Sprt Services Department Emergency Prcedures Training fr Sprt Partners The Talisman Centre emplyee designated and trained t take the lead in all Emergencies is the Fire Warden. Directrs, Managers, Duty Managers and selected staff can be recgnized as the Fire Warden. Weekdays there is a set rtatin that is fllwed s the rle is always filled. Evenings, weekends and Statuary hlidays fall t the Duty Manager. The exit referred t as the Suth Side is the drs by the drive rundabut. The Nrth Side Exit is lcated by Childcare and the Riverview Rm. Talisman Centre staff are certified annually in CPR C, A.E.D. and every 2 years fr Standard First Aid if there is a medical emergency let a staff member knw immediately. There are 3 defibrillatrs in the facility in case f a heart attack. Custmer Service Desk Fitness Centre Desk First Aid Rm All cmmunicatin during emergencies will be cmmunicated via: Overhead Page Radi Internal Phne Page Verbally by a Talisman Centre emplyee The facility is equipped with 3 different alarms Fire Alarm as per standard Bell Sund Chlrine Alarm high inaudible pitch and a flashing light abve the track Majr Aquatic Alarm similar t car alarms t ntify staff a majr medical as ccurred n the Aquatic Deck and assistance is required. There are 3 Aquatic alarms and each has its wn distinctive sund. This tells staff where and what pl the emergency is at. The Muster Pint is the Large Electrnic Sign n McLed Trail. EMS will always arrive at the Lading Dck. Lck Dwn is classified as an Immediate Direct Threat t the Facility.

Sprt Services Department Emergency Prcedures Training fr Sprt Partners FIRST AID EMERGENCIES All staff is available t assist yu r take ver during any First Aid Emergencies that may ccur. Please infrm ur staff even if yu will be prviding the First Aid, we will assist yu in many ther ways. Ntifying a staff member then allws fr a facility wide respnse if required. The Fire Warden will take cntrl f the secndary rle we will: Call 911 and meet EMS at the lading dck. Press the Aquatic Majr alarm t activate a facility wide respnse. Ensure an A.E.D., First Aid Kit and Oxygen Tank is present. Bring any additinal items t the scene (i.e. twels). Dcument the Incident n an Accident and/r Incident Reprts. Cllect r lcate the injured persn s belngings. Help cmmunicate with a guardian and/r parents. Allwing us t assist in emergencies and/r First Aid scenaris allws yu t cntinue a practice, cmmunicate effectively with the team members n the Incident that ccurred r prvide cmfrt and supprt t the injured persn. N cpies will be made f any Accident r Incident Reprts, unless specifically requested by EMS r an attending dctr. Staff may ask yu t fill ut a Witness reprt fr dcumentatin. The First Aid Rm and First Aid Kits shuld nly be accessed by Talisman Centre staff. A fllw up call is dne 24-48 hurs after all dcumented Accidents by the Health and Safety Crdinatr. If the injured persn is under the age f 18 a parent r guardians name is required n the Accident reprt frm nt a caches. Reprt any hazards r near misses t a staff member; this way we can dcument, track and crrect it prmptly. If a serius Incident has ccurred a debrief will be requested and scheduled t include all the peple invlved, department Managers and Directrs if needed. This allws us t discuss the respnse prcess, address any feelings peple may have, make imprvements t ur current prcedures if needed and supprt the First Aiders that may be dealing with secndary shck.

