My BMW Remote - ios About this Owner's Handbook This owner's handbook describes all My BMW Remote app functions for all standard, national and optional equipment options that are offered. Therefore, it also describes functions that may not be available on some vehicles on the basis of the model, the equipment level, the production version or the national variant. The same applies to safety-related functions and systems. More details on the available remote functions for the various models can be found in the Apple App Store on itunes. Symbols used "..." indicates texts on the Apple device that have to be selected. Overview Principle The My BMW Remote app allows you to establish a connection to the vehicle via the mobile phone network. For example, you can use an Apple device to lock and unlock the car or to look up points of interest (POIs) and transmit data to the vehicle. Functions Depending on the vehicle, the following functions are available: > Lock/unlock vehicle. > Remote control of the independent ventilation/heating system. > Remote control of the horn. > Remote control of the headlight flasher. > Search for nearby places on the Apple device and send the details to the car. > Show the present location of the car. System requirements > Professional or Business navigation system. > Mobile phone preparation with Bluetooth interface. > Suitable Apple device, i.e. Apple iphone, Apple ipod touch or Apple ipad running ios 4.0 or later in each case. > Active BMW ConnectedDrive contract. > Internet connection on Apple device. Note When the time comes to sell the vehicle, be sure to notify BMW customer support accordingly. The same applies if the vehicle is stolen or is used by unauthorised persons, and when the vehicle is taken permanently off the road. See your BMW ConnectedDrive contract for more information. > User name Defined when the BMW ConnectedDrive contract was activated. > Password Sent to you as a text message following activation of the BMW ConnectedDrive contract. If you no longer know your user name and/or password, please contact the BMW ConnectedDrive help desk or request new access credentials from: www.bmw-assist-login.com. Configuration via BMW ConnectedDrive customer portal Configuration in the BMW ConnectedDrive customer portal is a three-step procedure: 1. Activate remote functions. 2. Record answers to security questions. 3. Activate security questions. The remote functions are not available until after you have successfully completed all three steps. If you have any questions about configuration on the BMW ConnectedDrive customer portal, please contact the help desk. Activating remote functions To be able to use the My BMW Remote app, you must activate the remote functions via the BMW ConnectedDrive customer portal: www.bmw-assist-login.com. You can select multiple vehicles provided they are registered on the BMW ConnectedDrive customer portal. Recording answers to security questions The security questions ensure that no unauthorised persons can use the remote functions for the car. You have to record answers to four security questions on the BMW ConnectedDrive customer portal: www.bmw-assist-login.com. Select four questions from the catalogue of questions and save the answers. When you subsequently use the remote functions via the My BMW Remote app or the BMW ConnectedDrive call centre, you will be prompted for the answers to two of these security questions. After your answers to the security questions have been recorded, an activation code is sent by text message to the mobile phone number specified in the BMW ConnectedDrive contract. Activating security questions In the BMW ConnectedDrive customer portal, enter the activation code you received in the text message. Installing the My BMW Remote app In the App Store, use the search function in itunes or go to the Travel category to select the My BMW Remote app and download it. Configuration procedure on Apple device The first time you open the app, the configuration sequence is started. The configuration process can only be completed if there is a connection to the internet. Accepting terms of service To be able to use Google Local Search, you have to accept the terms of service. "Accept" You can also open the terms of service afterwards from the Settings menu, see page 8. Logging on The same access credentials are used for configuring the My BMW Remote app as for the BMW ConnectedDrive customer portal. 3

