Setting up Your NVR 1. Insert your micro SD card (purchased separately) into the slot on the side of the NVR. Push till 'clicked' into place. 2. Insert the Ethernet cable into the NVR and connect to a spare port on your broadband router (not your computer). 3. Now connect the power cable. Wait two minutes for the NVR to start up fully. 4. If you have a Windows computer, open a web browser (Firefox, Chrome or Edge) and in the web address bar type in //NV808/ then the enter/return key. This will take you directly to the NVR's admin interface. If you are using a Mac, mobile or tablet then do the following instead: a) From your mobile/tablet app store download a free app called Fing b) Run Fing and make a note of the IP address shown next to NV808 c) Type the IP address into your web browser. E.g. if the IP address shows as 192.168.0.44 then type into your browser http://192.168.0.44 and enter/return. 5. Click Setting and enter the default username (admin) and password (admin). Both should be in lower case. 6. You now have 2 ways to get the NVR to work over WiFi: a) Press the WPS button on your router for 5 seconds till it flashes. Now press the WPS button on your NVR for 5 seconds only. Wait for a couple of minutes and the NVR should sync over WiFi. b) Alternatively, in the NVR admin interface click Setting and go to Network > Wireless Setup. Using Search select your network (SSID) from the list and click OK. Enter your WiFi (WEP or WPA) key/pasword. Click Apply. You can then press Test to verify the WiFi details have taken correctly. Power off the NVR, then remove the Ethernet cable. Power on the NVR again and wait a couple of minutes for it to connect over WiFi. 8. Repeat steps 4 and 5 to verify the NVR is online again, as the IP address may have changed after reboot to WiFi.
Set the NVR details in your camera(s) 1. Login to your camera's admin Setting page. If you are unsure how refer to http://www.ucam247.com/knowledge-base/48 2. Go to Storage > Storage Setup and complete as per the example below: NAS remote path: Enter the path of your NV808 NVR box (i.e. //ip-address/nvr). If you've forgotten the IP address, you will find the details on the first page when you login to your NVR's admin interface. Refer to NVR Setup section in this manual if you need a refresher on how to access it. Be sure to enter the NAS path with // at the start and /nvr at the end. So, for example, if the IP address of the NVR is 192.168.0.44 then the path MUST be entered as: //192.168.0.44/nvr Store directory: Enter a single word name, e.g. outdoorcamera, etc. This is the name given to the folder on the NVR where clips from this camera will be stored. Use letters and/or numbers only - do not use special characters or leave any gaps in the name. Click Apply when ready. Within two minutes the folder will auto create on the NVR. 3. Now go to Task > Task Management and tick the box marked Record to storage on Alarm. Click Apply. NB: Do not enable too many tasks as that will slow down and even stop recordings. 4. If you need you can now fine tune the motion sensitivity from Task > Motion Detection. Be sure to click Apply after making any changes.
Playback on Mobile/Tablet Viewing recordings from a mobile/tablet 1) Open the UCam247Live app 2) Select Videos and Photos tab 3) Tap semi circle with left arrow next to your camera 4) Tap SD icon 5) Wait for the video clips list to load (Failed to load? Try again from step 4) 6) Tap a clip to play NB: The size of the video clip and the speed of the broadband connection on the device you are viewing from will affect the quality and speed of playback. For best results ensure you are on WiFi and use the PC/Mac method (see next page) for smoother video playback.
Video playback on a PC/Mac Viewing clips on a Windows PC/Mac 1) Go to the NVR's admin interface in your web browser. Refer to steps (4) and (5) of NVR Setup (first part of this manual) if you are unsure how to do this. 2) In the Setting area click the Browse tab to display the store directory for your camera(s). 3) Click the desired folder to list the clips 4) You can now Download and view in your media player or click Play to play in your browser (Adobe Flash plugin required). If your PC does not download when your click the Download button, right click your mouse or trackpad pointer over the Download link and select 'Save As...' to save the file to your desktop. Once saved to your PC you can play back the file in a media player on your PC. The files are saved in.mov format, most players can play this back however if your PC cannot I recommend you check out VLC player at http://www.videolan.org/
Troubleshooting & Tips Why is the NVR not recording? Reasons: Apart from ensuring you have entered the NAS remote path into your camera(s) correctly the problem may be with the micro SD card. Or some setting is incorrect either in the NVR or in your camera. Resolution: Ensure the SD card is inserted and clicked into place. Has the SD card been formatted for the NVR? Access the NVR admin interface and go to Storage > Format SD Card. Click the format button and wait for format to complete. Check that you have entered the NAS path correctly. Refer back to the Set the NVR details in your camera(s) section in this manual. Still no luck? Try a router reboot, simply power your router off for ten minutes then power it back on again. After the reboot is complete try triggering some recordings to the NVR by moving around in front of the camera. If still nothing check that you have got task 9 "record to storage on alarm" enabled in the camera's Task Management page. Make sure that only one of the to storage options are ticked on this page. Why has the NVR stopped recording? Reasons The IP address of the NVR may have changed. This is controlled by your router - the NVR may get assigned a different IP address from time to time for various reasons e.g. router reboot, NVR gets rebooted after a power cut, etc. Resolution: Just check the IP address of the NVR again using the methods described in NVR Setup section and update the same in your camera(s) by following the Set the NVR details in your camera(s) section. Be sure to click Apply after making any changes. Why is playback not smooth or slow at times? Reasons: The playback of clips relies on the upload speed of the broadband where your NVR is located and the download speed of the connection where you are viewing. As this can vary playback quality will also vary. Playback will also be slower on mobile devices than a PC or laptop. Resolution: You can't affect the upload speed of the broadband where the NVR is but you should try and get the best possible connection where you are viewing from. Viewing over WiFi will be better than when viewing over 3G/4G.
Playback of video will also be affected by: The quality of the micro SD card you are using so be sure to use the fastest one you can get. Whether a video file is being recorded to the card at the same time you are attempting to play back a recording off it as an SD card will slow down when files are being read and written to it simultaneously. Why do I get 'Get storage file list failed' message in the app? Reasons: If your NVR has thousands of clips recorded then there may be times when the app is unable to load the list in one go and timeout. If you have a slow Internet connection it will also cause the list to timeout. Resolution: Simply go back a step and click the SD tab again and wait for the list to load. Repeat the process if needed, as it can take a couple of attempts if your Internet is slow or you are trying to view on a mobile device.