Sprt Services Department Emergency Prcedures Training fr Sprt Partners EVACUATIONS The facility has 2 types f evacuatins 1) Cnfirmed which refers t a Fire, Natural Disaster r any unfreseen circumstances and 2) Chlrine. The Muster Pint is the same fr bth the large electrnic sign n MacLed Trail. Cmmunicatins fr the type f evacuatin it is; will cme via Overhead Page and Talisman Centre staff. When the alarms are activated, cmmunicatin fr all activities t stp will be annunced. Pls will be evacuated. The alarm will be investigated by ur Operatins team; either a False Alarm statement r a Cnfirmed Evacuatin will be issued. If Operatins is nt nsite the facility will immediately evacuate withut investigatin. It is imprtant yu hear what type f evacuatin it is because the prcedures are different. During a Fire Evacuatin yu may leave by any Emergency Exit that is away frm the surce f the alarm. During a Natural Disaster Evacuatin, yu will be given infrmatin that is specific t the ccurrence. During a Chlrine Evacuatin everybdy must leave via the Nrth Side f the facility. The chlrine rm is lcated at the bttm f the lading dck s we want everyne t leave as quickly as pssible in the ppsite directin. Encurage everyne t fllw yu. D nt g t the lcker rms unless it is cmmunicated it is safe t d s. Facility staff will hand ut evacuatin supplies such as emergency blankets, bties, and First Aid needs. During inclement weather the City f Calgary via the Fire Department will deply buses t the parking lt fr heat. Secndary evacuatin sites are in place if needed. St. Mary s High Schl, Stampede Parking Lt, and Western Canada High schl. During a Chlrine Evacuatin ur secndary Muster Pint will be determined by which way the wind is blwing and cmmunicated t yu by a Talisman Centre Emplyee. Meet at the Muster Pint, if yu have led yur wn team ut than yu must find any Talisman Centre staff member at the Muster Pint with a radi and cmmunicate that yu are safely evacuated they will then relay this infrmatin t the Fire Warden. Encurage everyne t stay with yu, it is very narrw passage int and exiting the facility s keeping this clear will be essential fr Emergency Crews quick access. Until cmmunicatins cme frm the Fire Warden r Fire Department, refrain frm calling parents and guardians t quickly. We may have t mve sites and, parents and guardians will nt be able t gain entrance int r arund the facility during this time. We will take lead frm the Fire Department mving frward. Sprts Services will cntact yu with details pst incident. Prviding 2 cntact numbers t Sprt Services is advised.

Sprt Services Department Emergency Prcedures Training fr Sprt Partners POWER FAILURE During a pwer failure, day r night, light r dark, ALL activities must stp. In a pwer failure we d nt have a phne system available t us. The pumps in the pl d nt wrk and the valves must be manually turned ff by Operatins in the basement. Cmmunicatins will cme via Talisman Centre staff. Operatins will determine if it is an internal r external prblem. The time, visibility, and OH&S standards will determine hw the facility strategizes a plan. The Talisman Centre will always put the needs f Sprt Partners and Members first. If we can partially pen the facility we will d s but we must fllw all the OH&S and Health and Safety standards t make peratins safe fr yu. It is nt acceptable t cntinue with practice if yu were tld nt t, r take yur training t anther area instead. If limited activities r mdified areas are deemed safe, the Emergency Pl Strategy will be initiated and Dryland training areas will be cmmunicated. We will be in cntact with the City f Calgary, Enmax and ur C.E.O. wrking t get general timeframes as t the length f the pwer failure and hw we will perate during that time. MISSING CHILD If a Missing Child has been reprted in the facility the majrity f cmmunicatins will cme via the radi. 1 shrt Overhead Page stating an Amber Alert will be issued t cmmunicate t any Plice, EMS r Fire persnnel ur situatin but we dn t want t bradcast it ludly t escalate the situatin. Pls will be evacuated; the guards will dive under the bulkhead t ensure the child is nt trapped under water. This als gives the guards clear visibility t the bttm f the pl. Fitness Classes will cntinue but the music will be turned dwn. Yu will see management guarding exits, walking the perimeter utside the facility, parking lt, and mnitring Lindsay Park. We will ask parents leaving the facility t stay at the Nrth and Suth drs s it s faster and easier fr staff utside t identify the missing child. Staff will cmmunicate t yu a Missing Child s yu are aware f the situatin and understand why we are asking yu t mdify yur practices temprarily. Each department is respnsible fr specific areas in the facility. Any help prvided in these circumstances is invaluable, even if it s just guarding an exit r lking ut fr children that match the descriptin. Facility staff lks fr 15 minutes befre we call 911, then we wuld take lead frm the plice department. If the child is fund they will always be walked up t Custmer Service and activities can resume like nrmal.

During this time a quick annuncement will be dne via verhead page stating Lck dwn. Lck dwn immediately. Get t the safest lcatin pssible frm where yu are lcated. Barricade yurself in. Turn yur cell phne ringer t silent. D nt use yur cellphne t cmmunicate with anyne utside the building (scial media, parents, etc.). D nt cme ut if the Fire Alarm is pulled. If yu have the capacity t email frm yur phne silently, yu can send an email t lckdwn@talismancentre.cm. State yur lcatin, hw many peple are with yu, and if yu have any critical injuries. D nt pen the dr fr anyne. An fficer and a Talisman emplyee will pen the dr fr yu when all is deemed safe.
