Director of Development Chester County Food Bank The Chester County Food Bank is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose mission is to provide food for those in need in Chester County, while focusing on hunger s role in health, education and poverty. The organization distributes 1.8 million pounds of food annually, manages an expansive growing program, and has initiated a comprehensive nutrition education program in concert with local schools. The Food Bank is now in the planning stage for a major capital campaign to secure the facilities needed to accommodate major program growth and development. The Director of Development is sought to plan, implement and manage a comprehensive development program including major gifts, donor relations, prospect development, annual giving, grant writing, and events. This professional will be an integral member of the campaign team and will work directly with Board members, donors, prospects, consultants, and others for the successful achievement of both annual and campaign goals. Successful candidate will have demonstrated fundraising achievements, with emphasis on major gifts and donor relations. Bachelor s Degree required. 2 - Lead multidisciplinary teams of high level professionals to develop and produce sophisticated grants; - Assist in the collection, analysis and interpretation of data used for tracking the submission of grant proposals; - Provide technical assistance, research and guidance to Corporate and Center development staff in identifying potential opportunities for grant preparation and funding sources to support program initiatives; - Create, monitor and refine systems to track submission of grant proposals, maintain donor/prospect information; - Manage collection and reporting systems for grants received; prepare timelines and status reports for distribution; - Oversee integration of research information into the donor/prospect database, assist in creation and updating of profiles and serve as a resource; and - Interact with senior level internal and external professionals. The Selected Candidate will possess: - Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Development or other related field required. - Technical training in Grant Writing, Charitable Giving, and/or Public relations required. - Minimum 7 years of experience in writing grants, conducting research, establishing and monitoring systems to track grant proposals, and managing associated databases. - Experience working in a not-for-profit, behavioral healthcare or healthcare environment preferred. - Demonstrated ability to provide consultative services to Corporate and Center Management and Development staff. - Outstanding written and development skills, strong communication and organizational skills. Under the limited direction of the Director of Development for the Alfred Lerner College of Business and Economics, the Associate Director of Development is responsible for major gift fundraising for the Lerner College, including identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of major gift donors for the College. The major emphasis of the position is the solicitation of gifts of $50,000 or more from individuals. The Associate Director will maintain an active travel schedule of 15 face-to-face meetings per month; some of the visits will be done jointly with the Dean, colleagues and other development staff. The Associate Director will coordinate stewardship reports and activities for assigned prospects with appropriate members of the administration and faculty of the College. The Associate Director reports to the Director of Development for the Lerner College and is accountable to the Dean of Lerner College for the accomplishment of fundraising goals for the College. QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree and four years progressively responsible fund raising job-related experience. Experience in college/university major gift fundraising highly desirable. Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with prospects and donors, to work effectively in a team setting, and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; strong interpersonal skills. Must be able to perform tasks on own initiative, many of which have no prior precedent. Skill in use of personal computers and related software applications. Ability to participate in cooperative work environment within the Development team and across the University. Ability to develop and implement short-and-long-term goals and plans. Ability to develop and maintain recordkeeping systems and procedures. Ability to communicate and work effectively within a diverse community. Ability to persuade and influence others.
