1. Scope of Service 1.1 About Boxcryptor Classic Boxcryptor Classic is an easy- to- use cryptographic virtual harddisk that transparently encrypts data on- the- fly and stores the encrypted data in an arbitrary directory of your choice.! Boxcryptor Classic is easy and transparent to use: When saving files to the virtual harddisk, Boxcryptor Classic encrypts them on- the- fly and stores the encrypted files. When reading files, Boxcryptor Classic decrypts them in real- time so that they are accessible as any other unencrypted file.! File- by- File encryption: Boxcryptor Classic works on individual files at a time and not on container files. That means no need to resize volumes and no problems to synchronize or backup individual files! 1.2 About this manual This manual describes the use of Boxcryptor Classic. 2. Installation Boxcryptor Classic for Android can be downloaded from Google Play. It is listed in Tools and requires Android 2.1 or higher. Or just scan the QR- code below: 4
3. Basic functionality Boxcryptor Classic for Android encrypts and decrypts your files on your mobile device. It is optimized for Dropbox, Google Drive, Microsoft SkyDrive, Box and SugarSync. The app also offers WebDAV support, which is currently preconfigured for various storage providers. Another feature Boxcryptor Classic for Android offers is to use your local phone storage to store encrypted files. 3.1. Setting up Boxcryptor Classic for Android 1. Connect to After starting Boxcryptor Classic you can choose to which provider you want to connect or if you want to connect to your SD card. To connect to SugarSync tap it and then type in the necessary account information and tap Login to. These credentials are never stored (not even locally on the device) and never sent anywhere else except to the provider server in order to get an authentication token which is then stored on the device. This is necessary to access your files. 5
2. Choose your encrypted folder If you have already created an encrypted folder, browse to the source folder which contains the encrypted files (e.g. Dropbox\Boxcryptor Classic) otherwise go to point 4. Boxcryptor Classic for Android automatically detects if a folder is a valid source folder. 3. Type in your Boxcryptor Classic password Boxcryptor Classic for Android now asks for the password which is used to encrypt the files. You can choose whether Boxcryptor Classic for Android should remember your password or if you want to type in your password every time you start Boxcryptor Classic for Android. 4. Create a new encrypted folder If you have not already set up an encrypted folder you can do this directly in Boxcryptor Classic for Android. Just click on the folder symbol on the top left. Now you can see the following options: 6
Name: Here you can type in the name of the new encrypted folder. Password: Define and enter a new password for the encrypted folder. Confirm: To prevent typing errors you have to confirm your password. Store password: You can choose whether Boxcryptor Classic for Android should remember your password or if you want to type in your password every time Boxcryptor Classic for Android starts. Advanced: o Filename Encryption: You can disable filename encryption here if you want your filenames to be saved in plain text. We recommend filename encryption for higher security! o Encryption algorithm: You can choose between AES- 128, AES- 192, AES- 256. For highest security choose AES- 256 and for best performance AES- 128. We recommend AES- 256 for highest security! 7
3.2 Using Boxcryptor Classic for Android You can now browse and view your encrypted files just like you know it from the native Dropbox App. When you click on a file with a long press, a submenu opens where you can open, delete, download or share the file. By clicking on share, the file is downloaded and decrypted. Then a list of apps is shown. You can now choose with which app you want to share this file (e.g. with Facebook) 8
3.2.1. Open file When you open a file by tapping on it, Boxcryptor Classic for Android downloads the encrypted file, decrypts it on your device and opens it with the appropriate application on your device. 3.2.2. Delete file To delete a file or folder tap and hold it. A window opens where you can choose to delete the file or folder. 3.2.3. Upload files To upload new files to your encrypted Boxcryptor Classic folder you can either use the "Upload" menu button at the top to select a file or send any file to the Boxcryptor Classic app using the built- in share feature of many apps. You can interrupt the upload by tapping cancel right to the progress bar as shown below. After uploading you can select the desired place 9

4. Preferences menu By tapping the option button at the top right you have access to several menu entries. 4.1. Refresh Click here if you want to refresh the current folder. 4.2. Preferences - General Change Storage Provider: 11
The stored authentication token will be deleted and Boxcryptor Classic for Android will no longer be linked to your cloud storage account or your SD card.! Change Boxcryptor Classic folder: If you have multiple encrypted source folders, this menu item lets you change the source folder! Clear stored password: Deletes the stored password for the current source folder. At the next start of Boxcryptor Classic for Android, you have to enter the password again.! App Unlock: If you want to additionally secure your data you can activate the App Unlock feature. Then a numeric PIN is required to unlock Boxcryptor Classic every time it is opened.! Reset app: This will reset all your authentications and stored passwords when entering a wrong pin three times. 4.3. Preferences- Cache! File cache size Here you can choose the size of the file cache. A higher cache size allows the app to store more/bigger files which speeds up the workflow.! Clear Cache Here you can clear the current cache.! Clear Saved Cache Delete decrypted files that have been shared with other apps. 4.4. Preferences - File Previewer! Use file previewer Enable this setting to use our build in file previewer to browse your file.! Choose file types Select which file types you want to associate with the file previewer. 4.5. File Browser! Hide System files 12
