ROLE DESCRIPTION Assistant District Commissioner (Adult Training) This vacancy is for Name of Scout District Located This District has Number of youth members Number of adults The District Commissioner is Purpose of the role Main Responsibilities The Assistant District Commissioner (Adult Training) is a key role which has responsibility for ensuring that adult leaders have access to the Adult Training Scheme and that they receive full support in completing training relevant to their role. Responsible to District Commissioner Main Contacts District Commissioner, District Appointment Secretary, Appointment Advisory Committee, Assistant Regional Commissioner (Adult Training), SHQ Commissioner (Adult Training), Training Advisers, District Executive Committee, Group Scout Leaders Ensure the effective operation of Adult Training within the District and in particular Getting Started Modules. Ensure that good quality training is delivered to adults Contribute as part of the District Team both in terms of the management and development of Adult Training within the District Contribute to the provision of adult training in the Region. Contribute where appropriate to working groups etc. set up at a local, Regional or Scottish level Promote and maintain the policies of The Scout Association Appointment requirements Understand and accept The Scout Association s policies A Wood Badge holder Satisfactory PVG clearance Completion of a Wood badge (training modules 1, 2, 4, 5-11, 21-25, 30-32)

Core Tasks Deliver a programme of Modules 1-4 using a variety of methods across the District Recruit a small team of presenters to assist with the delivery of Modules 1-4 Ensure all new adults are allocated a Training Adviser Liaise with the District Appointment Process to ensure that new and existing adults have access to timely training arrangements Act as an Adviser to the District Appointments Advisory Committee and District Team in regard to Training standards required for adults in the District Maintain accurate Training records and update the Membership Services System appropriately and in a timeous manner. Liaise with the Assistant Regional Commissioner (Adult Training) to ensure that the training needs of adults are available Liaise with the Regional Training Team to ensure that information about training is made available across the District Support adults in the District with their commitment to on-going learning Support the District Commissioner and Appointments Advisory Committee in their responsibility for on-going Learning and Appointment Review Person Specification Should be able to demonstrate The ability to communicate (verbal and nonverbal) to a wide variety of audiences The ability to manage a training and development function Presentation and Facilitation skills using a wide variety of methods High level of interpersonal skills Ability to lead a team Initiative Ability to motivate and enthuse others
