I) Reading comprehension a) Read the text. A letter from Australia Dear Peter! I m having the best time of my life here in Australia. The flight was very long, but o.k. I m so glad I won this trip at school. It s my first trip abroad and I have already seen many exciting things. Did you know that this continent is full of extremes? It has tropical jungles with lots of trees, big deserts* and many beautiful beaches. Last week I was in Sydney and I visited some of its famous sights, like the Sydney Opera House. But I didn t go shopping there I was too tired after the sightseeing tour. I had a Bush Tucker for lunch. The bush is the country and tucker is another word for food. It was delicious! Then I spent two days in Australia s capital: Canberra. At the moment I am in Queensland because I want to see the rainforests and The Great Barrier Reef with its fantastic corals. Next week I will go to Australia s most famous sight: Ayers Rock. This rock is very big and it can change its colour. The Aborigines* believe that spirits* live there.