"Log in" Display elements and controls Overview Answering security questions Two of the security questions you selected are displayed and must be answered correctly to verify the user's ID. Defining your PIN Define a 4-digit PIN. You have to re-enter it every time you open My BMW Remote. 1. Enter a 4-digit PIN. 2. Enter PIN a second time to confirm. The PIN request can be deactivated on the Settings menu, see page 8. Selecting vehicle The vehicle selection list shows all vehicles registered in the BMW ConnectedDrive contract. Select a vehicle: Press the text box containing the vehicle required. Vehicle selection can be deactivated on the Settings menu, see page 8. If there is only one vehicle listed it is selected automatically. Mobile phone network is available in the vehicle and on the Apple device. If there is no response from the vehicle after a few minutes, an error message is displayed. Manually saving the position So that you can easily find your way back to your car, for example you can save its current position before leaving it. 1. "Vehicle position" The current position is saved. Centring a manually saved position Select the symbol in the top right corner. The manually saved position is shown in the centre of the map. > Green dot: search started > Blue dot: current location of the Apple device > symbol: saved position Showing locations The location of the car is shown on the map and the route from the location of the Apple device to the car is indicated. This function is possible within a radius of 1.5 km. The GPS service must be activated on the Apple device; for details please refer to the instruction manual for the device. 1. "Vehicle position" 2. Select the symbol in the top right corner. As soon as a position is saved, a route from the current location of the Apple device to the saved position is automatically computed. Mobile phone network is available in the vehicle and on the Apple device. Switching on independent ventilation/ heating 2. "Precondition" 3. "Precondition now" The air conditioning is started following successful data transfer. Selecting switch-on time You can save a switch-on time in the Apple device. 1. "Precondition" 3. Select the desired time by sliding the adjusters up or down. The switch-on time must be at least 5 minutes in the future. 4. "Save" 5. Slide the button to "ON" to activate the switch-on time. The independent ventilation/heating switches on only within the next 24 hours. Afterward, it must be reactivated. Viewing the setting in the vehicle The switch-on time can be viewed in the vehicle as soon as the data has been sent to the vehicle; for details please refer to the Owner's Handbook for the vehicle in the section Independent ventilation/heating system, Pre-selecting switch-on times. Deactivating switch-on time Slide the button to "OFF". If the set time has already passed and the independent ventilation/heating system is already operating, it can no longer be deactivated via the Apple device. Google Local Search With Google Local Search you can find nearby places or view routes to saved places and send them to the vehicle. Notes The function can only be performed if there is a connection to the internet. The GPS service must be activated on the Apple device; for details please refer to the instruction manual for the device. System requirements If you want to send data to the vehicle from Google Maps, for example, you must make the following settings in the BMW Connected- Drive customer portal: > Allow transmission via selected partners. > Select the vehicle to which the information is to be sent. Selecting view The places can be displayed on a map or as a list. In list view: 1. Select the destination. 2. "Send to vehicle" Viewing the route In map view: 1. Select the destination point. Address is displayed. 2. Select the arrow. 3. "Directions" In list view: 1. Select the destination. 2. "Directions" Locking/Unlocking Viewing more details In map view: 1. All doors and the boot/tailgate are locked. > To unlock: Slide arrow to the right. Only the driver's door is unlocked. To unlock all doors and the tailgate: after unlocking the driver's door, again slide the arrow to the right. Locking the vehicle with My BMW Remote does not activate the alarm system.< Sounding the horn 7

"Settings" Item "History" "Vehicles" Setting Displays the status of the most recently used functions. For changing selected vehicle. If the vehicle is not yet listed, it may need to be activated on the BMW ConnectedDrive customer portal and the app then reconfigured, see page 2. "Change user" For deleting user data and reconfiguring. "PIN request" For deactivating PIN request. "Change PIN" Enter the new PIN. "Google Terms of Service" "Version" Shows the Google Terms of Service for Local Search. Shows the app version. History Displays the status of the most recently used functions. 1. "Settings" 2. "Show history" The status is indicated by the colour-coding. > Grey: function initiated. Waiting for a response from the vehicle. > Green: function successfully completed. > Red: function cancelled. If there is no response from the vehicle after approx. 2 minutes, the function is marked red in the History list and an error message is displayed, see page 8. Resetting your PIN If you do not know the PIN for starting the app, there is the option of resetting the My BMW Remote app. This deletes all the data and the app configuration process has to be completed again, see page 2. Resetting the app 1. Select the symbol on the start screen. 2. "Reset application" Error messages If you get an error message, check the following points. If the desired function can still not be carried out, please contact the BMW ConnectedDrive help desk. 8

When showing the position > GPS service is activated on the Apple device. > Ignition is switched off. > Mobile phone network is available in the vehicle. The vehicle must not be more than 1.5 km away. If Apple device is lost The process of configuration automatically generates an electronic key, the security token. That keeps communication between the Apple device and the car secure. The security token can be deleted in the BMW ConnectedDrive customer portal. Once the security token has been deleted the functions of the My BMW Remote app can no longer be used. The app has to be reconfigured, see page 2. 9
