Teams will be notified by telephone and/or email by Wednesday, November 5 th, if this should occur. So please fill out ALL information on the TEAM INFORMATION page and turn that in with your entries by the deadline. WARM UP: Friday Session: 4:00PM warmup Sat/Sun Morning Session: 1 st Warmup: 7:20 7:50 A.M. 2 nd Warmup: 7:50-8:20 A.M. Sat/Sun Afternoon Session: Open Warm up not to start before 12:30pm for 1 hour. Sprint and pace lanes to be designated the last 25 minutes. Warmup Lane assignments will be posted on www.birminghamswimleague.org and will be in coaches packet. LOCATION: Crossplex 2337 Bessemer Road Birmingham, AL 35208 205-279-8900 FACILITIES: Pool: 50 meter or 25 Yards, 10 lanes, with non-turbulence lane ropes. The competition course has not been certified in accordance with 104.2.2C(4). Water depth is a consistent 8 feet deep from both ends of short course competition. Timing: Fully automatic Colorado system 5000 electronic timing equipment. Warmup/warmdown available at all times.
REGISTRATION: All participants must be currently registered USA Swimming athletes and 2014 or 2015 registration numbers are required to be listed on the entry forms. No entry will be accepted without proper registration numbers. NO USA Swimming membership registration will be available at the meet. RULES: AGE: ENTRIES & DEADLINE: Current USA Swimming Rules will govern the meet. Swimmer's age on the first day of the meet will determine the age for the meet. Entries may be limited to 325 swimmers per session. Each swimmer may enter a maximum of four (4) events per day Saturday and Sunday, and one (1) event on Friday, exclusive of relays. Swimmers must be at least 11 years old to enter Senior Open events. Entries will open for all teams on Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at 12:00PM CDT and close at 11:59PM CDT on Saturday, November, 1 2014, or when session limits have been reached. Entries will not be accepted before or after the entry period. The MEET ENTRY CHAIRMAN must receive team entry sheets, entry fees, and surcharges to be an acceptable team entry. If entries are e-mailed, a hard copy (including all information and release forms) must follow by mail and be postmarked prior to the deadline. Email confirmations will be sent out as entries are received. Please make sure the meet entry chair confirms your entries. No entry fees will be refunded. Please make one check payable to BSL. Late entries may be accepted at the discretion of the Meet Entry Chairman. However, late entries will be accepted on a "lane available" basis and may not appear in the heat sheet. All new to the meet late entry swimmers must present 2014 USA Swimming registration card at clerk of course. Swimmers should be entered at their best competitive SC times. Times will not be changed because of times made after entry deadline. Entries can be submitted as a Hy-Tek Team Manager entry file along with a printout of entries. Teams submitting entries on disk will receive a copy of final results on disk. Entry error: If due to a BSL error, the swimmer will be deck entered in an open lane of the heat nearest his/her entry time or in a new heat. The entire event will not be re-seeded. SCRATCHES/SCRATCH PENALTIES: All scratches should be submitted to the Clerk of Course as soon as possible to provide lanes for possible late entries. A swimmer may scratch a pre-seeded event on the blocks without penalty. Swimmers entered in a deck-seeded event, who have checked in for that event, must swim in the event unless they notify the Clerk of Course (before seeding for that event has been done) that they wish to scratch. Failure to scratch prior to seeding and not swimming the event will result in the swimmer being barred from the next individual event in which they are entered, whether it is that day or the next day. ELIGIBILITY: SEEDING: SCORING: AWARDS: This is an open meet. Event seeding will be TIMED FINALS. The 400IM, 500 Free, and 1,650 Free will be deck seeded and must be positively checked in. 1 st -11pts, 2 nd -9pts, 3 rd -8pts, 4 th -7pts, 5 th -6pts, 6 th -5pts, 7 th -4pts, 8 th -3pts, 9 th -2pts, 10 th -1pt All awards will be based on high point scoring for 8-U, 10-U and 11-12 events. There will be no awards for 13-14, Senior, or Open events. Awards will be given to the top 3 places in 11-12 girls and boys, 10-U girls and boys, and 8-U girls and boys. An 8&U entered in a 10&U event will be awarded points for the 10&U event. Awards will be given at the end of the Sunday morning session. Awards will not be mailed. Please have someone from your team present to pick them up. Should there be any questions, MEET OFFICIALS will recognize ONLY coaches or their designated representatives. SAFETY: Coaches must present his/her current USA-S coaching credentials at check-in. No coach will be allowed on deck without proof of coaching credentials and must have them at all times on deck. In the interest of safety and accident prevention, coaches and swimmers are asked to observe all posted pool rules and facility rules referred to in this meet information and to conduct themselves in a safe and prudent manner. Birmingham Swim League will not accept responsibility for anyone who climbs to an unsafe height for any reason. Southeastern Swimming Meet Safety Guidelines and Warm-up Procedures will be in effect at this meet. Any swimmer entered in the meet, unaccompanied by a USA Swimming member coach, must be certified by a USA Swimming member coach as being proficient in performing a racing start or must start each race from within the water. It is the responsibility of the swimmer or the swimmer s legal guardian to ensure compliance with this requirement. CROSSPLEX NATATORIUM FOOD AND BEVERAGE POLICY No outside food/beverages may be brought into the CrossPlex during events by spectators and/or coaches and athletes. This includes coolers, bags and backpacks containing such items. Attendees with coolers, bags and backpacks containing food/beverages will be asked to return them to their vehicles prior to entering the CrossPlex. Attendees displaying beverage cups and/outside food bags looking to enter the CrossPlex will be asked to either place those items in external trash receptacles or consume these items outside prior to entering the CrossPlex. Athletes may purchase food and beverages at CrossPlex Concession Stands located in the lower concourse. These items with the exception of nachos will be allowed on the Natatorium deck. Meet Administration, coaches, officials and volunteers may remove snacks and beverages from the ondeck hospitality room during the event. Athletes may bring their own empty refillable water bottle. Water coolers will be made available on the pool deck. No collapsible chairs of any kind are allowed in the Crossplex. There is adequate seating in the natatorium bleachers. Attendees failing to cooperate with these policies may be asked to leave the CrossPlex.
