2015 GUEST SPEAKERS Margaret A. Fitzgerald, DNP, FNP-BC, NP-C, FAANP, CSP, FAAN, DCC Dr. Fitzgerald is the founder, president and principal lecturer with Fitzgerald Health Education Associates, Inc. (FHEA), an international provider of nurse practitioner certification preparation and continuing education for healthcare providers. An internationally recognized presenter, Dr. Fitzgerald has provided thousands of programs for numerous professional organizations, universities, national and state healthcare associations on a wide variety of topics including clinical pharmacology, clinical assessment, laboratory diagnosis, healthcare and nurse practitioner practice. For more than 25 years she has provided graduate level pharmacology courses for NP students at a number of universities. In addition, she practices as a family nurse practitioner at the Greater Lawrence Family Health Center, Lawrence, MA. Dr. Fitzgerald holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, Ohio, where she received the Alumni Association Award for Clinical Excellence. Dr. Fitzgerald is the recipient of the National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties Lifetime Achievement Award, given in recognition of vision and accomplishments in successfully developing and promoting the nurse practitioner role, the American College of Nurse Practitioner s Sharp Cutting Edge Award and the Outstanding Nurse Award for Clinical Practice by the Merrimack Valley Area Health Education Council. In addition, Dr. Fitzgerald received the Loretta C. Ford Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Nurse Practitioner Symposium for demonstrating longevity, integrity, professional achievement, and advocacy in advanced practice nursing. She is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing and a charter fellow in the Fellows of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. 2015 GUEST SPEAKERS Margaret A. Fitzgerald continued practitioner to earn the Certified Speaking Professional (CSP) designation in recognition of excellence and integrity as a speaker. She is also certified by the American Board of Comprehensive Care as a Diplomate of Comprehensive Care (DCC), a designation available to DNP graduates who are licensed advanced practice registered nurses (APRN) and nationally certified in an APRN specialty. Dr. Fitzgerald is an editorial board member of The Nurse Practitioner Journal, American Nurse Today, and Prescriber s Letter. She is widely published with more than 200 articles, book chapters, monographs, and audio and video programs to her credit. Her book, Nurse Practitioner Certification Examination and Practice Preparation (now in the 4th edition) received the American Journal of Nursing Book of the Year Award for Advanced Practice Nursing and has been published in English and Korean. She has provided consultation to nursing organizations in the United States, Canada, the Dominican Republic, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, and the United Kingdom. Dr. Fitzgerald is an active member of numerous professional organizations at national and local levels.
2015 GUEST SPEAKERS Wendy L. Wright, MS, RN, APRN, FNP, FAANP, FAAN Wendy is a 1992 graduate of the Adult Primary Care Nurse Practitioner program at Simmons College in Boston, Massachusetts and completed a family nurse practitioner post-master s program in 1995. She is an adult and family nurse practitioner and the owner of two, nurse practitioner owned and operated clinics within New Hampshire named: Wright & Associates Family Healthcare at Amherst and at Concord. In addition, she is the owner of Partners in Healthcare Education, a medical education company. She is the past president of NPACE and the senior lecturer for Fitzgerald Health Education Associates. She is the recipient of numerous awards and was chosen by the American Association of Nurse Practitioners as the 1999 recipient of the New Hampshire State Excellence Award. In addition, she received the 2009 NH Nurse Practitioner of the Year, the 2014 Top 5 Women in New Hampshire Business Award and in 2005, she was inducted as a fellow into the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners; a position held by only 450 other nurse practitioners throughout the country. In October 2014, Wendy was also inducted as a fellow in the American Academy of Nursing. She is the founder of the NH Chamber of Entrepreneurial Nurse Practitioners, an organization designed to assist nurse practitioners with independent practice issues. In addition, she is an editor for Practice Management a new e-journal created for NP s interested in independent practice and practice management. Wendy served as the chair for the 2014 AANP Conference in Nashville, TN. She presents nationally to different audiences and has been a speaker at over 1000 conferences in 46 states. Wendy is also an adjunct faculty member at the University of Wyoming - Graduate Nursing Program and in the Simmons College DNP program in Boston. 2015 GUEST SPEAKERS Wendy L. Wright continued to the State of NH Immunization Advisory Board. Wendy has served a consultant to a number of pharmaceutical companies, medical offices and corporations. She has been a medical media spokesperson for a number of companies and has appeared on radio, television, and in print magazines. As a family nurse practitioner, she has also served as an expert witness in medical malpractice cases and is frequently consulted by malpractice attorneys around the area of clinical practice. Stacey Pfenning, DNP, APRN, FNP As a Family Nurse Practitioner and ND BON Executive Director, Dr. Stacey Pfenning participates on the ND Prescription Drug Monitoring (PDM) Program Advisory Council and Reducing Pharmaceutical Narcotics in our Community Coalition, both focusing on controlled substance legislative and educational initiatives across the state. During the 2015 ND legislative assembly, Dr. Pfenning participated in development and promotion of legislation pertaining to APRN registration and utilization of the PDM Program, as well as other controlled substance bills. Dr. Pfenning s practice includes 13 years in emergency and trauma settings, as well as clinic settings, where she engaged in bedside utilization of the PDM Program. In academia, Dr. Pfenning is an associate professor for the Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions Doctorate of Nursing Practice/Family Nurse Practitioner Program, teaching several courses including Advanced Pharmacology and Health Policy.
2015 GUEST SPEAKERS Sattaria (Tari) Dilks, DNP, MSN, MA, BSN Dr. Tari Dilks has been employed in the mental health field since 1975 in various capacities. She is a licensed professional counselor as well as a family psychiatric nurse practitioner. She is the director of the psychiatric advanced practice nursing track for the Intercollegiate Consortium for Master of Science in Nursing, a coalition of four universities in the state of Louisiana, including McNeese State University where she serves as professor and co-coordinator in the graduate department of the College of Nursing. She is additionally certified as a family nurse practitioner. She has presented on a variety of topics in psychiatric advanced practice nursing at state, national and international conferences. Dr. Ryan Holzwarth, MD Dr. Holzwarth is a physician at Sanford Health Jamestown Clinic where he specializes in medical dermatology and minor surgical dermatology. He attended medical school at the University of North Dakota School of Medicine & Health Sciences and completed his dermatology residency at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI. He is certified by the American Board of Dermatology.
2015 GUEST SPEAKERS Shannon S. Bradley, MD, FACOG Dr. Bradley joined the Mid Dakota Clinic Center for Women in February 2001, as a specialist in obstetrics and gynecology. She earned her undergraduate degree at the University of Minnesota in the Twin Cities, graduating cum laude, and her medical degree from the University of North Dakota School of Medicine in Grand Forks, ND. Dr. Bradley completed her residency program in OB/GYN at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, where she received the Mayo Clinic Randall Travel Award for leadership, scholarship and professionalism. Dr. Bradley is Clinical Assistant Professor of OB/GYN at the UND School of Medicine and Health Sciences, and Fellow in the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. In addition to diagnosis and treatment of all gynecologic conditions, Dr. Bradley s professional interests include cosmetic gynecology, MonaLisa Touch therapy, injections to enhance sexual function, pelvic relaxation surgery (including vaginal repair/rejuvenation), and treatment of unwanted urine loss and bladder issues. Her practice philosophy is to offer women a variety of pelvic health solutions that allow them to live life more fully and confidently.
