2 FRONT 14/18 - WORLD WAR I IN 3D / Church Zonnebeke / Free of charge This travelling exhibition of the LWL Museum Westfalen and the LWL Industrial Museum Henrichshütte Hattingen is converting eighty German war photographs into 3D images. The photographs in the exhibition Front 14/18 present World War I from the perspective of two German frontline soldiers / Villa Zonnedaele, Chateau grounds Zonnebeke Free of charge 2016 The exhibition shows how the Germans expanded their defence network in The expo not only focuses on the technical aspects, but also on the social and human aspects involved in deploying citizens as Zivilarbeiter. You can mosey over to the battlefield where a true experience awaits you. You will walk or cycle past a few silent witnesses who disappeared for many years. Info about the shuttle bus service on ART PROJECT MENIN ROAD YPERNSTRASSE June September 2016 / Alongside the Menin Road / Free of charge During the war, the road between Ypres and Menin served as a source of inspiration for writers and artists alike. From June to September there will be a temporary art route where many works by international artists will be displayed. There will be a number of events that will highlight the art route and the road. KARABINIERS-GRENADIERS / Passchendaele Centre Annual commemoration in Passchendaele of the liberation offensive in which the Belgian Grenadiers and Karabiniers played a significant role. 2 THEME WEEKEND MUSEUM WEEKEND / Chateau grounds Zonnebeke / Free of charge Saturday and Sunday / 10 am - 5 pm The annual museum weekend in the chateau grounds of Zonnebeke focuses on German history in A full programme that includes guided tours, a new bicycle tour and a themed Living History event, which delves into the history of the German dugouts constructed in the area in AND CONCERT PASSCHENDAELE / Crest Farm Memorial Passchendaele town & church / 6 pm The battle ended on 10 November 1917 after the conquest of what little still remained of Passchendaele. This is remembered each year with a ceremony at Crest Farm Memorial and a torchlight procession to the Passchendaele church. There is an outdoor reception followed by a themed concert in the Passchendaele church. 3

3 4 Remembrance Day is being commemorated with a special ceremony each year. There is a book fair about the Westhoek and World War I in Passchendaele. THE BELGIANS HAVE NOT FORGOTTEN More info: This temporary exhibition shall travel around New Zealand and Australia in 2016 and The expo reflects the memorial of WWI in Belgium and the specific roles played by New Zealand and Australia. In Zonnebeke, the exhibition Passchendaele, tactics in the mud focuses on the military historical aspects combined with the landscape. UNIQUE REMEMBRANCE PROJECT TAG FOR REMEMBRANCE PROJECT / Visitor Centre Tyne Cot Cemetery / Free of charge More info: In this project, one can engrave a personal message of peace in an identity tag at the Visitor Centre of Tyne Cot Cemetery or on the website org. All these tags will be collected and displayed in a permanent artwork: The Tree of Remembrance that will be given a home in the Passchendaele Memorial Park in Zonnebeke. This tree will be unveiled in a special ceremony on 10 November, 2017, 100 years after the end of the Battle of Passchendaele. TREE PLANTING DAY PEACE FOREST POLYGON WOOD / Start registration With the Vredesbos project, 100 years after the Battle of Passchendaele, a tree is planted in 2017 for every fallen soldier with a known grave in the two British cemeteries of Polygon Wood. A monument of all missing soldiers will also be built in a central area in the new park. Family members of fallen soldiers may also plant a tree in the park. The Belgian Karabiniers- Grenadiers captured the ruins of the village of Passchendaele. A commemoration of the Eucharist and other ceremonies will be followed by a reception.
