Writing equatins Yu can write equatins n the page using pen tray pens (n interactive whitebards) r a tethered pen and pen tl buttns (n interactive pen displays). N O T E Yu can als insert equatins using the Equatin editr (see Inserting equatins n the previus page). T write equatins 1. Press Pens. The Pens tl buttns appear. 2. Press Pen Types, and then select Pen. 3. Select a line type. 4. Write the equatin n the interactive screen using the tips in the fllwing sectins. 5. T insert irregular plygns 1. Display the SMART Ntebk Math Tls buttns (see page 1). 2. Press Irregular Plygns. 3. Press where yu want t place the shape s first vertex. The first vertex appears as a small red circle. 4. Press where yu want t place the next vertex. A line appears between the tw vertices. 5. Repeat step 4 t add mre vertices. 6. Press the first vertex s red circle t stp adding vertices and cmplete the shape. N O T E After creating an irregular plygn, yu can display its interir angles and display its side lengths (see Displaying interir angles belw and Displaying and editing side lengths n the next page). Displaying interir angles Yu can display the interir angles f a shape. N O T E S If yu display these angles and then edit the vertices f the shape (see Displaying and editing the vertices f a shape n page 12), SMART Ntebk Math Tls updates the labels and displays the new interir angles. If yu edit the displayed length, SMART Ntebk Math Tls recalculates and displays the lengths f the ther sides. N O T E S If yu display these lengths and then edit the vertices f the shape (see Displaying and editing the vertices f a shape n the next page), SMART Ntebk Math Tls updates the labels and displays the new side lengths. Yu can als display interir angles (see Displaying interir angles n the previus page). T display side lengths 1. Select the shape. 2. Press the shape s menu arrw, and then select Shw/Hide Side Lengths. SMART Ntebk Math Tls calculates the lengths based n the ruler s default units. T display the vertices f a shape 1. Select the shape. 2. Press the shape s menu arrw, and then select Shw/Hide Vertices. A red circle replaces each f the shape s vertices. T edit the vertices f a shape 1. If yu haven t dne s already, display the shape s vertices. 2. Drag a red circle t mve that vertex. 3. When yu finish editing the shape s vertices, press anywhere else n the page. T hide the vertices f a shape 1. Select the shape. 2. Press the shape s menu arrw, and then select Shw/Hide Vertices again. Dividing shapes Yu can divide a circle, square r rectangle int separate pieces f equal area. After yu insert the graph, yu can mve r change the zm level f this graph. After yu insert the graph, yu can custmize the title f the graph and edit the start pint, end pint, labels and grid lines f its axes. Yu can als add a line f best fit based n the pints in the graph. Display the SMART Ntebk Math Tls buttns (see page 1). 2. Press Graph Tables. A grid appears. 3. Select the number f rws that yu want in the table. The cells f the grid crrespnd t the cells f yur table. The table appears n the page. 4. Type values int the table s cells. 5. Press the table s menu arrw, and then select Math Actins > Generate Graph. If yu update the infrmatin in the table, SMART Ntebk Math Tls updates the graph and vice versa. T break the cnnectin between a graph and a table 1. Select the table r the graph. A blue highlight appears arund bth the table and the graph. An X in a blue circle appears between them. 2. Press the X symbl. If yu update the infrmatin in the table and the cnnectin is brken, SMART Ntebk Math Tls desn t update the graph and vice versa. T recnnect a graph and a table 1. Select the table.
