Starting at famous sights in the city center, like the Marienkirche and Johannbau we will proceed to the Bauhaus, the Meisterhäuser and Georgium Castle. During a lunch break you will have the possibility to taste the typical Berliner Currywurst. In the afternoon you will have some free time to look around Berlin by yourself before the bus takes you back to Leipzig. Thursday, Nov. 27 th 2014 Dresden Florence of the North Through its history of destruction and its successful reconstruction, the Dresdener Frauenkirche has become a symbol for tolerance and peace throughout the world. A guide will tell you all about the history, the process of reconstruction as well as the church hall itself and answer all of your questions. Lunch will be served from the bus galley. After lunch there will be a 2 hour city walk that takes you to the historic parts of Dresden with its famous sights like the Zwinger, Fürstenzug, Albertinum and many more. More than half a million soldiers from all over Europe were facing each other on the battlefields around Leipzig in October 1813. More than 120.000 people died during these bloody fights or lost their lives through epidemics or starvation. The bus will take you to the monument and back after the guided tour. Friday, Nov. 28 th 2014 Buchenwald and Weimar The concentration camp Buchenwald near Weimar was in use from 1937 until 1945. More than 250.000 people from 50 different nations were imprisoned there and more than 50.000 people lost their lives in the camp. You will visit the grounds, the gate building with its detention cells, watchtowers, crematory, the depot and disinfection area, railway station and SS areas, stone pit and cemeteries. After lunch from the bus galley you will go on to Weimar the European City of culture. During a walking tour passing the Town Hall, Lucas-Cranach-Haus, libary and many other sights you will find out about anecdotes and facinating features from the rich funds of the history of Weimar. Departure 8:30am / Return 6:00pm Price per person 60,- Guided Tour of the Neue Gewandhaus zu Leipzig During this tour you will be able to visit the rooms of the famous Concert Hall which are open to the public.
