How do I enrol? All learners must provide proof of ID and National Insurance Number. If claiming a concession proof of benefit must be provided. No early enrolments will be permitted. All enrolments are on a first come first served basis. Enrolments cannot be made for learners who are unable to attend the enrolment session. Enrolment times are listed at the back of this brochure by Centre details. If you miss enrolment times, don t worry. It will be possible to enrol at the first session of the class of your choice, unless the class is full. Some classes will not be able to run unless there are 10 learners enrolled by week 3 of the course. Please contact us if you are unsure if a class is for you or not, we can arrange for the class tutor to give you a call. FOOD SAFETY IN CATERING LEVEL 2 1 DAY COURSE The qualification is designed principally for those who are, or intend to be, food handlers working in catering. Day: Tuesday 9.30-4.00 Venue: Blackwood Cost: from 10.00 EUROPEAN COMPUTER DRIVING LICENCE (ECDL) EXTRA ECDL Extra promotes the efficient use of popular office application software including word processing, spreadsheets, and presentations. Day: Thursday @ 6-9 pm Venue: Oxford House Cost: 237** POOL LIFEGUARD AWARD The HABC Level 2 Award in Pool Lifeguarding is an accredited qualification is valid for two years and is of equal standing to other Pool Lifeguard qualifications. Candidates can keep up to date with regular on-going training, it provides the necessary skills and knowledge for learners who wish to apply for posts as a pool lifeguard (100 % attendance is required). You need to be able to swim front crawl for 50 metres with confidence in 50 seconds. The course will also include the EFAW and AED awards. If successful you will gain three qualifications. CLASSROOM ASSISTANT AGORED LEVEL 2 This qualification is aimed at people who would like an introduction into becoming a teaching assistant in a school and could lead onto the Level 2 Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools. Day: Wednesday 6.30 8.30pm Venue: 15 weeks Cost: 78 (concessions apply)** SUPPORTING TEACHING & LEARNING IN SCHOOLS LEVEL 2 This qualification will enable learners to develop the knowledge and skills needed when supporting teaching and learning in primary, secondary or special schools. It covers a wide range of areas including children and young people s develop-ment, supporting those with disabilities or special educational needs and commu-nication and professional relationships. You will need to be working, volunteering or on practical placement as you need to show competence in both knowledge and skills. It can meet the needs of a range of trainee teachers, such as: Individuals not currently teaching or training Individuals currently teaching and training, including those new to the profession Learners are required to gather knowledge about the role and responsibilities of a teacher. During this intensive course, they will be encouraged to develop skills which will enable them to plan, deliver and evaluate basic teaching and learning sessions. You will be required to plan and deliver a number of micro teaching sessions, and submit three academic assignments (1000-1500 words each using the Harvard referencing technique), all of which will mean extra work outside of the taught classroom sessions noted below. What are the entry requirements for this qualification? Learners must be aged 19+ and undertake a formal initial assessment for English, mathematics and ICT. You will be tested on these entry requirements. You will be expected to conduct micro teaches using ICT.
