It's great to travel in the spring! Webb Tours is delighted to once again offer our popular getaway to the east coast. From Washington, we'll travel to Gettysburg, Amish Country, Philadelphia, and into New York City. While in the Big Apple, we'll enjoy up to two Broadway shows (of your choosing) and return to Salt Lake from New York. It is among our most popular tours year after year. We would love to have you join us. Daily Itinerary April 20: Salt Lake to Washington DC. Today we'll board our flight to the Washington DC area. We'll arrive in the late afternoon. Our hotel is in a nearby suburb. We'll have a buffet welcome dinner tonight and make an evening visit to the Lincoln/Vietnam and Korean Memorials (stunning at night). Tour to pay for dinner and flights today. April 21: Washington DC. After breakfast, we will begin to see the sites. Temperatures are pleasant, spring is in the air, and it's a great time to be in Washington D.C. We ll start with a reserved tour inside the Capiol, with the excellent new film. We'll then see the World War II Memorial with its majestic setting and inspiring layout. We ll also have a picture stop at the White House. The most magnificent monuments this time of year are the new FDR Memorial and the Jefferson Memorial. After lunch, we'll visit Arlington Cemetery where we'll see the Kennedy graves, witness the Changing of the Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldiers and the impressive Lee Mansion (if you've seen the cemetery, you can choose from other activities). During the day, we ll also visit the 9/11 Pentagon Memorial and the Iwo Jima Memorial. This evening, we'll turn you loose in the delightful town of Alexandria where you can browse the quaint streets, enjoy dinner and feel the history of one of America's great towns. This is where George Washington spent his social time. Tour to pay for breakfast and Arlington Tourmobile April 22: Washington DC. This morning we'll take a beautiful 20 minute drive to Mt. Vernon where we'll spend the morning. This was George Washington's home on the Potomac River which is spectacular in the spring. We'll have a guided tour of the inside of the home and free time to see the gardens, out buildings, tombs of George & Martha and the education center recently opened with exceptional historical films and displays. Mt. Vernon is one of our nation s greatest treasures especially with all they have recently added. For lunch, we'll eat at one of George Washington's favorite places: Gadsby's Tavern. This is an 18th century tavern where George & Martha Washington shared many occasions. We ll spend the afternoon at the Smithsonian Museums. You choose what is most interesting to you (American History, Air & Space, Natural History or even the Holocaust Museum). We'll return to the hotel for dinner and rest this evening. Tour to pay for light breakfast, lunch and Mt. Vernon. April 23: Washington to York: After breakfast, we'll drive by Ford Theater, Georgetown and Embassy Row. We ll make picture stops at the National Cathedral and the stunning LDS Temple that appears to float on the trees.
