Role of the Group The work of the ICT group at HW underpins and enhances the Corporation s ability to deliver on its vision, values and drivers. ICT s mission is to: Strategize, plan, build and run Hunter Water s ICT assets and services that are required to meet business strategic and operational objectives. Overall Role Purpose The Enterprise Architect is primarily responsible for building, maintaining and ensuring alignment to the holistic view and roadmap of the ICT technology current and future state. The Enterprise Architect is a partner to the Chief Information Officer, ICT Managers, ICT Technical Staff and Business Managers. Key Responsibilities The Enterprise Architect s responsibilities are as follows: Work closely with the CIO providing guidance and advice in relation to emerging technologies, overall ICT Roadmap strategy and implementation of technology to meet business and operational needs. Work closely with ICT Group C managers understanding strategic and operational objectives, service strategy, key ad-hoc issues and engaging in relevant dialogue that promotes a strong partnering approach. Contribute to the overall ICT Strategy (ICTS). Develop and maintain the overall ICT Roadmap (ICTR) describing the evolution and high-level plan of all enterprise solutions from current state to future state, considering key issues such as consolidation and unification of applications, data and technologies. Seamlessly integrates business, service and ICT strategies into the ICTR. Manage the preliminary evaluation of relevant technologies not presently defined on the ICTR. Continually improve the Enterprise Architecture practices and maturity. Develop and maintain the Enterprise Architectural Principles and Guidelines (EAPG) to guide solution decisions. Define models, including generic solution designs, to guide solution decisions for the enterprise. Work closely with ICT Group C managers in planning the ICT portfolio and business as usual activities. Partner with Solution Architects and Engineers to ensure alignment of plans (including migration plans and road maps) with the ICTR. Ensure all individual projects and technical initiatives architecture design align with the ICTR and EAPG. Consult with relevant technical and business teams and individuals on the best use of technology within the existing technology suite and/or from the ICTR. Provide enterprise architecture input into business cases development.
Promote the cost-effective and fit-for-purpose use of technology, leveraging existing assets where possible. Understand and advocate the principles of business and IT strategies, as well as of Enterprise Architecture development and service delivery. Be prepared to "sell" the Enterprise Architecture process (overall, not just for ESA), its outcome and ongoing results, and to lead the communication, marketing or educational activities needed to ensure Enterprise Architecture success and use. Maintaining working relationships with vendors and other external parties to ensure Hunter Water can successfully leverage external knowledge. Develop, maintain and implement the required Enterprise Architecture policies and standards. Act as a member of the ICT Management Team. Act as a member of the Portfolio Review Team. Act as an advisor to and participate as a member on the relevant Program/Project Boards as required. Mentor technical staff as required. Model required behaviours and values. Education / Experience and Skills [identify those skills, experiences etc required for role success] Formal Education Work Experience Skills (Technical Knowledge etc) Tertiary qualified in an IT related Bachelor Degree. 5+ years proven experience working as an Enterprise or Technical Architect. Proven knowledge in the following areas: o Enterprise Applications o Data Centres o Network Design o Virtualization o Application Hosting and Delivery o Disaster Recovery o Cloud Technologies o Servers and Storage o Web Technologies o Information Management o Middleware o Security o Relational Database Management Systems Desirable 5+ years proven experience working in a government or corporate ICT environments with demonstrated knowledge and experience in an ITIL environment. Proven knowledge in the following areas: o SCADA & Telemetry Systems TOGAF Certification.
