Summary & Backgrund Peple s Fd C-p exists t create access t fd that is healthy fr peple, land and the ecnmy. We d that primarily thrugh peratin f a retail natural fds grcery and area farmers markets. Part f ur scpe as an rganizatin is t supprt activities that enhance and inspire healthy lifestyles, including gardening, cking and canning. Peple s is currently accepting prpsals t prduce cking classes in an n-site kitchen. Peple s has been hsting cking classes n site fr the past fur years, and ff site fr several years prir t that. We wuld like t cntinue t ffer cking classes, but d nt have the staff capacity, thus we are lking fr an independent cntractr t fill that gap. With this RFP and the resulting review f prpsals, we hpe t find a cntractr with a visin t develp and maintain a rbust cking class prgram at Peple s. Guidelines This Request fr Prpsals represents the requirements fr an pen and cmpetitive prcess. Prpsals will be accepted until 9pm, Saturday, August 22, 2015. Any prpsals received after that time will nt be cnsidered. All prpsals must be signed. Final cntract terms and cnditins will be negtiated upn selectin f the winning bidder fr this RFP. Purpse & Descriptin The purpse f the Cking Class prgram at Peple s is t enhance access t eating well by supprting the develpment f cking skills and experiences that lend themselves t use f clean, whle ingredients. We recgnize that eating high quality fds is excellent fr health, planet and ecnmy, but can be challenging frm an affrdability standpint. Cking at hme frm whle ingredients can reduce this cst, and can be fun! The ideal Cking Class prgram at Peple s will embdy ur Ends/Missin Statement: The Peple s Fd C-p f Kalamaz exists t create access t fd that is healthy fr peple, land and the ecnmy. Scpe The crdinatin respnsibilities f a successful Cking Class prgram at PFC include: Seek talented teacher-chefs and class tpics. Organize with thse chefs themes, class cntent, and recipes cnsistent with ur Ends and values. Chse prgram dates that wrk fr PFC marketing, Can D Kitchen (CDK), and chefs. Schedule classes with the Can-D Kitchen r ther facilities. Cmmunicate class details t PFC Media Crdinatr at least three weeks prir t class. Cmmunicate ingredients and equipment needs with PFC buyers and managers tw weeks prir t class. Prmte cking classes publicly and encurage participatin. Cllect and transfer in ur pint f sale cmputer system, CPOS, all ingredients fr class needs. Attend each cking class, supprt the chef, and c-facilitate the learning experience as needed. Clean up the kitchen accrding t PFC and CDK standards after each class. Effectively cmmunicate any cancellatins r rescheduled classes t attendees with at least 24 hurs ntice. Utilize internal tracking system t measure results, budget, etc. We anticipate the abve t take n mre than five hurs per class fr the right candidate, and, ver time, mre like fur hurs.

Request fr Prpsal & Prject Timelines All prpsals must be received by PFC staff in paper r electrnic frm n later than 9pm Eastern n Saturday, August 22, 2015. Evaluatin f prpsals will be cnducted August 23 thrugh August 31, 2015. Bidders f interest will be invited t present in persn during that time perid t aid in PFC making the best decisin pssible. If additinal infrmatin r discussins are needed with any bidders during this perid, the bidder(s) will be ntified. The selectin decisin fr the winning bidder will be made n later than September 1, 2015. Upn ntificatin, the cnfirmatin f terms will begin with the winning bidder immediately, and cmpleted n later than September 10, 2015. Ntificatins t bidders wh were nt selected will be cmpleted n later than September 5, 2015. The first cking class prduced by the winning cntractr will be held in the mnth f Octber, and will prceed at least mnthly and up t weekly frm that pint frward fr at least 15 mnths, thrugh December 31, 2016. Budget The current budget per cking class is as fllws: Incme: $125 t $250 (based n class size) $25 fee per participant, due at the time f sign up at PFC. Maximum participants: 10. Thus the maximum incme per class is $250. We will cancel a class with fewer than 5 peple signed up tw days ut. Expenses: $98 t $135 plus Cking Class Crdinatr fee (based n class size) Teacher-Chef: $35 per class with registrants fewer than 8, and $50 per class with 8-10 participants. Can D Kitchen use fee: $48-$55* Fd: The budget fr fd fr classes AT PFC COST is n mre than $3 per participant, s $15 - $30 per class. Crdinatin Cntractr fee: Per class fee prpsed by the bidder and reviewed and accepted by PFC. * The CDK user fee is figured in a smewhat cmplicated way. Here are the details: $15 per hur fr three hurs ($45), PLUS 6% f class incme amunt ver the $45 rental amunt (s if the class is full, $200 less $45 is $155; 6% f $155 is $9.30). In this scenari the ttal use fee wuld be $54.30. The lwest amunt (5 participants) wuld be $48.30

Bidder Qualificatins Bidders shuld prvide the fllwing items as part f their prpsal fr cnsideratin: Descriptin f knwledge and experience in cking and kitchens Descriptin f experience in instructin r crdinatin f educatinal activities. Descriptin f hw wrk will be cmpleted and timeline fr each class. List f relatinships with chefs and ther prfessinals that will be helpful in this wrk. Anticipated methd f rganizing the wrk. Prpsal Evaluatin Criteria T ensure cnsideratin fr this Request fr Prpsal, yur prpsal shuld be cmplete and include r demnstrate all the fllwing criteria: Willingness and availability t start cking classes in Octber 2015. Capacity t supprt this prgram thrugh the end f 2016, at least. Experience in educatinal prgramming, ideally fd related. A plan t engage in a way that fully supprts and perpetuates the PFC Ends and values. A cmpensatin plan fr the prject that at least breaks even fr the PFC. All prpsal prviders that meet the abve criteria will be asked t cme and present t part f the PFC team t aid PFC staff in making a final decisin.
