The MSC. 1/Circ. 1392 Clock is Ticking An Introduction to Survival Craft Inspectorate Guidelines for evaluation and replacement of lifeboat release and retrieval systems. At the IMO MSC89 in May 2011, it was decided to implement new requirements for lifeboats with on-load release hooks - Lifeboat Release and Retrieval Systems (LRRS). Existing release and retrieval systems shall be verified and tested against these requirements no later than 1st of July 2014, and release and retrieval systems that do not comply will have to be replaced at the first scheduled dry-docking after 1st of July 2014, but not later than 1st of July 2019. Release and Retrieval Systems Safelaunch was designed, developed and manufactured by Survival Craft Inspectorate to provide a safe and easy way of launching and retrieving conventional davit launched lifeboats and rescue boats. Service, Maintenance and Inspection for Release and Retrieval Systems Release and Retrieval System Support and Training All lifeboat and rescue boat release and retrieval systems should be maintained in accordance with manufacturers operating and maintenance procedures and should be carried out as per Maritime Safety Circular MSC.1/Circ 1206 Rev 1 and MSC.1/Circ 1277.
