2 How do I enrol? Community Education Courses 2015-2016 Classes commence at various dates throughout September Contact your Centre for details. All learners must provide proof of ID and National Insurance Number. If claiming a concession proof of benefit must be provided. No early enrolments will be permitted. All enrolments are on a first come first served basis. Enrolments cannot be made for learners who are unable to attend the enrolment session. Enrolment times are listed at the back of this brochure by Centre details. If you miss enrolment times, don t worry. It will be possible to enrol at the first session of the class of your choice, unless the class is full. Some classes will not be able to run unless there are 10 learners enrolled by week 3 of the course. If you are unsure if a class is for you, then a tutor will be available to offer advice and guidance at enrolment sessions or on the first session of the class.

Family Learning Family Learning allows parents to improve their own literacy and/or numeracy skills alongside their child/ children in their home, local school or community venue. Experience a fun learning activity as a family Find out more about what your child is learning in school Have the opportunity to improve your own skills and widen your own learning Parents/carers can take part in a 6 week programme in the home or 12 week school or community group. Sessions are held during the day and after school Talk to a member of the team to find out which would be the best option. All classes are FREE! 5 ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) If English is not your main language, you can do a 15 week course to help improve your English. What does an ESOL course cover? Speaking and listening Reading and writing Vocabulary Punctuation and grammar Classes are held in Risca and Caerphilly. There is an accreditation fee and you may have to pay for these classes. Essential Skills classes in the Workplace FREE Literacy and Numeracy courses can be held in local companies for employees to improve their skills and gain a qualification. Language and Play Fun, interactive sessions for parents and children (0-4 years) in the home, nurseries, libraries, community centres and schools. The aim of the qualification is to provide candidates with an introduction to book-keeping practices and to process source documents that underpin accurate record keeping. 7 Classroom Assistant Agored Level 2 Supporting Teaching & Learning in Schools Level 3 This qualification is aimed at people who would like an introduction into becoming a teaching assistant in a school and could lead onto the Level 2 Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools. 10 Independent Living Skills We have a wide range of classes available in our Independent Living Skills (ILS) programme for adults with learning disabilities/difficulties. The courses are carefully structured to build confidence and encourage personal and social development. Qualified staff provide a high level of support. Most classes are for 2 hours. Enrol for a 36 weeks in total. Gain a nationally recognised qualification. Meet new people and friends. ILS Classes start week commencing 7 September 2015 Class subjects, times, fees and locations are correct at time of going to print.
