Dear Delegate, We are delighted to provide you with an exciting CPD opportunity in 2015. This interactive workshop will take place over two days in Oxford, and will provide an opportunity to review the evidence-based for using instrumentation in the diagnosis and treatment of speech disorders, including electropalatography and nasometry. This workshop will feature opportunities for hands-on learning as well as interpretation of assessment results from a variety of experienced guest presenters. Patient selection and practical therapy strategies will also be included. If you are a speech and language therapist, a speech and language therapy assistant or a speech and language therapy student, this workshop will provide an invaluable learning opportunity. This brochure contains information regarding the workshop program, accommodation, catering, transport, parking and registration. Guest Speakers We have a wonderful line up of experienced and dynamic guest speakers including: Dr Ginette Phippen Ginette is the lead speech and language therapist for the Spires Cleft Centre, Salisbury and Oxford. She has over 10 years experience of using instrumental diagnostic and therapy approaches in speech disorders and completed a clinical doctorate in 2012 investigating the use of nasometry in visual feedback therapy. She recently co-wrote and edited a textbook on speech therapy for children with cleft palate and velopharyngeal dysfunction. Ginette has specialist clinical skills in nasendoscopy and electropalatography. Zoe Jordan Zoe Jordan is the Lead Speech and Language Therapist for the South Thames Cleft Service. She graduated from De Montfort University in 2002 with a BSc in Human Communication Sciences and has specialised in Cleft Lip and Palate and Velopharyngeal Dysfunction since 2003. She received her MSc in Speech and Cleft from the University of Sheffield in 2008, undertaking perceptual and electropalatographic research into compensatory speech patterns employed during ventriloquist speech. She was a member of the committee for the National SLT Clinical Excellence Network, (CEN), for Cleft and Craniofacial Anomalies for four years, taking on various roles including Chair of the CEN between 2012 and 2014. Lucy McAndrew Lucy McAndrew is a highly-specialist speech and language therapist from the Spires Cleft Centre in Oxford. Lucy has many years of experience working with children and adults with speech disorders. She has a special interest in EPG and has recently authored a book chapter on the subject. 4

Workshop Venue The workshop will be held in the John Radcliffe Hospital. Please note that the workshop will be held in a different venue each day. Please refer to the map below to help orient you to the hospital site. There are volunteers dotted around the hospital that can assist you in getting to the workshop venue if required. Transport The John Radcliffe is easily-accessible via public transport options. Please note that carparking is very limited and there is no on-street parking nearby. The JR Carparking office suggest that if you have no alternative, that you allow one hour to find a carparking space. We strongly advise you to make every possible effort to travel by other means including accessing the Park & Ride facilities. Directions Address: Headley Way, Headington, OX3 9DU Please use postcode OX3 9DU, when using online route-finders for directions to the John Radcliffe, to take you to the correct entrance. Allow approximately 15-20 minutes from the station forecourt and approximately 25-30 minutes by bus (number 13 and 14 see below) direct to the hospital. Coach The Oxford Express (X90) and the Oxford Tube operate frequently 24 hours a day to and from central London, stopping at Headington Shops which is a ten minute walk from the Hospital. Cost is approximately 15 return. By Air Oxford is well placed for airports in London and Birmingham, London Heathrow is approximately 70 minutes by bus Airline Express X70. There is also an Airline Express X80 to London Gatwick. These services stop at Headington Shops. Direct buses (bus stops on-site) from Oxford Railway Station 13 Railway Station / City Centre / Marston / Northway / JR X13 Railway Station / Cherwell Drive / JR 14 & 14A Railway Station / City Centre / Banbury Road / Marston Ferry Road / JR (14A operates via Old Marston) Park & Ride If driving to Oxford, it is recommended that you use the Park & Ride services.
