferences, seminars and SENIOR PhD Degree in the relevant area of specialization from a recognized university Page 3 of 6

PhD Degree in the relevant area of specialization from a recognized university or have successfully defended PhD thesis Evidence of university teaching experience as Tutorial Fellow or Assistant Lecturer Masters Degree in the relevant area of specialization with extensive teaching experience will also be considered TUTORIAL FELLOW Masters Degree in the relevant area of specialization from a recognized university Willing to pursue a PhD Degree PhD registration will be an added advantage 2. SCHOOL OF HUMANITIES AND SOCIAL SCIENCES KISWAHILI AND AFRICAN LANGUAGES DEPARTMENT CAMPUS: MAIN, KERICHO & NAKURU i. PhD Degree in any of the following areas in Swahili studies from a recognized university or have successfully defended PhD thesis: Language Linguistics Literature Full-time university teaching experience as a Tutorial Fellow/ Assistant Lecturer for at least three (3) years High command of the Kiswahili language Successful candidates will be required to teach, conduct research and supervise students both at undergraduate and post-graduate levels. TUTORIAL FELLOW M A Degree in any of the following areas in Swahili studies from a recognized university: Page 4 of 6

5 Linguistics Literature High command of the Kiswahili language Prepared to pursue PhD Degree in area of specialization PhD Degree will be an added advantage Successful candidates will be required to teach and conduct research 3. SCHOOL OF HUMANITIES AND SOCIAL SCIENCES DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC POLICY AND ADMINISTRATION i. PhD Degree in Electoral Management or Law from a recognized university or have successfully defended PhD thesis: Full-time university teaching experience as a Tutorial Fellow/ Assistant Lecturer for at least three (3) years i iv. PhD Degree in Organizational Leadership and Governance from a recognized university or have successfully defended PhD thesis Full-time university teaching experience as a Tutorial Fellow/ Assistant Lecturer for at least three (3) years PhD Degree in Political Science/Governance from a recognized university or have successfully defended PhD thesis: Full-time university teaching experience as a Tutorial Fellow/ Assistant Lecturer for at least three (3) years TUTORIAL FELLOW Masters Degree in Political Economy from a recognized university or have successfully defended PhD thesis Willing to register for PhD Degree 4. SCHOOL OF PURE AND APPLIED SCIENCES DEPARTMENT OF CHEMISTRY CAMPUS: MAIN, MOMBASA & KITUI i. TECHNICIAN GRADE C/D KCE Division II/ KCSE Mean Grade C+ (Plus) and above Higher National Diploma (HND) in Analytical Chemistry from a recognized institution At least three (3) years relevant work experience in a busy teaching/ research Laboratory Demonstrate ability to service and maintain a wide range of Laboratory equipment Page 5 of 6

6 i Computer literate TECHNICIAN GRADE A/B KCE Division III/ KCSE Mean Grade C (Plain) and above Ordinary National Diploma in the Analytical Chemistry from a recognized institution At least three (3) years relevant work experience in a busy teaching/ research Laboratory Demonstrate ability to service and maintain a wide range of Laboratory equipment Computer literate JUNIOR TECHNICIAN GRADE III/IV KCE Division IV/ KCSE Mean Grade D+ (Plus) and above Certificate in Science Laboratory Technician from a recognized institution At least three (3) years relevant work experience in a busy teaching/ research Laboratory Computer literate Successful applicants for all the above three (3) positions will be expected to help in practical work in the Chemistry Department TERMS OF SERVICE: For teaching positions above Tutorial Fellow employment will be on permanent and pensionable terms. The terms for non- teaching positions include a generous medical scheme, house allowance and commuting allowance. Successful candidates will be offered two (2) year renewable performance - based contract and gratuity will be paid at the end of the contract.
