Bing Maps for Enterprise Licensing Overview Bing Maps is a subscription based service. The volume license SKU s required to prepare a quote will depend upon the kind of application that the end user is looking to license. The (2) main scenarios for licensing are: Public facing websites that do not require a login, password or authenticated users to access the application. Internal use applications that will require a login, password or authenticated user to access the application on either an Extranet or Internet. Additionally if the user is required to pay a fee to access the application this is also considered internal use. Transactional License for public facing websites will require both a platform access fee and a usage bundle. Select the correct platform access fee (SGA) SKU. Then select the correct usage bundle for transactions which are the (SFA) SKU s. See the (3) options below: (BingMapsAddOn ALNG SubsVL MVL 25KTrnsctn) 25,000 transactions per month. (BingMapsAddOn ALNG SubsVL MVL 250KTrnsctn) 250,000 transactions per month. (BingMapsAddOn ALNG SubsVL MVL UltdTrxAddOn) Unlimited transactions for the term of the agreement. Bing Maps is a monthly subscription service. Therefore you will need to multiply both the platform access fee (SGA) SKU and the usage bundle fee (SFA) SKU by the number of months that remain in the agreement. IMPORTANT NOTE ON TRANSACTIONS Customers are able to purchase multiple bundles of transactions (for example 2 x 250k per month for a total of 6 million transactions) for the term of the agreement. Any unused transactions can be rolled over on a monthly basis up to enrolment anniversary date. On the enrolment anniversary date, all unused transactions that have accrued up to that point expire. Customers can purchase additional bundles of transactions during the term of the contract if they exceed their usage prior to the expiration date. It is the end users responsibility to monitor their usage and purchase additional bundles of transactions if required. Once bundles of transactions have been purchased they cannot be reduced. 1

Examples of transactional license for a public facing website: EXAMPLE 1. A 12 month Bing Maps subscription for a small business store locator website to be licensed on Open Value. The SGA-00008 (Platform Access Fee) multiplied by 12 (months) for a total cost for the platform fee. The SFA-00070 (usage bundle) 25,000 transactions per month multiplied by 12 months for a total of 300,000 transactions/sessions for the term of the agreement). *Both the platform access fee and selected transactional bundle need to be multiplied by the number of months in the agreement. EXAMPLE 2. A travel portal with very large, unpredictable volumes (predicting usage to be up to 6million transactions), requires a fixed annual cost for their web mapping, to be licensed on their EA (Enterprise Agreement) for a 12 month period. The SFA-00002 (Platform Access Fee) multiplied by 12 (months) for a total cost for the platform fee. The SFA-00065 (usage bundle) multiplied by (2) bundles of 250,000 transactions per month multiplied by 12 months for a total of 6 million transactions/sessions for the term of the agreement. *Please note that multiple bundles of transactions can be added to increase the usage if required. **Both the platform access fee and selected transactional bundle need to be multiplied by the number of months in the agreement. Known Users License for internal application will require both a platform access fee and number of known users. Select the correct platform access fee (SGA) SKU. You will need to know the number of users licensed for the application then select the (SFA) SKU for the number of known users. See below. (BingMapsAddOn ALNG SubsVL MVL PerUsr) Each Known User has unlimited use of the Bing Maps Service Bing Maps is a monthly subscription service therefore you will need to multiply the platform access fee (SGA) SKU by the number of months in the agreement. Additionally you need the number of known users that will be licensed for the application multiplied by the (SFA) SKU multiplied by the number of months in the agreement for a total cost for the Known User license for internal use. Examples for a known user license for an internal use application: EXAMPLE 1. A company has built an online mileage calculator to be used internally by employees to estimate mileage allowed for business travel expense reporting. This service is a Bing Maps application and the company has licensed 120 users on a Select Agreement. The SGA 00001 (Platform Access Fee) multiplied by 12 (months) for total cost for the platform fee. The number of licensed users for the application (120) multiplied by SFA-00001 (KU SKU) multiplied by 12 (months) for a total cost for number of known users. *Both the platform access fee (SGA) SKU and the SFA SKU for the number of known users need to be multiplied by the number of months in the agreement for a total cost for the Known User license for an internal application. EXAMPLE 2. A company has built an online sales reporting business intelligence tool to be used internally by employees to visualize company sales by geography. The application is built within SharePoint and connects to the SQL database. This service is a Bing maps/sql/sharepoint application and the company has licensed 250 users on an Enterprise Agreement. The SGA 00002 (Platform Access Fee) multiplied by 12 (months) for total cost for the platform fee. The number of licensed users for the application (250) multiplied by SFA-00002 (KU SKU) multiplied by 12 (months) for a total cost for number of known users. *Both the platform access fee (SGA) SKU and the SFA SKU for the number of known users need to be multiplied by the number of months in the agreement for a total cost for the Known User license for an internal application. 3

This feature provides an aerial map view at 45 degrees. Currently, this feature covers major metropolitan areas in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Western Europe, and Australia. As with the road and other aerial map styles, standard navigation methods can be used to pan and zoom the Bird s Eye imagery. Bird s Eye enhancements for the Silverlight Map Control create a rich experience with smooth zooming and panning and detailed views. How frequently are data and imagery updated? We are continually updating Bing Maps with new imagery provided by our partners, including aerial, Bird s Eye, and global satellite imagery. Several terabytes of data and imagery are added and updated each month, with regions of higher population density generally seeing the most new data. What browsers does Bing Maps support?
