United States Naval Academy Prepares young men and women to become professional officers in the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps Approximately 2,000 candidates are found fully qualified each year Of that number, about 1,500 will receive appointments Approximately 1,200 become midshipmen Attend the Academy for four years Naval Academy graduates serve at least five years in the Navy or Marine Corps

United States Air Force Academy Prepares young men and women to become officers in the U.S. Air Force Out of 12,000 applicants each year, just over 1,000 are admitted as cadets Average SAT Verbal: 643 Average SAT Math: 674 Must pass physical test as well Complete the course of instruction at the Academy and serve as a commissioned officer in the Air Force for at least 8 years after graduation, 5 of which must be active duty Flight training is a longer time commitment
