WELCOME Welcome to the National Gallery of Ireland s Children s and Families brochure for July to December 2016. We have planned over 100 free workshops and tours for families, covering themes from ancient to abstract art. We are striving to make the NGI as family-friendly as possible, so that you enjoy every visit and keep coming back! ACTIVITY WORKBOOKS Try our family activity workbook and activity sheets, which have something for all ages to do in the Gallery or at home. A selection of Activity Sheets are also available in Irish. Tá rogha Bileoga Gníomhaíochta ar fáil i ngaeilge. FAMILY PACKS Family Packs for children and tiny tots are available to borrow anytime free of charge to use in the galleries. After using, the packs should be returned to the information desk. DROP-IN CREATIVE SPACES If you feel like doing some creative work on your visit to the NGI, drop in to the atrium creative space. Crayons, pencils and paper are provided and there is a range of activity sheets available. Ask at the information desk for directions. Parents and guardians should remain with their children at all times. CHILDREN S AUDIO GUIDES These look at the same artworks as adult audio guides, so it s fun to enjoy this activity together as a family! Ask at the information desk for a free audio guide. CULTURE NIGHT Culture Night 2016 takes place on Friday the 16th September, and families can come and enjoy the music, performances, tours and atmosphere in the gallery. For those who want to get creative, you will find Quick Crafts drop-in stations in the Atrium Creative Space. Suitable for children aged 7+ SUMMER PROGRAMME FOR FAMILIES Drop-in workshops Whatever the weather, we have planned a summer of fun activities for families! Join us Mondays to Saturdays at 11am from 1 July to 31 August for our dropin Family Workshops, where we will be creating work inspired by art in the collection. Supervisor: Fala Buggy NGIBABY NEW PARENTS TOURS These tours are for babies and their grown-ups, and take place on the 3rd Wednesday of each month (except December, when it takes place on the 2nd Wednesday). Why not enjoy a tour with the guide and relax in the Gallery Café afterwards? Time: 2pm; Dates: 20 July, 17 August, 21 September, 19 October, 16 November, 14 December. NGIBABY WORKSHOPS These workshops are for babies and their grown-ups, and generally take place on the 3rd Monday of each month. Workshops start back in September after a summer break. The workshops are repeated at 12pm and 2pm to suit your routine. They are a fun and relaxing way for your babies to socialise and to explore new colours, textures and sounds as well as getting comfortable in the National Gallery!
