The Senior Clinical will be responsible for the provision of a broad range of high quality clinical pharmacy services within the Coordinated Care stream of at Ipswich Hospital. These include orthopaedic, general and specialist surgical inpatients, maternity and paediatric inpatients and associated services within a multidisciplinary framework across the HHS. The position functions with a degree of independence providing clinical intervention and advice, workflow organisation and service developments. The key accountabilities of the role are: Demonstrate and deliver high level knowledge in general clinical pharmacy services by applying professional judgement to problems of significant scope and complexity. Actively participate in physician-led multi-disciplinary team ward rounds guiding decision making with contemporary, high-level evidence-based practice. Provide professional leadership in the development of staff and clinical practices, procedures and protocols that support the continuum of care engaging cross-discipline referencing where relevant within the stream. Deliver a high level clinical pharmacy service, which may include dispensing, medication reconciliation, drug information, counselling and recommendation, in accordance with prescribed professional and ethical standards in an outpatient setting. Actively participate in the department rosters and on-call arrangements (where appropriate). Proactively lead and participate in quality and service improvement activities to continually improve patient care. Actively participate in the Health Service Performance Planning and Appraisal and Individual Development Planning processes. Develop clinical practice knowledge and expertise through active learning within the team and by maintaining continuing professional development activities. Provide high level clinical advice to relevant service managers and stakeholders regarding professional standards and clinical service development. Provide clear direction, supervision and support to team members and support staff. Independently and effectively manage time and resource allocation to ensure a high level of service delivery to the stream. Monitor and develop the quality of service delivery in line with Key Performance Indicators. Apply advanced level leadership skills within multiple speciality services, apply professional standards to the quality of work unit activities and lead implementation of service improvement activities engaging all relevant stakeholders.
Staffing and budget responsibilities Provide clinical education, clinical practice and operational supervision to other health professionals, clinical pharmacists, work experience students, or those involved in clinical placements. Provide direction and support to s if required. There is no budget responsibility with this role. Attributes required for effective performance in this role Mandatory Qualifications / Professional Registration: Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration or membership with the appropriate registration authority or association in Australia. Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager, prior to the commencement of clinical duties. tertiary degree that is recognised by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency, as conferring eligibility for registration and; Registration as a pharmacist within the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.
