New this Year: SPE is holding a one-day workshop alongside the conference focused on well pad development. The SPE Oilsands Workshop: Competitive Strategies for In-Situ Well Pad Development will take place Thursday, 9 June. The primary objective of the workshop is to bring together operators, service companies, research bodies, regulatory authorities and others, in a collaborative environment to discuss the asset lifecycle of a pad development from the reservoir characterization to installation, design and operations. The goal is to identify primary cost drivers and opportunities for cost reduction while still meeting design intent and without jeopardizing health, safety, or the environment. Special Events at the Conference: Young Professionals Seminar SPE Calgary Section Young Professionals Seminar will be hosted at the SPE Canada Heavy Oil Technical Conference. SPE defines a Young Professional as any professional in any discipline aged 36 or less who currently works in or around the energy sector. Engineers, Geoscientists, Business, Finance, Landmen etc. are encouraged to attend. Cost for SPE members is CAD 15 and for non-members is CAD 20. Global Petroleum Show Attendees of the SPE Canada Heavy Oil Technical Conference can also visit the exhibition at the Global Petroleum Show (GPS). Admission to the exhibition is free with your conference badge.
