CLARK CONNECTIONS Year End, 2014 Looking Ahead Aug. 25 School Office Reopens Aug. 28 Junior Kindergarten lemonade party 10:00-11:00 a.m. Sept. 2 FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL GRADES Senior Kindergarten to 5 Sept. 2-6 Staggered Entrance for Junior Kindergarten Students Sept. 23 Professional Activity Day! NO SCHOOL FOR STUDENTS!!! Sept. 29 Meet the Teacher & Fall Fair night 6:00-7:00 p.m. This time of year provides the opportunity to reflect and celebrate our many accomplishments as a school community. As I look back to September, it was the start of a fantastic year at Clark! We have accomplished so much in the last 10 months. Teachers have worked diligently to address student achievement, in all areas of student life: academically, physically and socially. Over the last month, we have seen our Grade 3 students preparing for the annual EQAO test. In addition, our Grade 4 students learned about Ancient Civilizations, while the Grade 5 s learned about New France. Both groups worked diligently towards their culminating celebration, a Feast. Mr. Sebastian and I took great pleasure in congratulating our students. This month, we have seen the start of what we all hope is a new tradition at Clark: Shark Week. This week, organized by our PE staff and led by Mrs. Neal, gave our students the opportunity to get to know the TRIBES philosophy of inclusion, respect and appreciation for one another. The Grade 1 students spent time at Balmoral Pool, sharpening their swimming skills, and together, the whole school participated in an end of the week, Play day in their tribes. Students showed much appreciation for this wonderful opportunity. A huge thank you to Mrs. Neal, who worked tirelessly to organize the event, and all the staff who came together to implement a fantastic week for our students! Check out our events on Twitter: #clarksharkweek. Thanks too to Ms. Knezevic, Ms. Pettibone and Ms. Robinson who organized the Clark got Talent talent show. Clark talent was in abundance with skipping, dancing and singing. Thank you students for sharing your talents with the school community. I would like to extend our very best wishes to our Grade 5 students who are leaving us to begin their middle school journey. Our annual Fall Fair and Open House is scheduled for Monday September 29 th, from 6-7 pm. Please visit us! On behalf of the staff of Clark Blvd PS, we wish you a safe and enjoyable summer! Sincerely, Deborah Falcao-Linton Principal Kevin Sebastian Vice Principal School Hours 8:25 a.m. Supervision begins outside Students should not arrive earlier for their safety 8:35-8:40 a.m. Entry and Opening Exercises 11:00-11:40 a.m. 1st Nutrition Break/Recess 1:00-1:40 p.m. 2nd Nutrition Break/Recess 3:00 p.m. School Ends ALL STUDENTS CAN SHINE!

Students who require medication during school hours will need to have a new medication form completed for the next school year. These "Administration of Prescribed Medication" forms will be sent home before the year ends with students who currently have medication at school. If there are other students who will need one, please inform the office to send a form home. Please take the opportunity over the summer to have this filled out and signed by your doctor and return it with the medication by the first day of school. Parents who would like to volunteer in school activities, in the classrooms or on excursions must have a Criminal Record Check. It is necessary for anyone who wishes to volunteer at Clark Boulevard, including those who volunteered prior to 2001, to have a Criminal Record Check completed and submitted to the Peel District School Board before they can volunteer in the school. If you are considering volunteering for the upcoming school year, you will need to speak to Mr. Kevin Sebastian, Vice- Principal. The We Welcome the World Centres are open during July and August to register and provide orientation interview/assessment appointments for new students to Peel. THIS DOCUMENT IS IMPORTANT. Dear Parents and Guardians, Clark Boulevard Public School is pleased to announce our subscription to School Connects Automated Notification Service provided through Synrevoice Technologies Inc. School Connects can deliver a wide variety of messages by phone and email to parents and our staff at a very high speed. It will help enhance overall communication within our school community and improve our emergency preparedness. We believe that good attendance is an important factor contributing to the academic success of students. To keep you informed of your child s class attendance in a timely manner, we will be using School Connects to notify you by phone whenever your child is marked absent from class. The phone calls are usually made to your home phone in the evening when you are likely there. If you have a personal mobile phone, you have the choice of having School Connects call your mobile phone to ensure that you personally get the messages. Please let your child s school know and we will be glad to make the change for you. Upon receiving an absence notice, please call the school office attendance line at 905-793-0235 to let us know the reason for the absence. To ensure correct delivery of all school messages to you, please make sure that your contact phone numbers are updated when your children register for each school year. Whenever your contact phone numbers change, please let us know as well. We are excited about using School Connects to enhance communication and improve the quality of education for your child.
