HABITAT FOR HUMANITY Volume 4, Issue 5 May 2016 By Gene Carline The purpose of the FGSCC, a valued supporter of Habitat for Humanity of North Augusta, is to promote friendship; to develop and foster a spirit of goodwill and community responsibility; to provide monetary support for activities primarily within the military and local community; and to provide opportunities for social, cultural, and creative pursuit. Fort Gordon Spouses & Civilians Club is open to anyone affiliated with Fort Gordon. This includes active duty military and retirees as well as DOD civilians, contractors and their adult family members. The Fort Gordon Spouses and Civilians Club gives back to the CSRA community in many ways. Through proceeds from the Fort Gordon Thrift Shop and other fundraising opportunities, the FGSCC is able to hand out grants and scholarships to deserving groups and individuals in the spring of each club year. volunteer countless hours each month to help give back to the community. For the second year in a row, FGSCC has selected Habitat for Humanity of North Augusta as a recipient of such a grant which will help provide much needed funding for House No. 18. We extend our gratitude to all FGSCC members for this wonderful contribution. Continued from page 1 W. Clay Lee started the family business in 1985. They have been doing superior quality roofing, siding and construction projects in the CSRA for over 30 years. His company is rooted in family values with his daughter Jami as the Chief Financial Officer and son-in-law, David Noyce as Vice President. Clay was awarded the North Augusta Small Business Person of the Year" award in 2008 and his companies have been voted "Best of the Best" by "The Star" readers for the past seven years. David attended Furman University where he met his wife Jami. A left handed pitcher, David played in the minor league system for six years playing for the Marlins, the Cubs, and the Diamondbacks. After his baseball career came to a close he and Jami settled in North Augusta and David completed his Business Management degree. David is Vice President of the companies and manages all aspects of the businesses. The third member of the team, Dustin Tyra, is a graduate of the University of South Carolina Aiken. Dustin is certified in Hydro Stop Waterproofing for both flat and metal roofs. Dustin is a native of Augusta. I can attest to the superior quality and efficiency of their work. In 2013 and 2014 David oversaw three major projects at our home including complete interior remodel, large addition including an outdoor kitchen, new roof, siding, decks, and an out-building. CONSTRUCTION UPDATE Progress has exceeded our expectations once again. In the final days of March, the roof shingles and siding were completed and on April 2 work begun on the power, plumbing and HVAC. We thank the Plumbers & Steamfitters Union of CSRA - Local 150 who completed all Roughed in plumbing before April s close. Rain gutters and down spouts are now in place. The focus is now on the insulation completion; it than will be time for the County inspection which is likely to take place in early May. This year they generously donated the installation labor to install the roof on house #17. They also performed the siding installation.
