Participants in the programme, known as Fellows, serve as full-time teachers for two years in high-need schools across Malaysia, and commit to transforming the education outcomes of less-privileged school children through significantly improving their achievements and aspirations. In the long term, Teach For Malaysia Alumni will form a different class of leaders, working in various sectors to expand education opportunity for all children in Malaysia. We are looking for interns to join us in this movement of change. Beyond qualifications, we need someone who shares our vision and mission and is aligned with our Core Values: Sense of Possibility, Excellence, Collaboration and Integrity. There are a number of Functions in which interns can be apart of in order to achieve the mission of Teach For Malaysia such as Talent Acquisition, Communications, Partnership Development and also Strategy & Operations. Interns are able to explore their potential to be more competent and hollistic leaders by contributing to these Functions. Interns can contribute up to 20% of their time learning from other functions to have a more comprehensive understanding towards the mission and the work that the organisation is doing. Interns are encouraged to bring their own passions, interests and experiences to share with Fellows so they can also get involved in professional development sessions, supporting second year Fellows' initiatives or teaching us all a skill they have! Role requirements: Human Resources - Strategy & Operations Team Organising talent development initiatives such as Fab Fridays Refining our on-boarding process for new starters Working closely with our Strategy & Operations department on special short term projects, such as: Refining the TFM policy handbook and Administration and HR related projects to help with process improvements Assist in the management of the talent pipeline and the process of employee recruitment Pre-requisites: Exceptional organisational skills, attention to detail, exceptional written communication skills and demonstrated ability to work well with others Role requirements: Events & Logistics - Strategy & Operations Team Working closely with our Events and Logistics Manager to ensure logistics and plans are in place to execute the vision for various events completing tasks such as - Assisting with the planning of activities of the conference from a contextual perspective - i.e. researching, designing and help layout the activities. Interns also will develop skills on thinking logistically how the above sessions can be carried out which includes Managing RSVP's, scheduling invite list (e.g. guest speakers, sessions & participants) Liaising with vendors (e.g. P.A. system, food & beverages & photographers) Coordinating volunteers Managing pre conference materials Pre-requisites: Attention to detail, process driven & willingness to complete any tasks needed for events to be successful
Role requirements: Finance - Strategy & Operations Team Support and assist Finance Associate/Manager in the department: To prepare monthly cashbook and tagging each expenses by end of month Update the monthly expenses into the UBS Accounting System Ensure all financial documents & files are properly kept. Ensure all Purchase Requisition form (PR) are signed off by respective staff and payment vouchers are in sequence To prepare financial analysis that Finance team deems to be appropriate and suitable at intern s level or much higher level. Assist in maintaining non-sensitive Finance Trackers Ad-Hoc support in daily finance & admin tasks. Pre-requisites: Very strong attention to detail, excellent written communication (English and BM). Prior knowledge to finance policy and procedures. Technology - Strategy & Operations Team Role requirements: Support and assist Technology Manager in the department: Provide IT support/admin eg. email creations, asset organization and tagging, preparing of laptops for new joiners Assist in researching IT solutions (teleconferencing, laptop spec through web search, checking with vendors etc.) Liaise and coordinate with IT Outsourcing Vendor and Internal Staff in regards to laptop maintenance, network maintenance etc. Assist in configuration and troubleshooting of Salesforce/Form Assembly Pre-requisites: Background in Bachelor of Computer Science/Information Technology Organised, resourceful and analytical - Able to source for information and communicate it effectively Good communication and writing skills
Research, Design & Impact - Programme Team Role requirements: Work on an Impact Study (i.e. a research project that monitors progress being made by 9 Teach For Malaysia Fellows in the North) Assisting with research on Teach For Malaysia's collaboration with various stakeholders, Education Blueprint and other education policies Deep-level analysis of data (e.g. looking at how the English writing results cross-correlate with English reading comprehension at student level to build guideposts, and perhaps pull out causative effects, school profiling). Data entry would also be required, if necessary Assist in event coordination (eg. for Connect_Ed, a large education conference). Pre-requisites: Prior video editing experience or willingness to learn, ability to work independently, high-level proficiency in both BM and English Alumni Impact - Programme Team Role requirements: Being a thought partner and sounding board with the Alumni Impact Function to help create structures for the inaugural TFM Alumni community, including career pathways, life-long development strategies and community support systems Content and formatting for the Alumni Portal resources including putting together Alumni newsletters and moderating content on the Portal Organizing career events for Year 2 Fellows and assisting with formulating a career development framework Overseeing second-year Fellow initiatives Pre-requisites: Writing experience, event management experience, attention to detail, ability to thought partner, relationship building skills
Role requirements: Leadership Development - Programme Team (KL & Penang) Interns would support the North (Penang) or Central (KL) Leadership Development (LD) teams including shadowing and supporting individual Leadership Development Officers (LDO), supporting the new administrative assistant and the Senior LDO or the Associate Director for LD. Attend school visits with LDOs and help with logistical support Ideally the intern would also support at networking activities Manage the LD calendar, updates and announcements, contribute in Central/Northern team meetings Thought partner for problems and challenges that arise for Central/Northern Fellows, LDOs and the team as a whole and to challenge and improve processes currently used within function, especially in LD team. Pre-requisites: Great interpersonal skills, relationship building Role requirements: Regions - Programme Team (KL) Interns would work with the Manager of Regions to support the Teach For Malaysia Regions (TFM Central, TFM East and TFM North) in Regional communication, partnership development, team processes and operational tasks, while being based in the Central office. Tasks would cover a wide scope including but not limited to: Shadowing the Manager of Regions to problem-solve challenges within the Regions and improve processes currently used within the function Logistical support for the Regional Assistant Managers based in all 3 Regions Support in relationship-management activities which include TFM s partnership with both governmental and private stakeholders within the Regions Analyse Regional data to track Regional performance in student impact, Fellow development and partnerships Pre-requisites: Organisational skills, relationship-building ability, process-driven and love for learning and operating within multiple contexts and situations
Talent Acquisition Role requirements: Working closely with an assigned manager/mentor from Talent Acquisition team, to support with cultivating and matriculating potential fellows - Executing given tasks such as event planning, making cultivation phone calls, supporting presentations in recruitment events, and participating in recruitment initiatives Leading projects or initiatives under the guidance of manager/mentor. Projects may include market research, building Campus Leader portal, refining recruitment messaging, creating new recruitment materials etc Pre-requisites: Strong communication & relationship building skills Role requirements: Branding & Communications Working to get the word out about Teach For Malaysia, our awesome Fellows and the Fellowship program. A Communications Intern would gain experience working on a variety of tasks, targeted at multiple stakeholders: Writing which includes; posters, brochures, blog posts, story boards, scripts, bylines Design work which includes; banners, posters/brochures, merchandise, infographics, reports Digital work which includes; the Teach For Malaysia website and social media platforms Production: Helping to plan and coordinate projects such as events and video/ photo-documentary production Opportunities to work on special projects such as TFM connect_ed, TFM Week and TFM: Flipped, and learn from an existing Creative Team (photo & video) Pre-requisites: Attention to detail, organisation skills, a great attitude about both small and large tasks
Partnership Development (Government) Role requirements: Preparing and executing official communications (i.e. mainly formal letters and fax communication) with government stakeholders for meetings, events and special requests Preparing for meetings or discussions with government stakeholders.
